Why the Church supposed to help people but instead of helping reduce other

Why the Church supposed to help people but instead of helping reduce other, mock at others, judges' others Christian instead of helping and encourage others to follow God but limit them to what they wanted to continue ostracized on others. It is not cool and people cannot see Jesus Christ in the church with all these abuses.

We hear the deep pain and frustration in your words, and we grieve with you over the ways the Church has failed to reflect the love and grace of Christ. The Body of Christ is called to be a beacon of hope, a place of healing, and a refuge for the broken, not a source of judgment, exclusion, or harm. Scripture is clear about how we are to treat one another:

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35 WEB)

"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB)

When the Church mocks, judges, or ostracizes instead of loving, it betrays its very purpose. Jesus reserved His harshest rebukes not for sinners, but for religious leaders who burdened people with legalism while neglecting mercy:

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone." (Matthew 23:23 WEB)

We must also acknowledge that the Church is made up of imperfect people, saved by grace, yet still battling sin. This does not excuse harmful behavior, but it reminds us that the problem is not with Christ or His Word, but with our failure to live it out. The solution is not to abandon the Church, but to pray for revival, repentance, and a return to the heart of the Gospel.

If you have been wounded by the Church, we are truly sorry. Jesus weeps with you. But we urge you not to let the failures of His people drive you from Him. The Church is His Bride, and though she is often unfaithful, He remains faithful. He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one who is lost (Luke 15:4). He is the One who said:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-29 WEB)

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving the ways Your people have failed to reflect Your love. Lord, we confess that we have often prioritized rules over relationships, judgment over grace, and exclusion over embrace. Forgive us, Father. Heal the wounds of those who have been hurt by the Church. Restore their faith and remind them that You are not like Your people, You are perfect in love, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

We pray for the Church worldwide, that we would repent of our hypocrisy and return to our first love. Teach us to love as You love, to serve as You serve, and to extend grace as You have extended it to us. Raise up leaders who shepherd with humility, who feed Your sheep rather than fleecing them, and who point always to Christ, not to themselves.

For those who have been pushed away, Lord, draw them back. Let them see Jesus in us, not in our perfection, but in our repentance, our humility, and our love. May Your Church be a city on a hill, a light in the darkness, and a refuge for the broken. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who laid down His life for His Bride. Amen.

If you are open to it, we encourage you to seek out a local body of believers who demonstrate the love of Christ, not perfection, but a genuine desire to walk in His ways. Not all churches are the same, and there are many who are striving to live out the Gospel with authenticity. If you have been hurt, consider sharing your story with a trusted believer who can walk with you in healing. You are not alone, and your pain matters to God.

And if you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider His sacrifice for you. The Bible tells us:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 WEB)

"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9 WEB)

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you would like to surrender your life to Christ, we would be honored to pray with you and guide you in your next steps.

We hear the ache in what you shared, and we understand why you feel this way. When a church that is meant to be a place of help and healing instead mocks, judges, and pushes people to the side, it is deeply discouraging. It makes sense that you would say people cannot see Jesus there.

Your longing for the church to actually encourage people toward God instead of controlling or ostracizing them is a right and good longing. At its best the church is a caring community where God's help is passed along to those who are hurting, not a place where spiritual standing is used to diminish others or limit them to what a few want.

If you are still close to that environment, one steady step we have seen help is to talk honestly with one safe, mature believer outside that immediate circle, someone who will listen without trying to steer or pressure you. It can also be wise to give yourself permission to create some distance from where you feel mocked or judged while you look for a fellowship where you are treated with dignity and encouraged to grow.

Father, we bring this hurt before You. We ask You to heal where there has been wounding, to give clear wisdom for what to do next, and to lead to people and a church where Your love is lived out in a genuine way. Keep this heart tender toward You and restore hope in Your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your words have come with a weight of sorrow and I hear the wound within them. You have looked to the Church to be a house of healing and have found instead a spirit that reduces and mocks and judges and ostracizes, and you say rightly that when this is so, men cannot see Jesus Christ there.

There is truth in your grief, and Scripture does not hide it. Our Lord said, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. From the earliest days there have been those who make a profession of religion and yet trade in unkindness, who sit by as judges of others while forgetting the all seeing God who looks upon the heart. Such leaven, where it is allowed to work, will sour the whole lump and make the very place that should be a hospital for sinners to feel like a court of accusers. We cannot deny that hypocrisy has crept into churches, and we must deal with ourselves before God, remembering that nothing is hidden from His eye.

And yet the Church, when she is true to her Head, is not a place of wounding but of healing. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Not only the fruit but the very leaves, the least things about Christ, are full of healing virtue. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and where He dwells there is pardon and healing together. Man is a double being and his heart may be broken as well as his body, and the Lord has revealed Himself as He who bindeth up the broken hearted. Calvary is the place for the healing balm. The work of Jesus our heavenly Physician is not to point out disease only but to apply the remedy.

So I would point you away from the failing of men to the fullness that is in Christ Himself. Do not let the hypocrisy of some drive you from the Saviour who has no hypocrisy in Him. The wounds made by professing Christians are real and painful, and they urge us to seek the true Physician. Bring your brokenness to Him who heals without money and without price, who first forgives and then heals, who changes the life blood and makes the nature new.

And pray for the Church, for the healing power is present where Christ is taught and where His people pray. Pray that God would teach us good judgment and knowledge, that we might judge His providence and His Word aright and not sit in judgment upon one another in pride. Pray that those who have mocked and limited and ostracized may see their sin and be brought to repentance, and that the congregation may again become a conduit through which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below.

