Father, thank You for leading me to good churches -- wife moved, needs church likes contemporary music as does son (currently attending a catholic church which has neither modern worship nor much Bible, as well as (in their country) catholics worship some leftover idol from Pre-Spanish pagan worship made into a "baby Jesus" with other more obvious errors, [1]). Asking for leading and divine encounter through preaching, friends, evangelists, angels, dreams, visions (every and any means the Lord wills to reach her is my prayer). May they find a good gospel team of husband pastor and wife for team ministry like Pricilla and Aquila, Acts 18:26. Vibrant and caring and sharing -- close proximity to her and him, not deceived by compromised doctrine, but able to teach... Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We rejoice with you in the goodness of God, who has already led your wife to seek a church that honors Him through worship, teaching, and discipleship. The desire for a congregation that values contemporary worship while remaining firmly rooted in Scripture is a godly one, and we stand with you in prayer that the Lord would guide her steps to such a place.

The concerns you raise about the Catholic church in your country are serious and align with Scripture’s warnings against idolatry and false teachings. The Bible is clear: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (1 John 5:21). The worship of any image, whether labeled as "baby Jesus" or another figure, is a violation of God’s commandment: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them" (Exodus 20:4-5). We must worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:24), not through man-made traditions that distort His Word.

We also affirm that there is "one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). No saint, no angel, and certainly no human tradition can stand between us and the Father. Salvation is found in no other name but Jesus (Acts 4:12), and it is through His sacrifice alone that we are reconciled to God. The elevation of Mary or any other figure to a role of co-mediation is a dangerous departure from Scripture. We must hold fast to the truth that "all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16), and that no council, tradition, or philosophy supersedes it.

Your prayer for a church led by a godly husband-and-wife pastoral team, like Priscilla and Aquila, is a beautiful vision. Such couples can model Christ-centered marriage and ministry, providing discipleship that nurtures both men and women in the faith. We join you in asking the Lord to bring such leaders into your wife’s life, those who are uncompromising in doctrine, vibrant in faith, and committed to making disciples as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20.

We also lift up your son, praying that the fear of the Lord, the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), would take root in his heart. May he grow in obedience to God’s Word, not as a burden, but as the path to true joy and freedom. The Lord can reach him through preaching, godly friendships, dreams, visions, or any means He chooses. We trust that the Holy Spirit is already at work, drawing him closer to Christ.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. We thank You for this family and for the hunger You have placed in their hearts for truth, worship, and discipleship. Lord, we ask that You would lead this wife to a church that honors You in every way, a place where Your Word is taught faithfully, where worship is offered in spirit and truth, and where discipleship flourishes. Raise up godly leaders, like Priscilla and Aquila, who can shepherd her with wisdom, love, and unwavering commitment to Your truth.

Father, we pray for this son, that You would captivate his heart with the fear of the Lord. May he grow in wisdom and obedience, turning away from anything that does not align with Your Word. Use every means possible, preaching, friendships, dreams, or visions, to draw him closer to You. Protect him from deception and fill him with a passion for Your truth.

We also ask that You would break any ties to idolatry or false teachings that may have taken root in their lives. Open their eyes to the truth of Your Word and the sufficiency of Christ as our only Mediator. May they find freedom in the gospel and walk in the fullness of Your Spirit.

Lord, we trust in Your promise that "those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing" (Psalm 34:10). We believe You are already at work, and we ask that You would bring divine encounters and connections that will strengthen their faith and draw them deeper into relationship with You. May this family be a light in their community, shining brightly for Your glory.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with expectancy, trusting that He is faithful to guide those who earnestly seek Him. Keep praying, keep worshiping, and keep standing on His promises. The Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18). If your wife is open to it, she might also consider visiting churches that align with her convictions and asking the Lord to give her peace about where He is leading her. The Holy Spirit will confirm His will as she steps out in faith.

