BE STILL - THE BATTLE IS MINE! When Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked up and behold the Egyptians were marching after them and the Israelites were exceedingly frightened and cried out to The Lord. Exodus14:10 (AMP) As standers we can all attest to the fact that we have been afraid and cried out to the Lord. Our beloved prodigals may be crying out also. Even though we know that our trust is in our Lord God, the Almighty, we become weak and need fresh words of encouragement from Him to keep us trusting in His promises. How easy it is in our crisis moments to fix our eyes on the immediate circumstances instead of realizing God's long term plan and continuous work in our lives. I will never leave you nor forsake you Hebrews 13:5...
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV) Do you know the Lord as your Shepherd? I pray that you will daily seek the Lord as your Shepherd for His directions...
TOMORROW! Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs.’†Exodus 8:1-2 How well do you know the life of Moses? If you read the book of Exodus, you will find Moses was born when Pharaoh was killing all the baby boys of the Hebrew women. But the Egyptian midwives feared God and they did not do what Pharaoh had ordered in killing all the newborn boys. When Moses was born, his mother hid him for three months and then she put him in a basket close to the Nile River and baby Moses was found by Pharaoh's daughter. A coincidence? Never! God knows all our “tomorrows.â€...
YOU CAN LEARN TO PRAY MORE SPECIFICALLY The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:1-3 How are you doing in your stand? I know if you are having...
ANSWER ME QUICKLY, LORD! Answer me quickly, O Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:7-8 Is that your heart's cry today? Have you been waiting and needing an answer from the Lord very soon? Have you read Psalm 143 recently? Read it tonight as part of your devotions, as this Psalm has ministered to me. Do you need to hear from the Lord regarding many situations that you are facing? “Lord, answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails. Lord, open my spiritual ears, spiritual eyes and heart to hear what You are saying to my...
"DOES MY PRODIGAL HURT AS MUCH AS I DO?" This morning I woke up with a backache. Someone awoke with a toothache. We both are hurting right now, but in different ways. That is much the way it is with the pain experienced by standers and prodigals. Your greatest emotional pain today might be from rejection. Your prodigal’s pain might be caused by guilt or shame. You both may share the common pain of fear of the future. God designed the family to help care for one another. That other person does not have, nor will they ever have, the unconditional love for your spouse that fills you today. The one you love recognizes the person they are with may bail out when the going gets rough. The vows of that other person, even though unspoken...
Is It Okay for Christians to Drop OMG's? It is not uncommon to hear people toss around God's name as the exclamation point of their frustration. Their anger or excitement is not usually directed at God but nevertheless his name seems to find its way into their responses (even in texts with OMG). In the last year I have heard increasingly Christians engaging in the same routine. So here is the question, Is it okay to drop OMG's (Oh my God!)? The answer is absolutely not! . The obvious Scripture here is the 3rd Commandments: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. Exodus 20:7 There is a command and a consequence. The command is...
To share God's love unto all...nothing more, nothing less... within one's own self, the power of God's spirit shall dwell... it is said, one must put aside selfishness, and resentments, for they block out the spirit. One needs a sense of a true spiritual well being within, for with this one shall come to know of an inner peace that opens the mind to good thoughts and actions. The world of material distractions are many, without this spiritual strength within, worldly things become overwhelming. Know this, the Holy Spirit of Christ within one's own self, to comfort and give us a true meaning of our purpose, this by the grace of God... Brotherly love unto all...
Seven Fold Restoration “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.†John 10.10 (NKJV) Beloved, I have been sent this particular word by two or three different sources this week. Through a popular devotional and through a testimony by a friend who doesn’t have a clue about my circumstances. Then lastly my sister-in-law referred to the other woman as a thief. A few months ago, I would have dismissed them as mere coincidences, but deep down you know this is how God reassures you of His faithfulness. God is absolutely merciful. What was more significant is that when I looked more in His Word, I went on to discover what happens...
