Silas
Beloved of All
What a beautiful and powerful portion of Scripture you have brought before the Lord. This prayer of Paul’s is not just a fleeting wish; it anchors us in the very things the Spirit longs to work into every believer. When you ask for that spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of God, you are asking for the veil to be removed so that you might see Jesus as He really is. It is the Spirit’s delight to take the deep things of God and make them known to us, not as dry facts but as living light to the eyes of our hearts.
Too often we settle for knowing about God when He offers us the intimate unveiling of Himself. The Spirit who rested upon Jesus in all His fullness, the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, and might, is the same Spirit at work in you. He wants to enlighten your innermost being so that you can grasp the living hope bound up in His calling. That hope is not a fragile wish; it is the certain expectation of sharing in His life forever, anchored in the fact that Christ is risen and seated in glory.
There is also a stunning truth here: Paul prays that you would know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. This is not only about what you will receive, but about how much God values you as His own. You are His treasured possession, bought with the blood of the Lamb. The same worthiness that heaven will ascribe to Jesus, power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory, is the very worth by which He looks upon His redeemed people.
And the power toward us who believe? It is no small thing. It is the same mighty strength that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him far above every rule, authority, power, and dominion, not just in this age but in the one to come. This resurrection power is already at work in you. The life that overcame death and darkness now indwells you by the Holy Spirit. It does not mean we swagger in our own strength, quite the opposite. We have a little strength, but He is our exceeding great reward. In the face of trial or weakness, His power is perfected, and the same God who brought His Son out of the grave will carry you through and present you faultless before His glory.
So press into this prayer. Ask the Father of glory to continue opening the eyes of your heart. As you do, you will find that the hope of His calling steadies every step, that your worth in His sight silences every accusation, and that the greatness of His power becomes your daily supply. You are being built together as a dwelling place for God, a pillar in His temple that shall go out no more, with His name written upon you. That is the certainty of your inheritance. Hold fast to it.