What strikes us is how thoroughly you’ve entrusted this to God’s creativity: “every and any means the Lord wills.” That’s more than a phrase. It’s genuine surrender. You aren’t insisting on one path or a neat timeline. You’re simply asking God to reach your wife and son, and you trust He knows exactly how. That kind of faith is worth more than a perfect strategy.

So one thing to hold onto right now: God doesn’t need a perfect church to start a perfect work. He doesn’t need ideal circumstances. He just needs a listening heart. We’re also glad you’re not asking us to speak against people, only to come alongside your plea for truth to break through. So we simply join you in the asking.

Jesus, we lift up this wife and son. You know exactly where they are and what holds their attention. Cut through confusion, distraction, and any teaching that points anywhere but to You. Send whatever You will, a friend, a song, a dream, a conversation, a moment of clarity while reading Scripture, anything that gently turns their faces toward You. Keep them safe, keep them curious, and don’t let them settle for anything less than the real Jesus. And steady the heart of the one praying: keep hope fresh, patience deep, and trust in Your timing strong. Amen.

The cry of a believing husband and father for his household is ever heard in the courts of the Lord, and the very agony of your entreaty proves the Spirit’s work in your own soul. You long for your wife and son to be plucked from darkness into His marvelous light, and you do well to bring every divinely appointed means before the Throne, preaching, friendships, even dreams and visions if the Lord so wills. I would not limit the Holy One of Israel; He can strike His highway even through a desert of error. Yet your own letter lays bare the peril they are in, a system where a carved image receives homage, where Mary is thrust into the office of the one Mediator, and where the opinions of men, even heathen philosophers, are piled upon the sure foundation of Scripture. This is not merely a matter of differing taste in music; this is a poison in the well. True worship is not found in the sensuous tickling of the ear by contemporary melodies, nor in the solemn cadences of a pipe organ; it is found when the heart offers to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving upon the altar of Christ’s finished work. If the doctrine is corrupt, the most harmonious sound becomes a discord in the ears of a holy God. You speak of a church that teaches the Bible, that makes 2 Timothy 3:16 its foundation; this is the only sanctuary safe for an immortal soul. For if the Word is not supreme, the worship, however modern or beautiful, is a dead thing. I have seen that many go to worship because it is the custom, and it would not be respectable to stay away; their worship has a name to live, but it is dead. Your relatives are surrounded by the external show, the ancient ritual, the very thing which can lull a conscience to sleep while the heart is estranged from the life of God.

You pray for a Priscilla and Aquila to teach them the way of God more perfectly, and this is a petition after the Lord’s own heart. Yet remember this: the doctrine of Divine Purpose, which some call ‘high doctrine’ and think to be a hard saying, is the very truth that gives you the brightest hope in this matter. The text holds two things in perfect balance: 'All that the Father giveth me shall come to me,' and 'him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.' The first is the high mountainous wall of God’s sovereign grace, and the second is the broad open gate of mercy. In your prayers, do not treat the decree of God as a thorn hedge to keep you from pleading. Let it rather be a spur! Some must come, why not your wife and son? Why not in answer to the unceasing cries of a righteous man? The effectual fervent prayer of a father who stands in the gap availeth much. We are not dealing with a system of works that requires the sinner to qualify himself. That Roman poison, which you have rightly discerned, teaches men to justify themselves, to bring their merits and their penances. But the man who does that will find his own mouth condemning him, for he can produce nothing but a filthy rag of self-righteousness. The true doctrine lays the sinner low, stripped of all self-sufficiency, and there, in the dust, he is in the right place to receive grace. It is a humbling doctrine, and it is the only one that saves.

