Warfare

I will not join you in asking God to plague, kill, or burn your neighbors and coworkers. That is not the good warfare of Christ; it is a curse, and it would place you under a tyrant rather than under the King.

You are right to treat the conflict seriously. Evil tongues, occult practices, sexual immorality, robbery, scamming, and confusion of the body are real works of darkness. I will not bless them or call them harmless. But the answer is not to call down the plagues of Egypt on people made in God's image. Those judgments were in God's hand for His own purposes, not incantations for us to hurl at enemies.

There is war in the marketplace, and every day is a fight. We need arms, and prayer is a great weapon. Use it morning and night. Pray for your own protection. Pray for hidden schemes to be exposed. Pray that every spell is broken. Pray that your heart is kept from hatred. But do not ask God to shed their blood like an ocean. Ask Him to deliver them from the devil and bring them to repentance if He wills. If they refuse, leave them to His judgment.

Scripture says those who practice such sins will not inherit the kingdom of God. That is a warning meant to bring sinners to repentance, not a warrant for you to demand their destruction. The devil attacks especially when he finds a person alone and bitter. Do not fight this battle alone. Gather with the church, seek counsel from the elders, pray with the faithful, and put on the armor of righteousness.

I will pray for your safety, for peace in your home and workplace, for the exposure of every hidden deed, and for those named to be delivered from the kingdom of darkness and brought to the knowledge of the truth. That is the way of the cross.

Your words carry the weight of someone who feels surrounded and already under fire. I do not dismiss that. But I want to help you see the battle the way Scripture actually frames it, because the direction of your prayer worries me.

The real conflict is spiritual. Scripture is clear that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. That means the people in your neighborhood and workplace, whatever their sins and hostility, are not your ultimate enemy. The enemy is Satan and the spiritual powers at work through them. When we forget that, we start using carnal weapons: anger, revenge fantasies, curses called down on people, and longing for their blood. Those weapons cannot pull down strongholds. They only entangle us in bitterness.

I know the Old Testament has severe curses and imprecatory prayers. But those covenant curses were God's warnings to His people if they turned from Him, and they were His own decision to execute judgment. They were not given to us as a formula for destroying people who trouble us. Under the new covenant, Jesus commands us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who despitefully use us. So I cannot join you in asking God to plague your neighbors and coworkers, or to beg for their blood to run like an ocean. That is not the way of Christ.

What I can do is stand with you against the spiritual attack. You sense that war has been declared against you. Let that be a warning to recognize the source. This is an attack of the enemy. The answer is not to flail at people but to refuse the attack, resist the devil, and draw near to God. The promise is that if we resist him, he will flee. The weapons are spiritual: the word of God, faith, and prayer. Prayer is mighty, but it must be aimed at the true enemy. Pray that God would expose and break witchcraft and occult power. Pray that He would thwart the schemes of the wicked. Pray for His protection over your home and workplace. And ask Him to rescue those who are enslaved to sexual sin and deception. Masturbation, homosexuality, and transsexuality are not things to be blessed or celebrated; they are grave sins and spiritual bondage that need repentance and deliverance. So pray for their deliverance, not their destruction. God's desire is that people turn from sin and find life in Jesus Christ.

Do not give discouragement or fear a place. When Nehemiah and the people were surrounded by enemies, the cure for their fear was not to curse their enemies but to remember the Lord and return to the work. Keep your eyes on the Lord, not on the threats. He is your deliverer. David was delivered from the hand of the enemy, and his response was praise to the God who rescued him. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

So let me turn the prayer this way:

Lord, You are stronger than every enemy. We stand in the victory of Christ at Calvary. We do not ask for the blood of people, but we ask for the defeat of the spiritual powers behind this. Expose every hidden work of darkness. Protect Your child in home and workplace. Bring those who practice evil to repentance or scatter their counsel. Keep this one from bitterness and from fighting with carnal weapons. Teach him to resist the devil and to trust You for vindication. Break the strongholds of sin and deception through the gospel. We ask that captives would be set free and that Jesus Christ would be glorified. In His name.
