Marriage

Dear Lord,

Thank you for this day and the opportunity to love each other. We know we are not always the best at loving one another, but we do start out every day trying! We pray that You help us to be better with each passing day. We specifically ask that Your Holy Spirit would help us to have more patience with each other. Often times we are short with one another. We don’t want to be impatient husbands or wives. We want to lovingly endure, wait with self-control, and respect each other...

 

Dear Lord,

We pray that You would impress on the hearts of husbands and wives the vital importance of sex and romance. Show husbands how necessary it is that we pursue our wives emotionally and romantically. We want them to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are on our minds daily and that we desire to show them in very meaningful ways that our thoughts and hearts are towards them. Make them thoughtful and creative. Lord, we also pray that You would show wives how important sex is to...

 

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the gift of community. We pray for Christian marriages around the world and ask that You would guide each and every one of them into a biblical and Godly community. We pray that they would begin to seek out fellowship that would encourage, inspire, challenge and grow them into the men and women You desire them to be.

Dear Lord,

We lift up our hearts to You. Sometimes we struggle with fear and worry. It grips our minds and our hearts. It erodes our faith. Please help us not to fear! We want to have hearts that trust in You completely. We pray that our faith increases. We pray that we would not have any fear about decisions we have to make or the things that are going on in this world. We pray that we would fear You alone. Plenty of Christians proclaim a strong belief, read the Word of God, and try to live godly lives. However, when it comes to the bedroom, we may be tempted to base our beliefs on traditional viewpoints about sex, our gut feelings about the issue, or secular teachings about sexuality.

Let’s look at each of these.

Make us men and women of Your word. Make us strong in Your word. Your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light on our path. Your Word is what sustains us, and it is food for our souls. Dear Lord,

Thank you for today and thank you for our marriage. Father, we pray for our words and ask that You would help us control them. Our words are so powerful. They can bring life and death. They can build up or tear down. Give us a conviction in our hearts for the things we say and how we say them, especially the words we use toward one another and our children. Thank you Lord, for giving us Your Word and that He became flesh, and now lives in us.
