Silas
Beloved of All
Your burden for your children and for peace in your home is clear, and it is right to bring all of these cares to your heavenly Father. Through Jesus Christ you have been brought into God's family not as a stranger but as a child by adoption, born again by the Spirit. Jesus is the only begotten Son, and because of Him you can come to God as Father in a close and personal way. That is what He desires for you, not a ritual or a legal performance to earn His favor, but a living and loving relationship where you know how deeply He loves you and you love Him in return.
Scripture shows that life moves on two planes. Your relationship with God is the vertical axis on which everything else turns. When that center is right, your relationships with others begin to come into balance. When it is out of balance, other relationships become strained. Many family struggles can be traced back to that first relationship. The first commandments concern love for God, and only when that is in order can love for others be what it should be. This is why your own walk with the Lord, and your children's walk with Him, matters more than any other strategy.
I join you in praying for your younger daughter. I ask the Lord to cover her with His protection as she drives, studies, and works in the lab, to give her wisdom, peace, and favor, and to help her work diligently without driving herself beyond what is healthy. I pray for discernment regarding finances, that she would not take on debt or responsibilities that are not hers because of pressure from others, and that she would have courage to say no to any plan that would lure her into living arrangements or financial entanglements that are not wise or godly. I pray for her health, that the Lord would touch her body and bring healing from pain and from the condition you mentioned, according to His mercy and power. Healing is from Him, whether it comes at once or gradually through the processes He has built into our bodies, and we can trust Him with the outcome while we keep asking. I also pray for her friendships, that God would give her godly, respectful companions from her studies and elsewhere who encourage her faith and her upbringing, and that He would give her clear eyes to step back from any friendship that consistently leaves her confused, down, or uneasy.
For your older daughter, I pray with you for mercy and clarity. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's design. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual union and shared home life belong within it. Outside of that covenant, such an arrangement often leads to being used, to loss of self worth, to financial exploitation, isolation from family, friends, and the fellowship of believers, and to dishonor toward God. I do not ask God to bless that arrangement, but I do ask Him to open her eyes to see any manipulation, control, dishonesty, or disrespect for what it is, to restore her love for God, for family, and for purposeful work, and to give her wisdom and courage to seek what is right before Him. I pray that she would again honor her father and mother, for God places great importance on those family ties as a foundation for a stable life and society, and that she would value her faith and family above pressure from a boyfriend or his family. I pray that any influence that seeks to divide your children, to turn them against one another or against you, to use finances or to create jealousy and control, would be frustrated, and that your daughters would not be drawn into carrying burdens that are not theirs to carry.
For your son, I pray for the Lord's peace to guard his mind, for freedom from torment, confusion, anger, and fear, and for complete restoration. In Christ you have a right standing with God that no work can earn, and fruit grows naturally out of that relationship. As you abide in Him, the Spirit brings forth love, joy, peace, and strength. Your relationship with God being right is also how you stand against the enemy. When you are in fellowship with the Lord, you can resist the adversary and he must flee, for no weapon formed against those who are in Christ will ultimately prosper. I plead the blood of Jesus over you and your household, asking for His hedge of protection and His armor to surround you.
For your home, I pray that God would remove division, isolation, jealousy, chaos, and disrespect, and fill your home with His peace, love, joy, and unity that passes understanding. He does not want a half hearted relationship with any of us, but a wholehearted one. When He calls us back to first love, it is an invitation to deeper fellowship. Seek Him daily as Father, listen to His voice, obey His Word, and let that loving relationship shape every other relationship. As you do, the practical outworking will follow, including compassion, courtesy, forgiveness, and the honoring of one another that God desires in a family.
May the Lord strengthen you with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding for every challenge, keep your younger daughter on the bright path He has for her, restore fellowship between your children and help them see one another as blessings, and bring healing, breakthrough, and victory in a way that gives all glory to Jesus.
