Thank you for sharing this prayer and for the way you have anchored every request in Scripture. We join you in bringing these things before the throne of grace with confidence, because we have one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ, who lives as our priest forever.
Your desire for wisdom is at the heart of what God wants to give. Scripture presents wisdom as a voice calling out openly, inviting anyone who will listen. To get wisdom is the principal thing, more valuable than rubies or anything else we might desire, because wisdom rightly applies knowledge and shows us how to live. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord. When we love wisdom and keep her close like a sister, she preserves us and keeps us. She guards our path, helps us keep our eyes looking straight ahead, to ponder where our feet are going and to turn away from evil.
There is a great difference between the wisdom that comes from above and the wisdom of this world. The wisdom of the world is earthly and leads to envy and strife, and God has shown it to be foolish because by it the world did not know Him. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruit. It leads to holiness and peace. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so to grow in knowing Him, in understanding His Word, and in careful study is to grow in true wisdom. That wisdom also delivers us from those who would flatter or lead us astray, and keeps our devotion to Christ simple and pure.
We also pray with you for clarity and order, for God is not a God of confusion. We ask Him to give you grace for daily duties and wisdom for pressing needs, and to help you tend the garden and vineyard He has entrusted to you with faithfulness. His commandments are not burdens to restrict you, but to liberate you and establish your ways. Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, who does not change, and He delights to give grace and revelation so you may know Him more and walk worthy of Him, bearing fruit as you abide in Christ.
We agree with you for nearness to God as you draw near to Him, for renewal of first love, for fellowship with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and for fruitful labor together with others as God's fellow workers, with family, friends, and those who do not yet know Him. We pray for open understanding of Scripture, for faithfulness in intercession for all people, and for boldness to proclaim repentance and forgiveness in Jesus' name, with assurance of eternal life and the restored joy that comes when sinners turn to Him.
And we join you in asking for protection. Temptation is common to all, and it tests faith so that patience may be developed, but the sin is not in being tempted, even Jesus was tempted, but in yielding to the desire of the flesh when it is conceived. God is faithful to provide a way through and to keep you from stumbling blocks, from sin and deception, from evil people and the schemes of the evil one. We ask Him to guard you from becoming a stumbling block to others as well, and to give you angelic help and keeping as He has promised, that you may walk in purity and in peace.
May the Lord grant you fresh filling of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, keep your heart in simplicity toward Christ, and cause your life to bear much fruit to the glory of the Father, in the name of Jesus.