May the Lord heal your wound and keep you close to Himself. May He give you grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, to seek the company of the humble and prayerful who desire to minister out of healing received, and to fix your eyes upon Jesus, in whom alone is salvation. There you will find a healing that no unkindness of man can take away, and from that healing you will find strength to serve Him even while you wait for His Church to be made more like Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain is heard, and what you describe is a real wound. The Church is meant to be a place of healing and help, where people are lifted up to follow God, not torn down by mocking or contempt. When those who bear the name of Christ use their words to reduce others or to push them aside, they do great harm and they obscure the sight of Jesus to those who are looking for Him.

Scripture warns that every idle word will be accounted for before God, and those who teach and lead will give an even stricter account. That should make all of us careful with our tongues. To judge a brother harshly is already serious, how much more to speak with scorn from within the household of faith. God in His loving kindness delays judgment not because He does not see, but because He is giving time for repentance and healing. His patience is meant to lead us to turn from sin and to wash away what is wrong, not to give us license to wound one another.

There is a difference that matters here. True love does not mock, it does not ostracize, and it does not delight in exposing others. At the same time true love does not simply affirm everything a person wants to do. Our sin does not come from nature or compulsion but from choice, and God calls each of us to choose His way. To encourage someone to follow God will sometimes mean calling them away from a path that is not His, whether that is living together outside of marriage, a sexual relationship outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, or seeking salvation apart from Jesus Christ alone. That call should be made as a physician offers medicine, with gentleness and patience, wanting health and restoration, not as an enemy hurling insults. The medicine may be bitter at first, but its aim is life.

It is understandable that when you have seen abuse in the church you struggle to see Christ there. Do not let the failure of people keep you from hearing the voice of the Bridegroom Himself. Faith comes by hearing the word of God, and many who have heard many times with little fruit have at last, through persistent hearing and prayer, been renewed and brought to abundant life. Like a tree that bears many blows before it falls, the heart often bears many words before it yields, and God knows the root even when we only see the trunk.

I pray that God will comfort you where you have been hurt, forgive where forgiveness is needed, and draw you close to Jesus Christ who alone saves. I pray that He will lead you to a faithful fellowship where piety lives not only in a building but in homes and hearts open to Him, and where the members seek to be at peace with one another as members of one body. I pray that He will help you to walk in His ways in holiness and truth, and that He will also work in those who have done wrong to repent and to speak and act with mercy.

If you are able, continue to listen to Scripture with expectation, seek counsel from mature believers who will speak the truth without mockery, and bring your hurt honestly to the Lord in prayer. He hears, He heals, and He will not turn away a heart that seeks Him.

What you have described is a real and painful wound, and it is right to name it as wrong. The church is the Lord's, not man's, and He intends it to be a place that helps, encourages, and lifts people toward Jesus. When it instead mocks, judges harshly, reduces people, or pushes them aside, that is not reflecting Christ at all.

There is no defense to offer for that kind of behavior. The history of the church is in many ways a history of failure, and it is right to be embarrassed by the times when those who claimed the name of Christ have acted without love. To be honest, that failure often keeps people from seeing Jesus, because hypocrisy puts a veil over the very power and love God wants to show through His people. The lack of power you sense is not God's fault. God has not withdrawn Himself. It is often the lovelessness and hypocrisy within that grieves Him.

Scripture shows us what God did intend. In the book of Acts we see the pattern, a people who cared for one another voluntarily, who put away hypocrisy and sought to be pure, who were complementary and not competing, who helped one another rather than tearing one another down. Jesus Himself is pictured as walking among the churches, seeing their works, knowing where they dwell, and searching the heart. He has eyes that see with holy fire and He does bring judgment, but His warning is clear that He will not remain where love has grown cold. A loveless church loses His presence.

It is also true that persecution has never destroyed the true church, but acceptance and worldliness have often weakened it. When the church tries to join itself to the world and its ways, when it becomes more concerned with power, image, or controlling people than with loving them, it loses its effectiveness. What you have felt, being limited and ostracized by people who wanted to keep you where they wanted you, is part of that same worldly spirit. It is not of Christ.

Please do not confuse what people have done to you with what Jesus does. People can be cruel and judgmental, and they can misuse even the idea of judgment within the church. God has given the church a responsibility to help discern right from wrong among believers, but that is meant to be done in humility and righteousness by the most humble, not as mocking or as a weapon to diminish others. The judgment that matters most belongs to Christ, and He judges with perfect righteousness and mercy.

God is able to turn even what was meant to hurt you for good. No weapon formed against His children will finally prosper, and He often turns the tables on the enemy. He is guiding and directing your life even through bitter seasons, and He can use even a painful time in an unhealthy environment to lead you to people and places where you can be truly helped and where you can grow. The purposes He has for you as His child are far greater than the rejection you have felt. He wants you to know the hope of your calling in Christ.

Do not let the failure of people limit your following of Jesus. Keep your eyes on Him. He sees you, He knows the hurt of being judged and set aside, and He invites you to follow Him directly. Ask Him to lead you to a fellowship where the Word is taught, where love is real, where people encourage one another to follow God without trying to control or demean one another. And ask Him to help you release the bitterness so it does not take root in you, trusting Him to heal you and to be your defender.

You are right to long for a place where Jesus is clearly seen. That longing is from God. He still builds His church, and He still desires it to be a place of help, encouragement, and power through His Spirit. I pray He will heal your heart from these abuses, show you His own love more deeply, and guide you into the fellowship and purpose He has for you.
