We are in a battle with the enemy. We can acknowledge this truth or not, but the word of God says, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." -Ephesians 6:12. With our lives we must always fight and struggle against the darkness that seeks to have our souls. Since our very first breath in this life we all have been partakers in what we all know as the great struggle. This struggle is against the evil that floods this world. As the battle raged on and on many had fought brilliantly and some had made great strides in the faith. As believer after believer fought the good fight of...
YOUR SPOUSE NEEDS HEART SURGERY! The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45 Do you know how important your heart is to your body? If your heart stopped beating, you would die. The heart is essential to life. The heart is one of the main organs in your body. If you went to the Great Physician, what would He say upon examination about your spiritual heart or about your spouse's spiritual heart? Have you had your heart surgery by the Great Physician, Jesus? What is your mouth speaking? Are you praying daily that your husband or wife will call upon Jesus to touch and...
THE NEXT FORTY DAYS By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an...
A MANDATORY VISIT This evening at dinner the Lord allowed me to witness a scene that should be mandatory viewing for every spouse considering leaving home. Seated across the way from me were two women and two boys. One woman appeared to be in her sixties and the other in her thirties. The boys looked like brothers, about eleven or twelve-years old. While the boys ate, they kidded and joked with each other. The two ladies did not. There was something obviously strained about their relationship. They finished eating before me and all four left together, going towards two cars parked side by side under a moss-covered Ocala, Florida tree. Mom opened up the trunk of her car and Grandma opened the back door of her older station wagon, and...
(James 1:2-5) "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." Do you feel as if you are in a pressure cooker? Problems surround and are overwhelming you. You feel pressured on every side. (II Corinthians 4:6-12) “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,†made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have...
Is It Faith or Is It Works? Galatians 3:1-14 NLT Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ's death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. 2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? 4 Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it? 5 I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because...
"I'll make up for the years of the locust, the great locust devastation—Locusts savage, locusts deadly, fierce locusts, locusts of doom, That great locust invasion I sent your way." Joel 2:25 (MSG) What a promise from our Lord. I must admit that I have learned a lot and my trust in Lord has a deeper root now after going through this experience called separation of marriage. Beloved, no matter our situation, let us learn to trust in the Lord. I have a sorrowful heart as I write this devotion, but my God has strengthened me to do so. The Lord showed me a wonderful illustration on how he was going to restore my marriage. In Africa, our lights do go off often and this particular time, we slept half through the night with no light so I...
JESUS CHRIST HAS RISEN! Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot... John 20:10-12 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen just as he said.†Matthew 28:5-6 Jesus said to her, “Mary.†She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!†(which means Teacher). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father...
No one enjoys suffering, but suffering is a necessary, normal part of the Christian life. In fact, the Scripture says we can expect hardships and suffering to increase (2 Tim. 2:3; 3:1-4, 13), so we must be prepared. We learn from the book of 2 Timothy that we may experience suffering as a result of our testimony, our godly living, or our stand for truth (2 Tim. 1:8; 2:8-9, 17-18; 3:6-8, 12). We may also experience suffering when we are rejected or left alone (2 Tim. 1:15; 4:9-11; 4:16), or as a natural consequence to our fleshly, worldly desires (2 Tim. 2:22). Suffering will indeed come, but God can give us grace and power to overcome every trial and to fulfill our purpose and mission in His kingdom. In his second epistle to Timothy...
