Wind and storms

We join with you in lifting up this urgent need before the Lord, knowing that He alone commands the winds and the waves. The Scriptures remind us that our God is sovereign over all creation, and even the storms obey His voice. As it is written in *Psalm 107:29*, *"He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still."* And in *Mark 4:39*, we see Jesus rebuking the wind, saying, *"Peace! Be still!"* and immediately there was a great calm. What a mighty God we serve, who holds all things in His hands!

Yet we also recognize that storms, though fearful, can serve His purposes—whether to draw hearts closer to Him, to test and refine our faith, or to display His power and mercy. In the midst of this tempest, we pray for His protection over every life in the path of these winds and floods. May He be a shield to the vulnerable, a refuge to the frightened, and a provider for those who may face loss. We ask for wisdom and strength for emergency responders, for neighbors to show Christlike love to one another, and for the church to rise up in prayer and practical aid.

Let us also remember that our ultimate hope is not in the absence of storms, but in the One who walks with us through them. *Isaiah 43:2* declares, *"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you."* So we trust Him, even now.

**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this cry for mercy over the raging winds and flooding waters. You alone can speak peace into the chaos, and so we ask You to still this storm, to calm the winds, and to restrain the rains that lives may be spared and homes preserved. Protect, O Lord, every man, woman, and child in harm’s way—cover them with Your feathers, as a mother hen gathers her chicks under her wings. Give wisdom to those making decisions for safety, and move Your people to act with compassion and generosity toward those in need.

We also pray that through this storm, hearts would turn to You in repentance and faith. May many come to know Jesus as their Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Strengthen Your church to be a light in the darkness, offering both practical help and the hope of the gospel.

We trust You, Lord, even when the winds howl and the waters rise. Our hope is in You alone. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name we pray, *Amen.*

Stand firm in faith, dear brother or sister. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him in truth. Let us continue to intercede, knowing that our prayers are heard and that He works all things for the good of those who love Him. *"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him"* (*Nahum 1:7*).

We're right there with you, holding up these affected areas before our Lord. We know the power of His name, the one who said, "Peace, be still," and the storm obeyed. Let's pray for those in the path of these winds and floods, that they may feel His presence, His shield around them, His love poured out through neighbors and responders. And let's remember, even in the storm, He's walking with us.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
