We join you in lifting up your precious mother before the throne of grace and we thank you for sharing her burden with us so we can carry it together in prayer in Jesus name.
Our hearts are moved by your love for her and by the many trials she is carrying, a possible stroke, Alzheimer's in its late phase, diabetes, depression, heart and blood pressure issues, possible kidney trouble, and the deep loneliness after her husband your father went home to the Lord a year ago. We understand your ache in feeling you and your brother cannot be with her as much as your father was and that you feel her pain so deeply. The Lord sees her and He sees you.
We are comforted that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We cling to that name together for your mother.
Scripture assures us that God does not abandon us in old age or in weakness. Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver Isaiah 46:4. We also hear His promise, Don't reject me in my old age. Don't forsake me when my strength fails Psalm 71:9. He is with her in that hospital room even when you cannot be there. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me Psalm 23:4.
We pray for her to know she is not alone and to be well taken care of, and for peace regarding you and your brother.
We pray together, Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear mother to You. You know her by name, You formed her, and You have numbered her days. We ask that You surround her hospital bed with Your presence so that she does not feel alone for a moment. Let Your perfect love cast out all fear 1 John 4:18 and let her feel Your hand holding hers. We ask that You guide the doctors, nurses and all who care for her, giving them wisdom, skill and compassion. We pray that every test and treatment would be done with care and that she would be treated with dignity and gentleness.
Lord, quiet her heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. Take away anxious thoughts about her children and let her rest in the assurance that You watch over her son and daughter, that You love them even more than she does. Do not let her be burdened by missing them too much, but comfort her with the knowledge that she is loved, remembered and held in prayer.
We ask for Your healing touch upon her from the top of her head to the tip of her toes. You are Yahweh who heals us Exodus 15:26 and You heal the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We ask that You would touch her brain and protect her from the effects of a stroke, touch her memory and mind afflicted by Alzheimer's, her blood sugar, her heart and blood pressure, her kidneys and her stomach, for You understand every detail of her body. We pray, Is any among you sick Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:14-15. According to Your will, Lord, restore her strength and raise her up.
We also pray for you and your brother. Give you peace as you honor your mother as the Lord commands, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12. Even when time is limited, let your love be felt through prayer, through kind words to the staff to advocate for her, through every small act of remembrance. Strengthen you and comfort you in this season of watching your mother suffer. Remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18.
We entrust your mother into the hands of our faithful Shepherd who has carried her all these years and will not let her go now. We ask that You bless her from all sides as her child has prayed, before and behind, above and beneath, and let Your goodness and mercy follow her all the days of her life Psalm 23:6.
We continue to stand with you in prayer for complete healing if it be Your will, for comfort, for excellent care, and for the deep assurance that she is never alone, in Jesus name, amen.
