We pray for families who are going through financial problems right now. Families that are in major debt, that lost jobs, who have been hit with unexpected bills. God, give these families peace. Show them how to trust You more in these times. Teach them through Your word how to be better stewards of their finances, bring to them resources and blessing to take care of their needs, and remind them that You will never leave them or forsake them. This world is constantly chipping away at our peace and joy. Our flesh is constantly craving things that don’t satisfy. Our jobs drain us. Our strength feels like it is being pulled from us. Dear Lord,

When we read about the roles of marriage in Scripture, specifically about respect, and how that is a picture of the church’s role toward Christ, we realize that we do not always respect You well. We disrespect You when we are not patient with others. We disrespect You when we are lazy or selfish. We disrespect You every day when we don’t give You the honor and glory You deserve. LORD FORGIVE US FOR OUR DISRESPECT! Please help us to be more respectful.

Dear Lord,

Thank you, for your mercies are new every morning and we know we need your mercy. Lord, take our hearts and make us safe for our children and each other. We pray that we would choose our words wisely so that we do not harm our family. We pray that we would control our anger so that we would not hurt our family. Our homes and marriages should be safe places for each other and our children. Convict our hearts if we are not cultivating this kind of safety.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for our marriage. You have used it to teach us about You. Thank you for using my spouse to show me how to be more patient, kind, gentle and loving. One thing we need help with right now is the way we speak to each other. For some reason, we can be very sarcastic and sometimes even rude. Please help us to speak kinder and softer words. Please teach us how to keep our mouths shut when our words are not uplifting. We desire to speak life into each other and not death, but...

 

Dear Lord,

Thank you for forgiving us of our sin and for bringing us far from our old patterns. Yet we still have pieces of our flesh that are constantly pulling at us to return to our old ways. God, you have called us to walk in freedom and in truth and that is our desire. Holy Spirit, cut this dead flesh away and replace it with life, truth, and freedom.
