We come before the Lord with hearts full of trust in His sovereign power over all creation, knowing that even the winds and waves obey His voice. The storms you speak of remind us of the moment when Jesus stood in the boat with His disciples and commanded the wind and the waves, *"Peace! Be still!"*—and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39). Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He holds authority over every storm that rages in this world.
In times like these, we are called to seek His face not only for protection but also for faith that stands firm amid the tempest. The psalmist declares, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling"* (Psalm 46:1-3). Let us cling to this truth as we lift our voices together.
We pray for the mighty winds to cease and for the rains to subside, that the flooded waters may recede and spare lives, homes, and livelihoods. Father, we ask for Your divine protection over every person in the path of this storm—cover them with Your feathers, and under Your wings, let them find refuge (Psalm 91:4). Strengthen the hands of first responders, emergency workers, and all who labor to bring aid and comfort. Provide wisdom to those making critical decisions, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
For those who are afraid, we pray Your comfort would surround them like a garment, reminding them that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). May this storm draw many to seek You, the God who calms the raging seas and holds all things together by the word of His power (Colossians 1:17).
We also lift up those who may face loss—whether of property, security, or even loved ones. Father, be their Comforter and Provider. Let them experience Your nearness in ways they never have before, and raise up Your church to be Your hands and feet, offering practical help and the hope of the gospel. Remind Your people that our treasure is not in the things of this world, but in Christ, who is our eternal security (Matthew 6:19-21).
Lastly, we thank You, Lord, that You use even the storms of life to refine our faith and draw us closer to You. May this trial be a testimony of Your faithfulness, and may many turn to You in repentance and worship. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who alone has the power to still the storms. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
