You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.” Jesus was not discouraging the practice of giving. He was reminding religious leaders that giving was about more than just money. Living a life away from the Lord is one thing that will make our life so miserable and lonely. Material possessions, money, power and riches of the world will never ever satisfy the longings of our soul. Having Jesus in my life is a precious gift that no one has ever given to me. This is really a gift that comes from heaven to those who seek and want to be close to the heart of God. In celebrating this day, I pray that we all remember the reason for the season - JESUS. As you tear into your packages, gifts, and presents, please be reminded of the most precious gift of all, the gift of LOVE and REDEMPTION given through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A most powerful, yet fragile gift, it must be handled, and opened with the care of reverence and gratitude that is fitting such a precious and priceless offering, that its' contents may be preserved. God's word is true. It is eternal. It will happen everything Jesus predicted and this verse tells us the whole truth about His word. For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Eccl. 3:1 Let us all turn our hearts toward the direction of Jesus. He is shining all over us when we start loving Him, praising Him, adoring Him. He is giving us a season to glorify His holy name.
