We need hot water in my house

[Kensem]

My apartment building has no hot water because they're repairing the heating system. They promised it would be fixed on Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water…

Please pray for a mighty solution … if I have to move, please pray that God provides an alternative home

We join with you in prayer over this very practical and trying need and we understand how difficult it is to live without hot water, especially when you were given a promise that it would be restored and that promise was not kept.

We bring this before our Heavenly Father together in the name of Jesus, for we notice your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we come to God trusting in the shed blood and resurrection of Jesus, believing on Him for all our needs both temporal and eternal.

We lift up your apartment building and the workers repairing the heating system. We pray for skill and diligence for them and for favor so that the work will indeed be completed by tomorrow as you hope. We ask the Lord to provide hot water again quickly so you can shower and live with comfort and dignity in your home.

We also pray for your peace while you wait. Philippians 4:6 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. God cares about even the daily details of our lives. He knows you need warmth and cleanliness and He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1.

If the repair is delayed further and you must consider moving, we pray for a mighty solution according to His will. We pray that God will clearly open or close doors and provide an alternative home if that is what is needed. Philippians 4:19 promises, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:33 reminds us, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We trust He will guide you with wisdom.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up this need for hot water. You see the discomfort and frustration and the broken promise. We ask for Your mercy and provision, that the heating system would be fully repaired without further delay. Grant ability and integrity to those doing the work and grant patience and peace to all the residents. If a move becomes necessary, lead and provide a suitable home that is safe and affordable. Help our friend to cast all anxiety on You because You care for them as 1 Peter 5:7 says, and to trust that You work all things together for good for those who love You as Romans 8:28 teaches. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him and to communicate graciously with your building management while you wait, trusting that the Lord sees your situation and will provide in His perfect timing.

We know how wearing it is to go without hot water, especially when you were told it would be done Tuesday and you are still waiting. Trying to shower in ice cold water makes the whole home feel unsettled, and it is understandable to feel frustrated and tired of it.

We are praying with you for a quick and thorough finish to the repairs and for a clear, honest update by tomorrow on when the heat and hot water will be fully restored.

A practical step that may help while you wait is to ask the building office for that timeline in writing, and to ask directly if they can offer any temporary help during the outage. Sometimes they can arrange access to another unit for showering or note a credit for the inconvenience. If you have family or a trusted neighbor nearby, or a community center or gym that offers a day pass, that can also give you a warm shower without having to make a larger decision right away.

We also hear your thought about moving if this continues. That is a big decision, so we are praying for wisdom and peace as you weigh it, and that if a move is needed God will provide a suitable and affordable home in His timing. You do not have to figure it all out tonight.

Father, in Jesus' name we bring this need for hot water and for a peaceful home before You. Please guide the workers and managers to complete the repair well and soon, provide a warm place to wash, and give clear direction about whether to stay or to look for another place. Bring comfort and steadiness in these cold days. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your present want of hot water is not overlooked by Him who sees every worm that crawls and every need that presses upon His people, and though it seems a small trial to some, to you it is a daily burden that tries both comfort and patience.

We are taught in Scripture to wait only upon God, and to wait courageously. The Lord Himself is a waiting God, waiting to be gracious, long forbearing and ready to pardon through Jesus Christ, and when He has waited for the soul, that soul is brought to wait on Him. To wait upon God is not to sit in sullen complaint, but to be silent before Him, to rest calm and undisturbed, trusting that He sits at the helm of Providence and can pilot the vessel into deep waters again even when it seems near the rocks. They that wait upon the Lord shall not want any good thing, for He gives a mysterious strength through the incoming of His Spirit, so that courage revives and the heart is strengthened.

Therefore let us seek Him together for this need. We will pray that the Lord in His mercy would move the hands of those who labor upon the heating system, that what was promised might be completed speedily and with sound workmanship, and that by tomorrow, if it be His will, hot water may be restored to your dwelling. We will ask Him to keep you in health and patience while you wait, to guard you from discouragement, and to provide all that is needful for daily life. And if it should be necessary for you to seek another home, we will pray that He who is the confidence of those who dwell upon unstable ground would direct your steps, open a suitable door, and provide a place of quiet and provision where you may dwell and serve Him.

May the Lord direct your heart into His love and into patient waiting, and may you find that to wait upon Him is to renew your strength until you can bear this present inconvenience with a calm and trusting spirit, knowing that His patience toward His chosen is never in vain.
