Worried and Anxious

I’m honestly getting really stressed thinking about whether there will still be any progress with my application for that specific position. I badly want to have that opportunity, but I’m leaving everything in God’s hands now. I pray that before this month ends, I’ll finally receive an update from them. Seeing other applicants already receiving updates and having their applications progress also adds to my anxiety. I pray that the Lord grants my prayer to finally have a job and, hopefully, to get this particular job. Amen. 🙏

We hear your heart in this season of waiting and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together. It is completely understandable to feel stressed and anxious when you desire this position so deeply and see others moving forward while you are still waiting, yet we are encouraged that you are choosing to leave everything in God's hands.

Scripture lovingly addresses this very anxiety and calls us to a different posture. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious in anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. The Lord sees your desire for work and your diligence in applying, and He also sees the comparison and fear that is adding to your anxiety. We gently encourage you not to measure God's faithfulness to you by the timeline of others, for His plans for you are personal and perfect.

We also noticed your prayer mentions God and the Lord, but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To truly leave everything in God's hands is to come to Him through faith in His Son Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again, trusting Him not only for a job but for eternal life. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We want to commit your application to the Lord with you and trust His sovereign will, whether that is this specific position or another opportunity He has prepared for you.

We pray together in Jesus' name that our Heavenly Father would quiet your anxious heart and replace your stress with His perfect peace. We ask that He would guide the hearts and decisions of those reviewing your application and that if it is His will for you to have this particular job, He would open that door clearly and grant you favor and an update before the month ends. If this is not His best for you, we pray He would close it gently and lead you to the work He has ordained for you, for we know Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Help us all to trust Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight. We pray you would commit your work to Yahweh as Proverbs 16:3 says, and that you would seek first His Kingdom, knowing He will provide what you need as Matthew 6:33 promises. May you rest in Romans 8:28 knowing that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

We encourage you to continue in prayer with thanksgiving each day, to remain diligent and faithful in whatever is before you now while you wait, and to guard your heart against comparison, remembering that the Lord's timing is not delayed but perfect. He cares deeply for you and for your future. We are standing with you in prayer for God's provision, His peace, and His clear direction for your employment in the days ahead.

We hear how much this opportunity means to you and how heavy the waiting has become, especially when you see others hearing back and you are still waiting for any word. It makes sense that your mind keeps circling back to it.

Wanting this job badly while also trying to leave it in God's hands is a tender place to be. That tension you feel does not mean your trust has failed, it just shows you care deeply and you are learning to hold both desire and surrender together.

One small practice that has helped others in a long wait is to give the worry a contained place. You might choose a brief window once a day to check for updates and to pray specifically for this application, then intentionally turn your attention to the faithful work in front of you that day, whether that is continuing to apply elsewhere, caring for family, or resting. It does not speed up the employer's timeline, but it can keep the anxiety from filling every hour. If you have a trusted friend or mentor, letting them know you are waiting can also lighten the load.

We are carrying this with you in prayer.

Father, we bring our friend's hope for work before You. You see this application and the longing behind it. Grant peace in the waiting, wisdom for each next step, and provision according to Your good will. Whether the answer is this position or another You have prepared, help our friend to rest in Your care today. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your honest confession of worry has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

It is right that you are leaving everything in God's hands, for that is where all our times and prospects must rest. Scripture reminds us to consider the deep and unsearchable attributes of God, and one of those is the infallibility of His purpose. What He has purposed shall stand, and His counsel shall not be turned back. This is a great comfort when we wait for an answer that seems delayed. The Lord is not forgetful and He is not unkind. He sees your desire for this position, He knows the waiting and the watching as others appear to move ahead, and He measures all things with perfect wisdom and love.

You mention that seeing other applicants receive updates adds to your anxiety. The patriarch Job knew what it was to feel scorned and overlooked while he waited in ashes, yet his sorrows were recorded not for his honor but for our profit, that we might learn patience and learn to deal with God rather than with men. Like Job, take your tears and your petitions directly to your heavenly Father and rest by faith upon the merits of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to God. When words fail, the potent rhetoric of a trusting heart still reaches His ear.

The Lord calls us to trusting and not fearing. Faith does not mean we will never feel fear, but that in the midst of fear we trust Him. You need not carry the burden of asking whether you are forgotten. Where God begins a good work, He completes it, and He will preserve and provide for His own according to His perfect will. Cast your anxiety upon Him, for He cares for you.

Let us pray together.

Our gracious Father, we thank You that this dear one has come to You in humility through Jesus Christ Your Son. You know the longing for this job and the stress that comes with waiting. We ask that You would grant peace that passes understanding while the application is in process. If it be Your wise and loving will, open the door to this particular position and grant a favorable update before the month ends. If in Your higher wisdom You have another path, make that path plain and provide work by which this life may be sustained and Your name honored. Keep this heart from comparison and from restless worry, and write Your peace upon it, that it may be preserved in trust. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, in whom we have forgiveness and hope. Amen.

Wait upon the Lord with watchfulness and prayer. Continue to be diligent in what He has placed before you today, and trust that His timing, though it may test us, is never late.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
