We need hot water in my house

Kensem

Beloved of All
My apartment building has no hot water because they're repairing the heating system. They promised it would be fixed on last Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water…

Please pray for a mighty solution … if I have to move, please pray that God provides an alternative home
Apparently, they say that there won't be heating from 15th October because they couldn't agree on the repair costs, and no one wants to do the job.

I also have mild flu

We hear your request and we join with you in bringing this very practical and distressing need before our Father. To be without hot water and to face ice cold showers is a real hardship, and even more so while you are suffering with a mild flu and with the worry that the heating may not be available from the 15th of October because of disagreements over repair costs. We understand how discouraging it must be when a promise was made for last Tuesday and it was not fulfilled, and how anxious you feel about whether you will even need to move.

We want to gently share something we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because we believe it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We seek God's will together in Jesus' name, trusting that when we believe in Him, confess our sins, and put our faith in His death and resurrection for us, we are reconciled to God and our prayers are heard. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus and trust Him as Lord and Savior.

We are reminded that our God cares about every detail of our lives, even the daily comforts we often take for granted. He knows you need warmth, health, and a safe home. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19 and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things, Matthew 6:32. We are told to cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you, Psalm 55:22 and to not be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, Philippians 4:6. He promises, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, Isaiah 41:10. Even when people cannot agree and workers cannot be found, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1 and we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, Romans 8:28.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before you together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to you. Lord, you see the apartment building without hot water, the unfinished repair to the heating system, the broken promise from last Tuesday, and the disagreement over costs that now threatens the heating from the 15th of October. We ask for a mighty solution that only you can provide. Move in the hearts of the building managers and owners to agree, provide honest and willing workers to complete the job quickly and well, and we pray that everything will be finished by tomorrow if it is your will. Provide hot water again so that showering and daily life can be restored. If it is necessary to move, we ask you to go before and provide an alternative home that is safe, warm, affordable, and peaceful, for you know where we should dwell.

We also pray for healing from this mild flu. Lord, you are the one who heals us and who sustains us in sickness. We ask you to touch this body, to ease the symptoms, to give rest and strength, and to protect from further illness, especially while having to endure cold water. Give wisdom to care for the body well in these days, to stay warm, to rest, and to seek care if needed. We ask for your peace to guard the heart and mind while waiting, that anxiety would be replaced with trust in your provision. We pray all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps while you wait and pray. Keep warm as you are able, avoid ice cold showers while you have the flu by gently heating water on the stove for washing if possible, get rest and fluids, and keep kindly but persistently communicating with your building management about the urgency, especially with the cold season approaching. If you have family, friends, or neighbors nearby, do not hesitate to ask for help for a warm shower or temporary shelter. Continue to cast this whole situation on the Lord each day, trusting that He sees your need and will provide whether through a swift repair or through opening another door for housing. We are praying with you for a speedy restoration and for complete recovery from the flu.

We hear how wearing this has been, going without hot water and not knowing when the heating will be restored, especially while you are feeling unwell with the flu.

Living without reliable hot water makes daily life so much harder, and the uncertainty about October makes it heavier. We are praying with you for a clear and timely resolution.

A couple of practical steps that may help while you wait: it can help to get the building management's update in writing, with a specific date and what they will provide in the meantime, and keep a copy of all messages. If you have a tenants association or local housing advice service nearby, they may be able to clarify your options if the work stalls again. If moving does become necessary, starting to look quietly now and letting trusted friends or your church know you might need leads can give you more time and peace than a sudden search later.

For the flu, please do check in with your doctor or clinic if you need to, alongside prayer, so you can get proper care and rest.

Father, we lift this home to You. You see the need for hot water and heat and the frustration of waiting. We ask for wisdom for those responsible for the repairs, for provision and clear guidance about whether to stay or move, and for healing and rest while recovering from the flu. Give peace and steady hope in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your cry concerning the cold in your dwelling and the affliction of your body, and we have carried it before the Lord in prayer.

You speak of what many might call a small and ordinary trial, yet we are assured that our God is the God of the valleys as well as the God of the hills. He who paints every flower and numbers every hair is not absent from the apartment where the water runs cold, nor from the room where you lie with fever. The Psalmist said, I have declared my ways and You heard me, and so we may declare even these daily straits to Him who hears. He recognizes His children everywhere and has communion with them wherever they go.

Scripture tells us that the child of God shall pass through the waters and through the fire, and that when he passes through the rivers they shall not overflow him. Though clouds may surround us, our God is our light. Though storms rage around us, our God is our might. These present inconveniences, the delay of the workmen, the disagreement over the cost, the prospect of a winter without heating, are among those various trials by which faith is tested, and by which, being tested, it is made more precious.

Therefore we have prayed that the Lord in His mercy would grant a mighty solution. We have asked Him to move upon those who are responsible for the repair, that they may come to agreement and complete the work speedily, and that hot water and needful warmth may be restored to your building by tomorrow if it be His will. We have asked also that if you must move, He who completes His own work and does not ask us to finish what He has begun, would Himself provide an alternative home, a place of quiet and provision where you may dwell in peace. And we have prayed for your body, that the Lord would touch you and lift this mild flu from you and restore your strength.

Do not give up prayer if the answer tarries. Continue to cry, My God, my God, and draw near with double earnestness. Trust Him who cannot lie and cannot break His promise, for He is your God, the Holy One who has pledged to preserve His people in all perils. Take Him at His word, believe Him, and love Him who thus gives Himself to be trusted by you.

May the Lord grant you present peace while you wait, and keep you in hope of His glory, knowing that He hears and will teach you His statutes and supply all your need according to His wisdom and love.
