2nd Divorce Mediation

We have received your request and we are bringing it before the Lord as you face this second mediation with trial set for next week. This is a heavy and difficult moment, and we do not take it lightly.

We pray that the peace of God, which is beyond all understanding, would rule in your hearts and guide every conversation, decision and counsel in the days ahead. Scripture teaches that this peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and that those who make peace are called sons of God because the Son of God came to bring peace between heaven and earth. We ask the Lord to give that true peace to you now, not merely a human agreement to avoid conflict, but the peace that comes from walking honestly before Him.

We also remember that God has set forth marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that His design for that covenant is holy and enduring. Because of this we cannot celebrate or ask God to simply bless separation, but we can and do ask Him to work in this painful situation for what is just, honest and healing. There are times when agreement is not good and division is painful yet necessary, like a physician who must remove what is diseased to preserve the body, and there are times when reconciliation is still possible through repentance, forgiveness and grace. We pray for clear wisdom to discern what is right before God in your specific situation.

So we pray for you in this way. May the Lord grant you and all involved wisdom, self control and humility. May He give the mediators and any judge or counsel clarity and fairness. May He guard your hearts in Christ Jesus, calm anger and fear, and keep you from words or decisions made in haste or bitterness. If there is a path to reconciliation that honors Him, we pray He would make it plain and give you both courage to walk in it with truth and grace. If separation must proceed, we pray He would lead toward a resolution that is as just and peaceful as possible, that protects all parties and limits further harm, and that leaves room for healing and repentance.

Above all we pray that each of you would seek reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ alone, for He alone is our peace and our hope. Bring your sorrow, your sin and your need to Him, trust in His death and resurrection for forgiveness, and ask Him to form your life according to His will. We encourage you to stay under the care of faithful pastors and wise counselors who hold to Scripture as you walk through these next steps.

We are asking God to be near to you this week, to grant you clarity in mediation, to prepare you for whatever comes next, and to bring in time the healing and restoration that only He can give.

Thank you for sharing this burden and allowing prayer for you in this painful and difficult season. I am praying for you as you face this second mediation and the possibility of a trial ahead.

Scripture shows that marriage was created by God as a lifelong union where a man and woman become one, and what God has joined together no one should separate. In the law given through Moses there was a provision that allowed a man to give his wife a written certificate of divorce when uncleanness was found, and over time teachers debated what that meant. Some took a very narrow view that it meant only sexual unfaithfulness, while others broadened it to mean almost any reason for displeasure. When Jesus was asked about this He pointed back to the beginning and said that divorce was permitted because of hardness of heart, but from the beginning it was not that way. His words remind us that God's design and ideal for marriage is faithfulness and permanence, and that He does not treat divorce lightly.

At the same time the Bible teaches that where hearts are hardened and people cannot or will not live out that ideal, God made allowance, and failure in marriage, though serious, is not a sin that cannot be forgiven. It is a falling short of God's best, and His grace and redemption remain open to all who turn to Jesus Christ. There is forgiveness, healing, and the possibility of a new walk with Him no matter what has happened in the past.

I am praying that God will give you wisdom and clarity in mediation, that He will guard your heart with His peace, and that His will would be done with fairness and truth. I pray that He would soften hearts where softening is needed, bring honest communication, and protect you from bitterness or anger. If reconciliation is possible in a way that honors Him, I pray He would make that clear, and if the marriage must legally end, I pray He would guide every decision about agreements and the outcome of any trial, and bring stability and healing in the days that follow.

Jesus taught that there is special power when we agree together in prayer and that where two or three are gathered in His name He is present among them. You are not praying alone. Others are joining with you now, asking the Father in Jesus' name to meet you in this need, to provide wise counsel, to comfort you, and to lead you step by step.

May the Lord draw near to you, show you His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus, and give you strength to seek what is right and honoring to Him. May He heal what is broken, redeem what has been lost, and guide you into His peace and hope for the future.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift up your second mediation before the Lord and we have been remembering the trial you have scheduled for next week if an agreement is not reached.

We have been praying that God would bring His peace and wisdom into that mediation room, that He would guide every word spoken and every decision made, and that He would help both of you toward a fair and peaceful agreement if it is His will so that the need for a trial would be avoided. We pray for calm hearts and clear minds for all involved, and for the mediators to have discernment. We are clinging to the promise of Phil 4:7 that the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds, and to James 1:5 that God gives wisdom generously to all who ask Him.

If your request was answered and you were able to come to an agreement in mediation, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet and the mediation did not result in agreement or you are still facing the trial next week, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are grateful to continue standing with you and we pray that you will feel Gods presence and guidance in these difficult days. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus Name Amen.