Be not bewildered by the mirage of ‘modern worship’ as if it were a third sacrament. The essence of worship is not in the style of the music but in the object of the music. The Chaldee paraphrase translates the seeking of the Lord’s face as, ‘Let us seek the doctrine of Jehovah of Hosts.’ A desire for true worship is always a desire to hear the Word. You mention that they are attracted to contemporary music; yet in that Roman assembly, they are being fed on a relic of pre-Spanish paganism dressed as the infant Jesus, a violation of the Second Commandment that mingles the table of the Lord with the table of devils. They are taught to bow to that which their own hands have fashioned, all while being told that a council of men holds authority over what the Apostles themselves proved by Scripture in Acts. This is the stratagem of the serpent, to offer a form of godliness while stealing away its power. I charge you, plead with God that they may be undeceived. Pray that their eyes may be opened to see that their God must be the God of the Bible, the self-existent Jehovah, and that Christ alone is the one Mediator who stands between a sin-hating God and a law-breaking sinner. When the soul truly knows that 'all things are of God', the provision of the atonement, the drawing of the Spirit, the gift of faith, then the shams of priestcraft and the beads of the rosary fall away as withered leaves.

Finally, take heart in the blessed certainty of the second sentence: 'Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.' This is the gospel artillery you must fire against the gates of the enemy. Should the Lord, by His Spirit, bring your wife to see the utter bankruptcy of trusting in a co-mediatrix, and cause her to fly directly to Christ, she will find no barred door. Fly to Christ and find mercy, now! Even now, though they sit in that house of confused doctrine, the sovereign arm of the Lord is not shortened that it cannot save. He who drew a thief from the cross at the final hour can, by a dream, a sermon, a passage of Scripture, or a sudden conviction, bring your loved ones out of a religion of works and into the liberty of free, rich, and sovereign grace. Continue to set your face as a flint against the error, but let your love and your life adorn the doctrine you profess. For a godly husband is the best commentary on the truth, and a walking epistle known and read by his household is often the means used by the Spirit to open blind eyes.

You have laid before God a fervent petition for your wife and son, that they might be led out of darkness and into a church where the fear of the Lord is taught and His Word alone is the rule. Let us consider what Scripture saith, for the prophet declares, “Come, ye children, hearken unto me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” This fear is not a native growth, but must be taught; and where it is not taught, the soul wanders into every error. You have described a place where the commandments of men are set above the Word of God, where they “teach for doctrines the commandments of men,” and in vain they worship. For what fellowship hath light with darkness? When they present a “baby Jesus” formed from old idols, they mingle the table of demons with the cup of the Lord, and provoke Him to jealousy. Flee such things. For we have learned from the Only-Begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, that God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth, not with lifeless images or prayers to saints who cannot hear. There is one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

You are not asking for a blanket pronouncement against all, but you discern the pernicious leaven in that place. This is prudent. Yet let us also remember the admonition: “Be not high-minded, but fear.” For haughtiness genders a contempt and listlessness. We ourselves, the Gentiles, were grafted in, and we stand by faith. Therefore, do not boast against the branches, but pray with humility for their enlightenment. Your desire for a vibrant, caring church where a husband and wife labor together like Priscilla and Aquila is good, but let their teaching be not of themselves but of God. The Church is the Church of God, not of this or that man, and it is a great dignity to be “in God.” Yet if any walk not according to His ways, they cannot be said to be in Him, no matter how pleasing their music or modern their worship. Seek a congregation that is sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, where Christ alone is the Teacher and His Word is the foundation, not the opinions of men or councils.

As for your wife’s desire for contemporary music, let it not be the candle that leads her; let the lamp be the sound doctrine of the Gospel. God can reach her by every means you have prayed: preaching, friends, even dreams and visions, for He is the God of all comfort and the Father of mercies, who comforteth us in all our affliction. When Moses forsook Egypt, he endured as seeing Him who is invisible, not fearing the wrath of the king. So too, though she may face persuasion or the discomfort of leaving what is familiar, the Lord will strengthen her. Let her not fear the wrath of men, but commit all to God, who will guide her steps. I join my prayers with yours, that they may find a church where the fear of God is taught, where Scripture is the breath of every sermon, and where they may grow into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
