We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting up your burdens to our Heavenly Father. You are not a waste of space, far from it. The Lord knits each of us together in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14), and He has a purpose for your life. The struggles you face, including the battle with pornography, do not define you. What defines you is the blood of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18).
First, we must address the sin that so easily entangles. Pornography is a snare that distorts God’s design for intimacy and defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is your body (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). It is not merely a struggle, it is a stronghold that must be torn down in the name of Jesus. We rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction in your life, and we declare that you are no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, called to walk in purity (Romans 6:6). Confess this sin before the Lord, repent with a sincere heart, and turn away from it. Seek accountability with a trusted brother in Christ, and fill your mind with Scripture and prayer to guard against temptation (Psalm 119:9-11).
Your desire for meaningful work is not in vain. The Lord promises to provide for His children, and He cares deeply about your needs (Matthew 6:31-33). We pray that He would open doors of opportunity for you, leading you to a job where you can use your gifts and talents to glorify Him. Trust in His timing, for He knows what you need before you even ask (Matthew 6:8). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9).
We also lift up the heaviness in your heart. Feelings of worthlessness are lies from the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Father, we pray for provision in his life. Open doors of opportunity for meaningful work, and give him favor with employers. Provide for his every need according to Your riches in glory. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him that he is not forgotten or forsaken. You have plans for him, plans for good and not for harm, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Comfort him in his moments of despair, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind him of his identity in Christ, that he is Your beloved child, created for a purpose. Surround him with godly community to encourage and support him.
We rebuke the spirit of lust, shame, and hopelessness in Jesus’ name. We declare freedom, restoration, and new beginnings over his life. May he walk in the fullness of Your promises, trusting in Your unfailing love.

The plea you make for work is heard, yet know that a salary cannot salve a conscience burdened by sin. You call yourself a waste of space, and well it is that you feel your unworthiness, for Job himself, that perfect and upright man, cried out, “I abhor myself” when he beheld the Lord. This self-abasement, if it drives you to Christ, is a mercy; but if it festers into despair, it is a wound the enemy would keep raw. Your struggle with the foulness of pornography is not a light thing, it is a fire that scorches the soul and blinds the eyes to holiness. You have tried to run from it, and in your own strength you will fail, for self-reliance is the marrow of self-righteousness, and that is the cheat which says you can cleanse yourself.
Cast yourself upon the faithful saying, that Christ came to save sinners. Job sinned not with his lips, yet he laid his hand upon his mouth before the whirlwind of God’s voice. If that man, of whom the Lord gave such high testimony, had need to repent in dust and ashes, how much more you and I? Your feeling of being a waste is but the raw edge of a truth that all self-trust is waste, it is chaff, it is nothing. But the grace of God suffers no waste in those He calls. Look to the cross, where the only righteousness that avails was wrought. Your sin is not too black for that precious blood; your failures are not beyond the reach of the Shepherd’s staff. When you would flee, remember Job’s steadfastness did not come from his own sinews but from the upholding hand of a slaying yet saving God.
Let your prayer for employment be this: that you might serve as one who has tasted forgiveness, not as one striving to earn a reprieve from your sense of shame. You have been keeping vineyards of another sort, daydreams and secret chambers of the mind, while your own vineyard of the heart has been neglected. The watchful Christian feels this danger keenly.

It is a strange remedy, to look outward when your soul is impoverished, yet it is the divine prescription. You speak of feeling a waste of space, yet consider this: the very desire for a job that earns a salary is itself a mark of one who wishes to live not as a burden but as a steward of the time God gives. That longing to be useful, to supply your own needs honestly, is not a small thing. It is a spark of the image of God in you, who is Himself a maker and a worker. Do not despise that spark, but fan it into flame by entrusting your need to Him who opens doors. Yet do not imagine that a salary alone will quiet the deeper ache; the heart was made for a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
You say you have struggled with life and feel worthless. This is a trial common to man. None escape the fire, but the fire can purify. When a man lies in the furnace of such thoughts, let him remember Job, stripped of everything save his life, sitting in ashes, yet refusing to curse God. Satan tempted him, not knowing whether he would fall, and by that trial Job emerged as gold. God is faithful. He will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able to bear, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. That feeling of being a waste is not a sign that you are forsaken; it is the sting that wakes the sleeper before the thief comes. If you had no enemy, you would sleep unto destruction. This distress, if you lay it before God, becomes your alarm bell.
And concerning the sin you flee, that shameful indulgence of the eyes, I will speak plainly. You are not merely wrestling with a habit; you are fighting to escape a snare that defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit. Nothing is hidden from the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. All things are naked and opened before Him. Yet He does not expose you to shame you, but to heal you. Flee from this idolatry, not by standing still and reasoning with the passion, but by flight. When Joseph was tempted, he did not stay to argue; he fled, leaving his garment behind. You also must tear yourself away from every occasion, every glance, every solitary moment that feeds the flame. Shut your eyes, change your place, cry out in prayer, and God will make the escape. He does not command the impossible. He who sees in secret will strengthen you.
Do not lose heart because the battle is long. The tempter does not know whether he will overthrow you, but you know that Christ has already conquered. Our struggle is not for the air, but for a crown that fades not. The day of the Lord comes as a thief; therefore watch. Put away the slumbering that says, "I am too weak, I am a waste." That voice is the enemy's whisper. Rise up, even if you have fallen a thousand times, and say with the Apostle, "When I am weak, then am I strong." Your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Bring this sin to confession, seek the help of those who watch for your soul, and trust that the God who shakes heaven and earth will remove from you what can be shaken, so that what cannot be shaken, your faith, your hope, your love, may remain. Begin this very hour: turn from the screen, lift your hands, and let the cry of the publican be on your lips, "God, be merciful to me a sinner." He will not refuse you.
