We join with you in prayer over this difficult and uncomfortable situation in your home, and we bring your needs before our Father together in Jesus' name. To be without hot water and to face the prospect of no heating as colder weather approaches is a real hardship, and we understand how discouraging it is when promises to finish repairs are not kept and when disagreements over costs leave everyone waiting. We also lift up your health as you deal with this mild flu, knowing that cold and discomfort can make recovery harder.
We are reminded that our heavenly Father knows our daily needs and cares about the details of our lives. Scripture tells us Philippians 4:19, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Jesus taught us Matthew 6:31-33, Therefore don't be anxious, saying, What will we eat? What will we drink? or, With what will we be clothed? For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We also take comfort in Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, and in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
We pray together now for you. Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to you. Lord, you see the apartment building without hot water and the unfinished heating system. We ask for your mighty hand to move upon those responsible for the repairs, that hearts would be softened, that agreement would be reached on the costs, and that willing and skilled workers would be provided to complete the job quickly and well. We pray that if it is your will, everything would be finished by tomorrow and hot water would be restored, and that heating would be secured before October 15th. If that is not possible, we ask that you make a way where there seems to be no way, and if a move becomes necessary, we pray that you would provide an alternative home that is safe, warm, affordable, and peaceful, according to your perfect provision. We trust you to open the right doors and to give wisdom and guidance in every decision. We also pray for healing from this flu. We ask that you would touch this body, bring strength, rest, and full recovery, for your word says Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Grant comfort, good rest, and protection from further illness while living without hot water.
We also want to gently share something important with you, as we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want you to know that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and confidence that he hears our prayers. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Scripture declares Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you, if you have not already, to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that he died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon his name for salvation and for daily help. It is in his name we pray with assurance.
We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord while also taking practical steps as you are able, to communicate graciously with building management, to keep careful records, to seek wise counsel if needed, and to care for your health with rest, warmth, and fluids. God is faithful, and even in this delay and uncertainty he is working for your good as you seek him. We will keep praying that God will bring a swift and just solution, provide for your home and your health, and give you peace that surpasses understanding as you wait on him. We ask all these things in Jesus' name, amen.
