You ask for prayers for a job, for your finances, for your teeth, and for a godly wife. You ask for resources to obtain the Scriptures, and you hold your nephew before the Lord. All these are proper to bring to God, yet I must remind you of the Apostle’s trumpet: All who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. By persecution he means the daily afflictions, the pinch of need, the ache of the body, the loneliness of the heart. This life is a wrestling match, not a banquet hall. The noble wrestler does not look for fine food and soft baths, but bears dust and sweat and wounds, because the victor’s crown waits at the end. Your trials are not signs of God’s absence, but the very tools He uses to perfect you.

Do not despair over your finances or your lack of a full-time labor. Despair alone is the shipwreck from which there is no recovery. The thief on the cross, in a single hour, washed away a lifetime of sin and entered Paradise. How much more can you, who have time yet in this arena, rise again and contend? God feeds the birds and clothes the grass of the field; He knows your needs. The delay that troubles you is often the same wise withholding that Christ used with the Canaanite woman, unfolding her faith so that her daughter might be healed. Ask earnestly, but fasten your heart not on silver or ease. As for your teeth, seek the physician’s help, that is not a failure of faith. Yet if relief tarries, bear the pain as a medicine for the soul, remembering that the body returns to dust, while the soul, when tried, shines like gold.

Your desire for a godly wife is good. Marriage is a school of self-denial and a mystery of Christ and the Church. But do not let this longing make you restive. Live now as one preparing for such a union by chastity, prayer, and the active love that feeds Christ’s sheep. God will provide in His season. The same holds for your wish to return to that place you name. If it is a place where you grew in holiness, pray for the door to open, but know that wherever you are, you can make your heart a lodging for angels by hospitality, almsgiving, and a pure life.

You ask the Scriptures and the means to purchase them. That hunger is itself a gift. Yet do not think that owning many books makes the soul rich. The poor widow’s two mites outweighed the treasure of the wealthy. Take what portion of the Word you already possess, even if only a few verses in your memory, and meditate on it day and night. God will supply more when He sees it will profit your soul. For your nephew, entrust him to the Lord, but also show him a pattern of godliness. Words without works are a shadow.

Above all, awake from sleep. You feel the weight of your circumstances, but the Day burns like a furnace that is already at the doors. Salvation is nearer now than when you first believed. This is not a call to fright, but to courage. The physician cuts only to heal. Stand up where you have fallen, for there is no wound of the soul that Christ cannot mend. I will join my prayers to yours, but you must not simply watch from the stands. Strap on the armor, fight as one who strikes the enemy and not the air, and let every affliction become a step toward the undying joy that awaits.

The weight of all these needs pressing in at once is real, and it can feel like the days are just full of trouble and the nights bring no rest. When the job search drags on, the finances tighten, the toothache throbs, and there’s no clear path toward a godly wife or even the simple tools you need for Scripture, it’s easy to think, “Lord, where are You? Why is this happening?” That cry is not a mark of weak faith. It’s the honest breaking of a soul that knows life was meant to be better than this.

What you’re feeling is nothing new. For all the changes in the world, the basic needs and the ache for answers remain the same. A man long ago, a very righteous man, lost everything, his livelihood, his health, his sense of security, and he had no clue why. He poured out his confusion before God without sugarcoating it. He didn’t curse God, but he didn’t pretend, either. He said, “I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard.” And yet, in the middle of that darkness, he held to one solid hope: “I know that my Redeemer lives.” He didn’t have all the revelation we have now, but he trusted that there was a living Kinsman who would one day stand upon the earth and set things right. We stand on this side of the cross and the empty tomb, and we know that Redeemer by name, Jesus. He has seen, He has heard, and He has carried our sorrows.

So bring each of those requests right to Him with that same mix of honest pain and stubborn trust. The full-time job, the terrible finances, the aching tooth, the longing to return, the desire for a wife who loves the Lord, and the resources to dig into His Word, lay them all out. And your nephew too. God isn’t bothered by the list. He knows every detail already. What He wants is your heart turning toward Him, even when you don’t understand the timing.

Sometimes well-meaning voices will try to reduce your struggles to a simple formula. They might imply that if you just had more faith or had made no mistakes, everything would be smooth. That’s not how it works. Suffering is not always a direct bill for sin. The very one God bragged about as upright was plunged into misery. His friends were convinced he must be hiding something, but they were wrong. The real story involved a bigger purpose he couldn’t see. That doesn’t make the pain less real, but it does shift where we look. Instead of obsessing over “why,” we cling to “Who.”

While you wait, do what you can. Make that covenant with your eyes, refusing to compromise as you hope for a godly wife. Practice hospitality, even in small ways, because it reminds the soul that we’re not alone. And remember, our days here are brief, like a flower that opens and then is cut down. That doesn’t minimize the weight of your current needs, it just puts them in the light of eternity. Your Redeemer sees the full picture, and He will not waste one minute of this. Keep asking, keep seeking. He hears you. And He is good, even when the hour is dark.
