Wisdom, Protection, Favors, Peace, Love and Joy

Your heartfelt and detailed prayers for your children show a deep love and a desire to see them walk in God's peace and protection, and the Lord hears the cries of a parent who brings her family before Him.

For your younger daughter, it is right to ask for covering as she drives, for wisdom and favor in her studies and in her work in the lab, and for grace to work diligently without driving herself beyond what is healthy. Pray also for clear wisdom in matters of money, that she would not take on debt or responsibility that is not hers and that she would not be swayed by voices that do not have her best interest at heart. Scripture shows how easily a young person who goes out seeking close friendship among those who do not share her faith and values can be drawn into confusion and sorrow. Like Dinah who went out to find companions among the daughters of the land and suffered harm, a friendship that consistently leaves your daughter down and disturbed after time together is a sign to step back. Ask the Lord to give her discernment to choose friends who respect her upbringing and her faith, friendships that build her up rather than drain her, and to surround her with a community where the bond in Christ is strong and encouraging.

You have also asked for healing and for freedom from spiritual oppression for both your younger daughter and your son. The Gospels show that Jesus has power in the physical realm to heal sickness, in the material realm to provide and protect, and in the spiritual realm to command evil influences to leave. We see a woman who simply touched the hem of His garment in faith and power went out from Him to heal her, and a father who pleaded for his little daughter at the point of death and Jesus went with him and raised her up. We see Him lift Peter's mother-in-law from a fever with a touch. He is still the only begotten Son of God, and we become children of God only through adoption by faith in Him, made heirs through Christ and not through our own efforts or rituals. When you pray against fear, confusion, anger and oppression, remember that Jesus asks, do you believe on the Son of God, and faith released toward Him is what brings His help. It is also important to remember His warning that when an evil influence leaves a house and finds it swept clean but empty, it can return with more. The answer is not only to ask that what is harmful would leave, but that your home and your children's hearts would be filled with Christ, His Word and His Holy Spirit, so there is no empty place left.

Concerning your older daughter, your concern is understandable and your discernment about her living situation is right. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and living together outside of that covenant is not marriage. It does not carry the commitment, protection or blessing of marriage, and it often leads to the very patterns you are seeing of isolation from family, from faithful friends and from fellowship, of control and disrespect, and of financial use that robs a person of self worth and independence. Do not ask God to bless that arrangement, but do ask Him to open her eyes to see it clearly, to give her courage and wisdom to step away from what is dishonest and controlling, and to restore her love for her family, her faith and purposeful work. Pray that any scheme to draw your younger daughter into that same household or to influence her finances would be frustrated, and that both daughters would learn that this young man is not their father, not their mentor and not their financial guide. God spoke to Jacob when Jacob saw that attitudes around him had changed and said, return to the land of your fathers and to your family and I will be with you. That promise still stands. When we turn back to God's design for family and for purity, He promises His presence with us.

For your son who has been tormented and for the strange uneasiness and physical struggles your younger daughter has felt, bring them continually to Jesus who suffered and rose again and who now lives to intercede. Ask Him to restore peace of mind, to heal what is broken in the body including the ongoing pain and weakness you described, and to bring daily mercies and victories instead of setbacks. The Lord who listened to Leah in her sorrow and heard Rachel in her longing still listens to prayer today. No weapon formed against those who are in Christ shall finally prosper, and He is able to surround your household with His protection as with a hedge and to clothe you with His armor when you walk closely with Him.

May the Lord saturate your home with the peace that passes understanding, remove division, jealousy, isolation and disrespect, and strengthen the tender and grateful bond between you and your children. May He restore what has been broken between brother and sisters, help your children to see each other as a blessing and not a burden, and keep your younger daughter on the bright path of obedience, gratitude and joy in the place God has provided for her.

Join me in prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Son of God and the only way to the Father. We plead Your blood over this family. Cover the younger daughter as she travels, studies and works, give her wisdom beyond her years, protect her from unwise financial decisions and from friendships that pull her down, and heal her body completely. Bring Your calm to her mind and surroundings. Lord, have mercy on the older daughter, open her eyes to the nature of living outside of marriage, break every controlling and dishonest hold, free her from isolation and financial exploitation, and draw her back to You, to her family and to a godly path. Lord, touch the son, lift torment and confusion, restore his peace and his ability to communicate clearly, and bring healing and breakthrough without setback. Fill this home with Your Holy Spirit, let nothing empty remain for the enemy to return to, and make the love and unity between mother and children strong and unbreakable. We ask this in Your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.
