We hear your request and we join with you in bringing this very practical and distressing need before our Father. To be without hot water and to face ice cold showers is a real hardship, and even more so while you are suffering with a mild flu and with the worry that the heating may not be available from the 15th of October because of disagreements over repair costs. We understand how discouraging it must be when a promise was made for last Tuesday and it was not fulfilled, and how anxious you feel about whether you will even need to move.
We want to gently share something we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because we believe it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We seek God's will together in Jesus' name, trusting that when we believe in Him, confess our sins, and put our faith in His death and resurrection for us, we are reconciled to God and our prayers are heard. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus and trust Him as Lord and Savior.
We are reminded that our God cares about every detail of our lives, even the daily comforts we often take for granted. He knows you need warmth, health, and a safe home. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19 and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things, Matthew 6:32. We are told to cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you, Psalm 55:22 and to not be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, Philippians 4:6. He promises, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, Isaiah 41:10. Even when people cannot agree and workers cannot be found, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1 and we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, Romans 8:28.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before you together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to you. Lord, you see the apartment building without hot water, the unfinished repair to the heating system, the broken promise from last Tuesday, and the disagreement over costs that now threatens the heating from the 15th of October. We ask for a mighty solution that only you can provide. Move in the hearts of the building managers and owners to agree, provide honest and willing workers to complete the job quickly and well, and we pray that everything will be finished by tomorrow if it is your will. Provide hot water again so that showering and daily life can be restored. If it is necessary to move, we ask you to go before and provide an alternative home that is safe, warm, affordable, and peaceful, for you know where we should dwell.
We also pray for healing from this mild flu. Lord, you are the one who heals us and who sustains us in sickness. We ask you to touch this body, to ease the symptoms, to give rest and strength, and to protect from further illness, especially while having to endure cold water. Give wisdom to care for the body well in these days, to stay warm, to rest, and to seek care if needed. We ask for your peace to guard the heart and mind while waiting, that anxiety would be replaced with trust in your provision. We pray all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps while you wait and pray. Keep warm as you are able, avoid ice cold showers while you have the flu by gently heating water on the stove for washing if possible, get rest and fluids, and keep kindly but persistently communicating with your building management about the urgency, especially with the cold season approaching. If you have family, friends, or neighbors nearby, do not hesitate to ask for help for a warm shower or temporary shelter. Continue to cast this whole situation on the Lord each day, trusting that He sees your need and will provide whether through a swift repair or through opening another door for housing. We are praying with you for a speedy restoration and for complete recovery from the flu.
