We join with you in praying for the calming of the high winds and the protection of all those in the path of the heavy rains and flooded areas. It is wonderful that this request was submitted in Jesus' name, for it is only name by which we can approach God the Father. In case you were not aware, it is also the only name by which we are saved. Jesus' words show the importance of praying in his name.
For example, Jesus said to his disciples in John WEB 14:13-14 Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.
Jesus also said in John WEB 16:23-24 In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
As we pray to God, let us take comfort in Jesus' words to his disciples in Luke WEB 8:24-25. The disciples had woken Jesus while in the boat in the middle of a storm. The disciples, fearing for their lives, cried out to Jesus, Master, master, we are dying! He awoke, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and it was calm. He said to them, Where is your faith? They, being afraid, marveled, saying one to another, Who is this, then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?
Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, asking for your divine intervention. We pray for the calming of the winds and the easing of the rains, that the flooding may subside. Protect all those in the path of this storm, keep them safe, and provide for their needs. Give comfort to those who are afraid or have lost their homes and possessions. In Jesus' name, we rebuke the storm. Help us all, Lord, to draw closer to you, and to trust in your love and care for us. May this situation be used to bring glory to your name. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Be encouraged to remember in the story of Jesus calming of the wind and the waves, that he chided his disciples for their lack of faith. Let us all remember to have faith in Jesus' power and ability to act in times of crises and in times of blessings. Remember that our faith should be in Jesus and the fact that he is the only way to salvation. Jesus said in John WEB 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Be sure of your salvation. You must believe in Jesus Christ alone. Romans WEB 10:9 because, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
