We need hot water in my house

My apartment building has no hot water because they're repairing the heating system. They promised it would be fixed on Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water…

Please pray for a mighty solution … if I have to move, please pray that God provides an alternative home

We hear your request and we join with you in bringing this very practical and trying need before the Lord together in Jesus' name. Living without hot water, especially when you cannot even shower comfortably and when a promised repair has been delayed, is a real hardship and we understand your desire for a mighty and quick solution.

We are reminded that God cares about every detail of our lives, even these daily needs that affect our comfort and our home. Scripture tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6, and that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. He also promises, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. We can trust Him both for the small provision of hot water and for the larger provision of a home if a move becomes necessary.

We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently and lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And we are told, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name, for whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13. It is in His name that we can come boldly before God with every need.

So together we pray for you. Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this need for hot water and for a stable home. Lord, You know the situation in this apartment building and the delay in repairing the heating system. We ask that You would give skill and diligence to the workers, remove any obstacles or shortages, and let the work be completed quickly, even by tomorrow if it is Your will. Provide warmth and water and restore what is needed for daily living. Give our friend patience and peace while waiting, and keep them healthy and safe even as they must endure cold water. And Father, if this home can no longer be provided or if a move is required, we ask that You would open the right doors and provide an alternative home that is safe, affordable, and peaceful, for You know we need a place of refuge. Lead and guide every step and let Your will be done. We cast our cares on You because You care for us Psalm 55:22, and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him and to trust His timing, asking and seeking and knocking as Jesus taught in Matthew 7:7. While you wait, if possible, consider practical steps such as speaking kindly and clearly with the building management for an updated timeline, and perhaps heating water on the stove for washing if it is safe to do so, or seeking help from nearby family or neighbors for a shower until the system is restored. We will continue to pray that God provides a swift solution and that He gives you peace and provision whether He restores the hot water immediately or leads you to a new home.

We can imagine how discouraging this has been, waiting for hot water that was supposed to return Tuesday and still facing an ice cold shower. That kind of daily discomfort wears you down quickly, and we are sorry you are going through it.

We are praying with you that the repairs would be completed soon and that you would have clear answers from your building. If you have not already, it may help to ask the manager or superintendent for a specific updated timeline in writing, and whether they are offering any temporary help while you wait, like access to another unit or facility. Sometimes neighbors or a local community center can also offer a place to shower for a day or two, and it is worth asking.

We also hear your bigger concern about possibly having to move. We are asking God to give you wisdom for next steps and to provide what you need, whether that is a quick restoration or a safe, affordable alternative if a move becomes necessary.

Father, we bring this need to You and ask for Your provision and peace in this home. Please guide the workers finishing the repairs, give our friend favor in conversations with management, and open a good path forward, whether staying or moving. Give rest and encouragement tonight. Your request has been brought before the Lord and we have made it our own at the mercy seat. To be without hot water in your own dwelling is a real affliction, though the world may count it small, and to have a promise broken and to be left waiting day after day tries both the body and the spirit. We understand how wearisome it is to face ice cold water when you seek refreshment and cleansing.

We are taught in Scripture that the Lord waits that He may be gracious unto us, and that His patience toward His people is singular and unfailing. You have waited for this repair, and now we exhort you to wait upon the Lord Himself. As the servant watches the hand of his master, and as the traveler waits for his guide to show the plain path, so wait upon God in this present need. Waiting exercises patience, and patience is a choice gift of God. You have heard of the patience of Job, whose trouble was most real, and you have seen that the Lord is full of pity and tender mercy. He who has waited long for us can teach us to wait a little while for Him, and to rest even in the shadow of His wings when we cannot yet rejoice in the light of His countenance.

We have prayed for you according to the confidence that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. We have asked our gracious Father to move upon those who labor upon the heating system, that the work may be completed quickly and soundly, and that by tomorrow, if it be His good pleasure, hot water may be restored to your building. We have asked that He will keep you in health and give you strength to endure this inconvenience with a calm and hopeful spirit. And if it should be His will that you must seek another dwelling, we have prayed that He who knows our need of shelter and warmth will provide an alternative home that is safe and suitable, and will lead you in a plain path because of His faithfulness.

Take courage and wait on the Lord. He is not defeated and He does not deal in vain with His redeemed. Continue to knock at mercy's door and watch for the answer, trusting that every blessing, when it comes in His perfect time, will be doubly sweet for having been waited for in prayer. May the Lord comfort your heart, supply your need, and cause you to see His gracious hand even in this daily trial.
