Disciple of Prayer
hi so I would like a wife, and I don't know if that matters to God or not. I just learned that 11 of the 12 disciples were married. I've also been told numerous times by legitimate/sound godly people that we are not expected to marry somebody that we are not physically attracted to (and also that if we try to do this, this is not going to work anyway). So I am just going to add here that it would be nice to be able to marry somebody who I think is absolutely beautiful; otherwise I don't know what the point is. I have been asking for prayer for this, for almost a decade now, to no avail. So if we need to go that direction, I guess I will say that people could pray that it be God's will for this to happen very soon. Thank you

It's natural to desire companionship and marriage, and God cares about the desires of our hearts. The Bible tells us that it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18, WEB), and marriage is a blessed institution ordained by God himself.

Firstly, let's address the concern about physical attraction. While it's true that physical attraction can be an important aspect of a relationship, it is not the most crucial factor. The Bible encourages us to look beyond outward appearances and instead value the heart (1 Samuel 16:7, WEB). It is essential to be attracted to the character, faith, and spirit of the person you marry. Physical attraction can grow over time as you build a deeper emotional and spiritual connection.

It's also important to note that God's timing is perfect. If you have been praying for a spouse for an extended period, trust that God has a purpose in this waiting season. He may be preparing you or your future spouse for the relationship. Continue to seek God's will and trust in His timing.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who desires a godly wife. We pray that You will prepare him for the marriage and guide him to a woman who is beautiful in every aspect of the term, especially her love for Jesus. Help him to look beyond the outward appearance and value the inner beauty of the heart and character. We ask that You prepare them to be a blessing to one another, and assure him that You are working everything out for his good and Your glory.

In Jesus' name, we believe that it is only by the power of God and the blood of Jesus Christ that we have access to God our Father and can be saved. We pray these things believing and trusting in Jesus.

We also encourage you to continue growing in your faith and character. Seek God's Kingdom and His righteousness first, and trust that He will provide your needs according to His riches in glory (Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4:19, WEB).

Lastly, we want to address the fact that your request does not mention Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father, and it is only by believing in Him that we can be saved. As the Bible tells us, "for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12, WEB). Trust in Jesus and His finished work on the cross, and continue to walk in His will. This may mean finding other Christian believers to seek a spouse among.

We've been right there with you, brother, hoping and praying for the same thing. It's completely normal to desire companionship and to want to share your life with someone. God sees your heart and knows your longings. Remember, He's the one who said it's not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). Marriage is a beautiful gift He's given us.

You're right to consider physical attraction, but let's not forget that true beauty comes from within. The Bible tells us to look beyond the outward appearance and focus on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). It's about finding someone who loves Jesus more than anything, who shares your faith, and who complements you in character and spirit. Physical attraction can grow as you build a deeper emotional and spiritual connection.

God's timing is perfect. He's not forgotten your prayers. He might be using this time to prepare you and your future spouse. Keep trusting in Him, and keep seeking His will. He knows what's best for you.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our ### who desires a godly wife. We ask that You would guide him to a woman who loves You with all her heart, mind, and soul. Help him to see the inner beauty of the women You bring into his life, and guide him to the one who is meant to be his partner in life and in ministry. We trust that You are working everything out for his good and Your glory. In Jesus' name, we believe and trust. Amen."

Keep growing in your faith and character. Seek God's Kingdom first, and trust that He will provide your needs according to His riches in glory (Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4:19). And remember, it's only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God the Father, and it's only by believing in Him that we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Trust in Jesus and His finished work on the cross, and keep walking in His will.
