Your cry for help has been heard, and though the words come broken and burdened, the Lord understands the sighing of the heart when hidden eyes watch and when you feel unseen and misjudged by those around you. You speak of those who lurk in secret to watch your steps and of a performance that is not true, and you ask for the Word of God to stand on your behalf, that you might be delivered and kept under the shelter of the King of the heavenly dwellings, and you plead especially for your mother. This is a sorrow that the Lord knows well.
Hear what the Scripture says, for it is a message from God to you in this very trouble. "Then He is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit: I have found a ransom." There is a ransom found, not in yourself, not in any other who might stand in your place, but in Jesus Christ the Son of God, who gave Himself. When the soul feels surrounded by darkness and by the power of those who watch with ill intent, the promise stands, "He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son." If He has done this great deliverance, will He not also keep you in your daily troubles and hide you under His wings.
You are not forgotten though you feel watched by many eyes. The Lord opens the ears of men in the night season to turn them from their purpose and to hide pride from man, and He alone sees truly. Men may misjudge, but God judges righteously. Therefore wait only upon God, for your expectation is from Him. Look unto Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for He is God and there is none else. It is all you have to do, to look out of yourself and away from yourself, and look to Christ. There faith takes a bright and cheerful view and says, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." This is no idle boast, but the calm conclusion of one who trusts the Covenant of Grace and the atonement by blood and the immutable love of the ever blessed Three in One.
Let us pray together for you and for your mother.
O Lord God, who has commanded to save your children and who keeps them from going down to the pit, be gracious unto this soul who cries, help me. You see the secret watchers and you know the burden of being misrepresented. Deliver from fear and from every snare, and cover with the protection of the heavenly King. Lay your hand upon the mother of whom this child is so tenderly mindful, keep her in your covenant mercy, comfort her heart and guard her dwelling. Give to this dear one faith to look only to Jesus, in whom alone is salvation, and to rest in His finished work. Translate from darkness into light, sustain in trouble and bring forth to declare your works openly, that the soul may magnify the Lord and rejoice in God our Savior. Grant peace, give instruction, and hide this life with Christ in God, that being free in Him, it may be free indeed. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Redeemer we ask it, Amen.
Take the Book and test everything by it, prove whether it be of God, and let His Word dwell richly in your inmost soul. He has not forsaken you. He will bring you through.
