🙇🏻 Wisdom & Revelation to Know God, The Hope of His Calling, Riches of Glorious Inheritance and the Surpassing Greatness of His Power, Eph 1:15-23, "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We lift our hearts in unity, echoing the apostle Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23, as we seek the same divine wisdom and revelation for ourselves and for you. What a profound request, to know God more deeply, to grasp the hope of His calling, to walk in the riches of His glorious inheritance, and to live in the surpassing greatness of His power! This is not merely a prayer for knowledge, but for transformation, a holy awakening of the heart to the reality of who God is and what He has done for us in Christ Jesus.

The foundation of this prayer rests on faith in the Lord Jesus and love for all the saints, as Paul notes. Without this, the petition loses its anchor. We must ask: Is your faith firmly rooted in Jesus Christ alone? For there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Salvation is the doorway to the very wisdom and revelation you seek.

Now, let us break open this prayer together, for it is rich with truth and power.

First, Paul prays for a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of God. This is not worldly wisdom, which is foolishness to God (1 Corinthians 3:19), but the wisdom that comes from above, pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy (James 3:17). The Holy Spirit is the One who reveals Christ to us (John 16:14), and He does so through the Word of God. Are you immersing yourself in Scripture daily? The Bible is not just a book; it is the living, active Word of God that discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). Without it, we stumble in darkness. We must hunger for God’s Word as newborn babies hunger for milk (1 Peter 2:2), for it is the lamp to our feet and the light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

Second, Paul prays that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened to know the hope of His calling. What is this hope? It is the confident expectation of eternal life with God, the redemption of our bodies, and the restoration of all things under Christ (Romans 8:23-25; Titus 2:13). This hope is not wishful thinking; it is an anchor for the soul, both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19). Yet how often do we live as if this hope is distant or uncertain? The enemy seeks to blind our eyes to this truth (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we must resist him, standing firm in the faith (1 Peter 5:9). We must preach the gospel to ourselves daily, reminding our hearts that we are children of God, heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17).

Third, Paul prays that we would know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. This is staggering, God’s inheritance is us! We are His treasured possession (Exodus 19:5), the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8), and He delights in us (Zephaniah 3:17). Yet how often do we forget our worth in Christ? The world tells us our value is found in our achievements, our appearance, or our relationships, but God says our value is found in the price He paid for us, the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18-19). When we grasp this, we can walk in confidence, not arrogance, knowing that we are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe.

Finally, Paul prays that we would know the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. This is not a power we conjure up; it is the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion (Ephesians 1:20-21). This power is available to us now, to overcome sin, to resist temptation, to walk in victory, and to fulfill the calling God has placed on our lives. Yet how often do we live as if we are powerless? We must stop relying on our own strength and start relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us (1 Corinthians 6:19). We must put on the full armor of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).

Let us now pray this prayer together, not as a mere recitation, but as a declaration of our dependence on God and our desire to walk in His truth.

Heavenly Father, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, Father of glory, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the faith and love we see in our brothers and sisters in Christ. We echo the prayer of Paul, asking that You would give us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of You. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may know the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints. We long to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge (Ephesians 3:18-19).

Father, we confess that we often walk in ignorance of Your power. Forgive us for relying on our own strength, for doubting Your promises, and for living as if we are not more than conquerors through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37). Today, we ask that You would fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10).

We declare that Your power is at work within us, able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We renounce every lie of the enemy that tells us we are weak, unworthy, or powerless. In the name of Jesus, we break every chain of doubt, fear, and unbelief. We stand on the truth that Christ has disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public display of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:15).

Father, we ask that You would fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that we may be empowered to live holy lives, to love others as You have loved us, and to proclaim the gospel with boldness. May we never forget that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is in His name alone that we have access to You. To Him be the glory, honor, and power forever and ever. Amen.

Beloved, as you seek this wisdom and revelation, remember that it is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. The Christian life is not about arriving; it is about abiding, abiding in Christ, abiding in His Word, and abiding in His love. We encourage you to set aside time each day to meet with God in prayer and Scripture. Join a local body of believers where you can grow in faith and love alongside other saints. Serve others with the gifts God has given you, for in doing so, you will experience the joy of His calling.

If there are areas in your life where you are struggling to align with God’s will, whether in your thoughts, your relationships, or your habits, we urge you to bring them into the light. Confess your sins to God, for He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Seek accountability with a trusted brother or sister in Christ, for iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Do not walk this journey alone.

Finally, we exhort you to share the hope that is within you with others (1 Peter 3:15). The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you, and it is meant to be shared. The world is desperate for the truth of the gospel, and you are God’s ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20). Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13). Go forth in the strength of the Lord, knowing that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
