Why the Church supposed to help people but instead of helping reduce other

Good and Faithful Servant
Why the Church supposed to help people but instead of helping reduce other, mock at others, judges' others Christian instead of helping and encourage others to follow God but limit them to what they wanted to continue ostracized on others. It is not cool and people cannot see Jesus Christ in the church with all these abuses.

We hear the deep pain and frustration in your words, and we grieve with you over the ways the Church has failed to reflect the love and grace of Christ. The Body of Christ is called to be a beacon of hope, a place of healing, and a refuge for the broken, not a source of judgment, exclusion, or harm. Scripture is clear about how we are to treat one another:

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35 WEB)

"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB)

When the Church mocks, judges, or ostracizes instead of loving, it betrays its very purpose. Jesus reserved His harshest rebukes not for sinners, but for religious leaders who burdened people with legalism while neglecting mercy:

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone." (Matthew 23:23 WEB)

We must also acknowledge that the Church is made up of imperfect people, saved by grace, yet still battling sin. This does not excuse harmful behavior, but it reminds us that the problem is not with Christ or His Word, but with our failure to live it out. The solution is not to abandon the Church, but to pray for revival, repentance, and a return to the heart of the Gospel.

If you have been wounded by the Church, we are truly sorry. Jesus weeps with you. But we urge you not to let the failures of His people drive you from Him. The Church is His Bride, and though she is often unfaithful, He remains faithful. He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one who is lost (Luke 15:4). He is the One who said:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-29 WEB)

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving the ways Your people have failed to reflect Your love. Lord, we confess that we have often prioritized rules over relationships, judgment over grace, and exclusion over embrace. Forgive us, Father. Heal the wounds of those who have been hurt by the Church. Restore their faith and remind them that You are not like Your people, You are perfect in love, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

We pray for the Church worldwide, that we would repent of our hypocrisy and return to our first love. Teach us to love as You love, to serve as You serve, and to extend grace as You have extended it to us. Raise up leaders who shepherd with humility, who feed Your sheep rather than fleecing them, and who point always to Christ, not to themselves.

For those who have been pushed away, Lord, draw them back. Let them see Jesus in us, not in our perfection, but in our repentance, our humility, and our love. May Your Church be a city on a hill, a light in the darkness, and a refuge for the broken. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who laid down His life for His Bride. Amen.

If you are open to it, we encourage you to seek out a local body of believers who demonstrate the love of Christ, not perfection, but a genuine desire to walk in His ways. Not all churches are the same, and there are many who are striving to live out the Gospel with authenticity. If you have been hurt, consider sharing your story with a trusted believer who can walk with you in healing. You are not alone, and your pain matters to God.

And if you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider His sacrifice for you. The Bible tells us:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 WEB)

"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9 WEB)

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you would like to surrender your life to Christ, we would be honored to pray with you and guide you in your next steps.

We hear the ache in what you shared, and we understand why you feel this way. When a church that is meant to be a place of help and healing instead mocks, judges, and pushes people to the side, it is deeply discouraging. It makes sense that you would say people cannot see Jesus there.

Your longing for the church to actually encourage people toward God instead of controlling or ostracizing them is a right and good longing. At its best the church is a caring community where God's help is passed along to those who are hurting, not a place where spiritual standing is used to diminish others or limit them to what a few want.

If you are still close to that environment, one steady step we have seen help is to talk honestly with one safe, mature believer outside that immediate circle, someone who will listen without trying to steer or pressure you. It can also be wise to give yourself permission to create some distance from where you feel mocked or judged while you look for a fellowship where you are treated with dignity and encouraged to grow.

Father, we bring this hurt before You. We ask You to heal where there has been wounding, to give clear wisdom for what to do next, and to lead to people and a church where Your love is lived out in a genuine way. Keep this heart tender toward You and restore hope in Your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your words have come with a weight of sorrow and I hear the wound within them. You have looked to the Church to be a house of healing and have found instead a spirit that reduces and mocks and judges and ostracizes, and you say rightly that when this is so, men cannot see Jesus Christ there.

There is truth in your grief, and Scripture does not hide it. Our Lord said, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. From the earliest days there have been those who make a profession of religion and yet trade in unkindness, who sit by as judges of others while forgetting the all seeing God who looks upon the heart. Such leaven, where it is allowed to work, will sour the whole lump and make the very place that should be a hospital for sinners to feel like a court of accusers. We cannot deny that hypocrisy has crept into churches, and we must deal with ourselves before God, remembering that nothing is hidden from His eye.

And yet the Church, when she is true to her Head, is not a place of wounding but of healing. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Not only the fruit but the very leaves, the least things about Christ, are full of healing virtue. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and where He dwells there is pardon and healing together. Man is a double being and his heart may be broken as well as his body, and the Lord has revealed Himself as He who bindeth up the broken hearted. Calvary is the place for the healing balm. The work of Jesus our heavenly Physician is not to point out disease only but to apply the remedy.

So I would point you away from the failing of men to the fullness that is in Christ Himself. Do not let the hypocrisy of some drive you from the Saviour who has no hypocrisy in Him. The wounds made by professing Christians are real and painful, and they urge us to seek the true Physician. Bring your brokenness to Him who heals without money and without price, who first forgives and then heals, who changes the life blood and makes the nature new.

And pray for the Church, for the healing power is present where Christ is taught and where His people pray. Pray that God would teach us good judgment and knowledge, that we might judge His providence and His Word aright and not sit in judgment upon one another in pride. Pray that those who have mocked and limited and ostracized may see their sin and be brought to repentance, and that the congregation may again become a conduit through which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below.

May the Lord heal your wound and keep you close to Himself. May He give you grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, to seek the company of the humble and prayerful who desire to minister out of healing received, and to fix your eyes upon Jesus, in whom alone is salvation. There you will find a healing that no unkindness of man can take away, and from that healing you will find strength to serve Him even while you wait for His Church to be made more like Him.
