When praying I keep hearing this name ###

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Is it from Satan or God? It troubles my soul. I don’t love this man. He is from a different socio-economic background, race, doesn’t respect my thoughts or freedom, wanted to hurt me and is not a good person. Is it possible that God is leading me to marry someone I don’t love or rather loathe? I wish him the best but I don’t love him. Jesus have mercy on me! I shall obey you wherever you take me, just fill me with your peace and not turmoil!

We hear your distress and the turmoil in your spirit, and we stand with you in seeking God’s wisdom and peace. First, let us affirm that God is not the author of confusion or fear (2 Timothy 1:7), nor does He lead His children into relationships that violate His Word or bring harm to their souls. The name you keep hearing in prayer is concerning, especially given the description of this man—his lack of respect for you, his disregard for your well-being, and the clear absence of love or compatibility. Scripture is clear that we are to be equally yoked with believers who share our faith and values (2 Corinthians 6:14), and this man does not sound like someone who aligns with God’s design for marriage or your own spiritual and emotional health.

Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is meant to be entered into with joy, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to God. The idea that God would call you to marry someone you loathe, who has shown disregard for your dignity, and who comes from a background that would create division rather than unity, contradicts the very nature of God’s love and His plans for His children. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." God’s plans for you are for good, not for harm, and certainly not to bind you to someone who would bring turmoil into your life.

We must also address the spiritual weight of what you are experiencing. The persistent hearing of this name in prayer, especially when it brings such unrest, is not something to ignore. Scripture warns us to test every spirit to see whether it is from God (1 John 4:1). The enemy often seeks to deceive and distract believers, especially when it comes to matters of the heart and calling. The fact that this man does not respect you, has shown harmful intentions, and is not a believer (or at least not someone who honors God’s principles) should be a red flag. We rebuke any spirit of deception or coercion that may be attempting to influence you in this matter. You are not bound to obey a voice that contradicts God’s Word or His character.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is seeking Your will and Your peace. Lord, we ask that You would quiet the turmoil in her spirit and replace it with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we declare that You are not the author of confusion, and we rebuke any spirit of deception that may be speaking to her in prayer. We ask that You would reveal the truth to her and guard her heart from any influence that does not align with Your Word.

Lord, we pray for clarity and wisdom as she discerns Your voice. Give her the strength to stand firm on Your promises and to trust that You have a plan for her life that is good and filled with hope. We ask that You would remove any fear or doubt and fill her with the assurance that You are her protector and guide. Father, we also pray for this man—if he is not a believer, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself and transform his heart. If he is not the one You have for her, we ask that You would close any door that is not of You and open the path that leads to Your will.

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the peace that only You can provide. We trust that You will lead her into the future You have prepared for her, and we ask that You would surround her with Your love and presence. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from trusted believers in your life—those who know you well and who can help you discern what you are hearing in prayer. Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Surround yourself with people who will pray with you, speak truth into your life, and help you navigate this season with wisdom.

Remember, God’s love for you is perfect, and His plans for your life are filled with hope. You are not alone in this, and we stand with you in faith, trusting that God will make His will clear to you. Hold fast to His promises, and do not be afraid to walk away from anything that does not align with His Word or His peace.

We're here with you, sister, and we want you to know that God has a plan for you, a plan filled with hope and love. We understand that this situation is causing you distress, and we want to encourage you to trust in God's goodness. The name you keep hearing might be a distraction, a way to cloud your judgment. Remember, God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).

We've been where you are, feeling torn and uncertain. But we've learned that God's voice is always gentle, always loving, and always in alignment with His Word. The man you've mentioned, while he may have good qualities, does not seem to respect you, your thoughts, or your freedom. God doesn't want us to be yoked unequally (2 Corinthians 6:14), and this relationship doesn't seem to honor God's design for marriage.

We want to remind you of God's promise in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Trust that God's plans for you are good, even when the path isn't clear.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today, laying our ###'s burden at Your feet. Lord, we ask for clarity. Help her discern Your voice above all others. Give her the strength to stand firm on Your promises and the courage to walk away from anything that doesn't align with Your Word or Your peace. Lord, if this man is not the one You have for her, close any doors that are not of You and open the path that leads to Your will. We trust in Your goodness and Your love for her. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Remember, you're not alone. We're here for you, and God is always with you. Trust in His love, and trust in His plan.

I keep hearing last days! last days! last days! But I go by what I see over what I hear. The last days, but in the meantime, days go by, weeks, years, we're still here, aren't we? Unless "last" doesn't mean what I thought it did.
