Claim God's Promises for Your Marriage Whitney Hopler, Live It EditorThursday, May 26, 2005 God makes many promises throughout the Bible. And you and your spouse can rely on every one of them, because the power of a promise depends on the one who makes it. There's no better promise to trust than one made by God Himself. Claiming God's promises together will unleash His power in your marriage. Here are some ways you can claim God's promises of ... Answered prayer: Honestly consider what excuses you've been using not to pray. Identify the one that's most obvious in your life, and ask God to help you overcome it. Make a list of people and things for which to pray. Then record answers as they come. Memorize one of the Scripture verses...
I've been struggling lately keeping my faith. It's just been really hard and it feels like God isn't there for me. I know he's there though...I mean he's always there right? I'm just really struggling financially and I pray and pray about it but I don't see anything happening and it's really hard to believe that I am going to be ok. I woke up this morning feeling frustrated and angry with God because I don't feel like he's helping me. That is when I decided that I need to strengthen my relationship with God and that is when I found this website. It's so encouraging to know that others care and that others will pray for me. It also allows me to pray for others like I want to. It's put me in a much better place and I want to use this blog...
I’ve Never Felt This Homesick Before My frame was not hidden from you when I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:15 If God is going to allow me the joy of witnessing the return of your prodigal, He had better move soon. Charlyne and I were stunned a few days ago to learn I have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. These words are being written in a steno pad as I dictate them to an aide who is with me late at night in a darkened hospital room. Unless God intervenes I am going to see my grandson, Tyler, my parents and grandparents, Charlyne’s parents, scores of former Hospice patients whom I...
BELIEVE IN GOD'S PROMISES "On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived. When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord,) "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord", and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons." Luke 2:21-24 Do you believe in the promises that your Lord God has given you regarding your marriage? Christmas is over. Did you spend Christmas without your beloved spouse for another year? Are you discouraged...
JESUS, OUR SAVIOR IS BORN "So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledgedto be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 1:4-7 Merry Christmas! What a special day for us. Our Savior was born and then years later He shed His Blood on the cross for all sinners to be able to receive eternal life. Let us pray for thousands of men, women and children who will attend church...
As we approach the special day, let us take aside a little time to pause and reflect. No matter how humble or luxurious your Christmas may be, let us remember the reason we celebrate. Many years ago there was a young virgin, girl, named Mary. She was engaged to a man named Joseph. God sent his angel, Gabriel to give Mary a message, Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her 'Greetings, you are highly favored, The Lord is with you.....Don't be afraid.... You will conceive and give birth to a son....and you will call him Jesus. .He will be Great and will be called the Son of the most High...'. Mary was confused....'how can this be?? I am a virgin/?" The angel told her 'the Holy Ghost shall come to you and the Holy One will overshadow you so...
MAKE IT OR BREAK IT And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose . . . What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:28, 31 You might have read about our multiple separations prior to our divorce. We had a rocky marriage, almost from the honeymoon. From all of those years of our human attempts at working on our marriage, no period turned out to be make it or break it like Christmas week just before our divorce. This week there was a plane crash in Miami, killing all 20 people aboard that flight. Within hours of that tragedy, reporters were interviewing a woman who had taken that same flight over 50 times. On...
Yesterday I was feeling alone and missing having a family and not many people understand me. The Lord is my passion and my heart and serving Him is all I desire for it is HIM who has stuck by me and comforted my heart; He has never left me nor forsaken me. This time of year is hard for me, my youngest son was killed 13 years ago on November 27th, he was buried on December 3rd and his birthday is on December 9th. Two years after my son died on December 26th my mom died and three years after that my dad died on December 21st. My husband and I are divorced, not by any desire on my part but more of a need due to his determined state to live by the world’s standards and not allow God to heal his heart. He had been saved but at our son’s...
GOD OF SURPRISES "But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.†Job 5:8-9 When they were growing up, one of my children’s favorite Christmas traditions was exploring their stockings. This is where I always hid the “surprise.†The one thing they had not asked for but I knew was perfect for them. It might be something small, like a new pair of their favorite character pajamas. Or something a little bigger, like a gift card for that new video game. The gifts changed over the years but the tradition never did. They always headed for the stocking first, eager to see what new surprise I had for them. The tradition was just as...
