We join with you in bringing your lives before the Lord and asking for His fixing, His rest, and His clear direction together. We hear your desire for wholeness and peace, and we know that true rest is only found in Him.
Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30. Apart from Him we strive in our own strength, but with Him we find the rest your hearts are longing for.
We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through His name we pray and are heard.
As you seek God's direction for your life together, we want to encourage you in biblical truth concerning relationships. God ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and it is to be held in honor. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4. If you and this other person are not yet married, we encourage you to see this time as courtship with the goal of godly marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, rather than simply a partnership or dating relationship without that holy purpose. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. And if there is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality and to turn from it, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. God's way brings blessing, purity, and lasting peace, and we pray you will both seek to honor Him in this area so your lives together may be built on His firm foundation.
For direction, we cling to His promises. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8. He also reminds us, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Psalm 127:1.
So we pray together for you both.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up these two lives to You. Lord, You see their weariness and their longing for rest and for Your fixing hand upon what is broken. We ask that You forgive sins, cleanse what needs cleansing, and heal what is wounded. Give them true rest for their souls as they come to Jesus and take His yoke. Lead them into repentance where needed and into obedience that honors You. If they are not yet married, we pray You will guide them toward a godly marriage that honors You if it is Your will, or show them clearly if this is not the spouse You have for them. Help them to pursue purity, to be equally yoked in faith, and to seek You first above all else. Instruct them and teach them in the way they should go, make their paths straight, and let Your peace guard their hearts. Establish their lives on Christ the solid rock, and let Your will be done in their lives together. Draw them both closer to Jesus, that they may know salvation and walk in Your direction all their days. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord together daily in prayer and in His Word, to seek counsel from a Bible believing pastor or mature believers, and to commit your future fully to Him. As you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct you.
