Lord, I Trust You Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6(NKJV) I was recently reflecting upon this scripture in Proverbs 3:5-6. It’s a verse that I memorized early on in life as I grew up in the church, but it wasn't until I got to be an adult who had given her life to the Lord and completely surrendered to Him that I came to understand what it fully means. The first eight words of this passage of scripture are truly the basis of my meditation as I’ve been thinking about trust. I started thinking about how I came to trust my spouse as we were dating and how I got to the point to where I trusted him enough to...
I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy. In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me. Psalm 86:1-7 “Lord show me Your will and way for my marriage.†Is that your heart's cry today? Do you need to hear from the Lord all the answers to your many prayers about your marriage and all the circumstances that come when your beloved spouse is...
THE LORD IS YOUR REFUGE, FRIEND AND HELPER Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. I cry to you, O LORD ; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Psalm 142:4-6 Are you overwhelmed by the desperate and impossible situations that you are facing in your marriage? I recently studied many different words that start with "I" and one of the words was "impossible." Regardless, of your circumstances right now, may you never forget that your Lord God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, is right there beside you wanting to direct your every step. "For...
"WHY GOD?" How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, "Violence!" but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted. Habakkuk 1:2-4 "God, where are You?" Is that one of your thoughts during the darkest, loneliest hours of despair, hopelessness, depression or oppression as your face your marriage problems? Do you say, "Why God, does my beloved spouse not communicate with me with decency? God, why did this happen to us? What caused all this to happen to my spouse...
WALKING IN LIGHT OR DARKNESS “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!†Matthew 6:22-23 Are you walking in light? Do you know someone that you love very much who is walking in darkness right now? Your spouse or a loved one is walking in darkness if they have opened their eyes, mind and life up to the sins and ways of the world. Has your spouse fallen into a prison of darkness? If yes, never stop praying for the Lord to open their eyes to see the way of escape. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world...
IN TIMES LIKE THESE “Does God listen to his cry when distress comes upon him? Will he find delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times? I will teach you about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal.†Job 27:9-11 What a day we are living in! Gas prices go up, while the value of the dollar goes down. Unemployment, health care and the housing crisis are acknowledged by politicians, and each claims to have a solution, yet doing right versus doing wrong often escapes our elected officials. Often they cannot even agree on right and wrong. On top of it all, you are in a marriage crisis. An old hymn reminds us that: In Times Like These In times like these you need a Savior, In times like these you...
LET US ALL BE LIKE JESUS Jesus came into this world so that the world might be saved through Him. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.†John 3:17 (NKJV) He came to do the will of God and fulfill the prophecies that had been spoken many years before His birth. The Father had a will for Him just like He has a will for each and every one of us. Jesus chose to do the will of the Father and in return He offered the gift of salvation to us and inherited the Kingdom of Heaven. Throughout the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Jesus’ life is replayed - the miracles He performed, the healings, giving sight to the blind, bringing the dead back to life...
(John 15:13) “Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends.†Life throws a lot our way; family problems, financial problems, health problems, emotional problems and problems with people in general. Jesus suffered all of that for us. He said, “The Son of Man has no place to lay His head,†He came as a servant so as to understand the same issues that we face. (Hebrews 2:17) “For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people.†He suffered problems with people, the Pharisees and Sadducees were so scared of loosing their standing the praise...
Paul warned Timothy that the "time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths" (2 Timothy 4:3-4). That warning proved true in Timothy's day, and it has proved true many times since, especially today, when we have a multitude of ear-tickling preachers. How can we recognize them? We know that deception is very deceiving and that no one is willingly duped. And we know that no one stands up and says, "What I'm teaching is false doctrine meant to deceive and destroy you!" We also know that it is arrogant for any one of us to think that we alone have sound doctrine...
