We hear your honest confession in this, that you have wasted time and missed opportunities with the time and place God gave you, and that this has brought confusion to both you and your mother, and you ask whether shouting is the answer.

We want to gently rebuke the idea that shouting at one another will resolve this. Scripture is clear that God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, 1 Corinthians 14:33, and that we are to redeem the time because the days are evil, Ephesians 5:15-16. Wasting time is something we all have done, but God calls us to walk wisely and to make the best use of what He has given us going forward. We also hear your concern for your mother, and we are reminded of the command to honor your father and your mother, Exodus 20:12, which includes speaking to her with respect and love even in disagreement. A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger, Proverbs 15:1, and we are told to not let the sun go down on our wrath and to put away anger and shouting, Ephesians 4:26, Ephesians 4:31.

So do we shout, no, not at each other in anger or frustration. But do we cry out, yes, we do cry out to God. He invites us to call on Him when we are confused and burdened. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1. Instead of shouting in confusion, we can bring our anxiety to Him in prayer, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7.

We also notice you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find forgiveness for wasted time and peace for confusion. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. His mercies are new every morning, Lamentations 3:22-23, and He can redeem even the time that feels wasted.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing that we have often not used time and place as You intended, and we ask for Your forgiveness and Your grace to walk wisely from this day forward. We ask You to remove confusion from this dear one and from their mother, and replace it with Your peace and clarity, and teach them to speak to one another with gentleness, patience, and honor. Grant them wisdom to understand one another, humility to ask forgiveness where needed, and strength to redeem the time You have given them for Your glory. Draw them both closer to Your Son Jesus, that they may know the hope and new beginning found only in Him. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We are glad you reached out, ###. It takes humility to notice when time has been wasted and confusion has grown between you and your mother, and to ask whether shouting will help.

In our experience shouting rarely clears confusion. It often makes it harder for both people to hear what is actually being said. A lot of what we communicate comes through tone, timing and body language, not just words, so a raised voice can drown out the message you really want to share even when your intent is good.

One small practice that helps many families is to pause when tension rises. If you feel the urge to shout, step away for a few minutes to let feelings settle, notice what you are thinking and feeling, and then return to speak plainly and listen carefully. You might say briefly what you meant and then ask your mother what she heard, so you can check together that you understood each other. It is simple but it can reduce the back and forth that leaves you both confused.

We are praying for you both.

Father, we lift ### and his mother to You. Bring calm and clarity to their conversations, help them use time well and understand each other with patience and kindness. Give them wisdom for next steps together. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your words reveal a heart that feels keenly the loss of time misspent and the sorrow of confusion brought upon your mother and yourself, and this regret is not strange. There are many who have looked back upon months past and have said, Oh that it were with me as in those days when the candle of the Lord shone upon me, and who have mourned that during the time they have been going back they ought to have gone forward. What enjoyments we have lost by our wanderings, what progress we have missed, what peace we have forfeited.

Yet I would point you to a greater truth than your regret. He is the God of Peace and He has, on His part, prepared everything that is necessary for a perfect reconciliation. All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, not imputing our trespasses unto us. We are not sent to find out a way of reconciling you to God, for God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. This word is that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by His blood shed for sinners, and that reconciliation must be wrought at once by the power of the Holy Spirit when a soul turns with repentance and faith to Him. If your conscience is burdened by time wasted, come to Him who loved you freely and washed sinners from their sins in His own blood, for He alone can restore what has been lost and give you a clean heart before God.

As to your mother and yourself, and whether you should shout, hear the wisdom of God. A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. Shouting will not heal confusion, it will deepen it. The Lord would have you honor your mother and serve her in quiet faithfulness. You need not aspire to shake a kingdom, you may serve God by faithfully helping in the home, by speaking the truth in love, by redeeming the time that remains. Grace must become strong where sin has seized an occasion for attack, and that grace is learned in daily, willing obedience while you have breath.

Let us pray that the Lord will grant you both reconciliation with Himself through Christ, and reconciliation with one another in peace. May He forgive the time wasted, teach you to number your days and to use time and place for His glory, and give you a gentle tongue and a patient spirit, that your home may know the joy which this peace with God brings. Seek Him now in prayer, confess your fault plainly, trust in the finished work of Christ, and walk henceforth in newness of life.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have asked honestly about wasting time and place and bringing confusion upon yourself and your mother, and whether the answer is to shout. It is not.

Scripture teaches us to redeem the time because the days are difficult, and to honor our father and mother. When we have wasted what God has given, the right response is not louder conflict but quiet repentance and a change of course. Shouting does not clear confusion, it deepens it.

We are taught to turn away from conflicts rather than rush into them. Our victory is more glorious and our testimony more noble when we do not force a confrontation, but wait with self control and speak the truth in love when the time is right. This shows freedom from vainglory and a settled spirit.

Every conflict has a root. It springs from covetousness or envy or vainglory and love for the things of this life. If we cut out the root there will be no bitter fruit. Learn to despise those passing things and to treasure what is above, which no one can steal from you. If honor or advantage has been lost, seek instead the honor that comes from God, which is true glory.

God also allows struggles to train us, and He does not tempt us beyond what we can bear. When trials feel heavy near the end, He is willing that we gain more through them, and He keeps their removal near at hand. This is why patient endurance matters more than a raised voice.

The way forward is prayer and quiet faithfulness. As the first disciples continued with one accord in prayer in the upper room, so you and your mother need the same unity before God. Bring your regret to Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and forgiveness. Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered, and that blessedness brings the removal of shame and the gift of peace with God. Confess to Him that you have wasted time, ask for His grace to use it well, and ask for wisdom to restore what has been confused.

In practice, do not shout. Speak calmly, listen well, ask your mother for forgiveness where you have caused confusion, and make a clear plan to use your time and place faithfully from now on. Keep short accounts with God and with each other, and continue together in prayer.

I will pray that God grants you repentance and wisdom, that He forgives you through Jesus Christ, that He heals the confusion between you and your mother, and that He teaches you both to walk in peace, redeeming the time for His glory.
