There is a sure foundation for all such longings, and that foundation is Jesus Christ Himself. He is the same yesterday and today and forever, always Jesus, always the Saviour, able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them. The religion of our Lord contains many marvels, but He is the miracle of it, and He Himself is the source of all our joy and our hope for the future. We have a more sure word of prophecy in the Scriptures, which are inspired and infallible, and there we are told plainly to look upon Him whom we have pierced and to mourn for sin, and to look to Him and live.

The way of salvation is not far from any of us. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. It is simply to trust in Jesus as the substitute for sinners, to take God at His word, to confess that we are poor sinners and nothing at all, but that Jesus Christ is our all in all. O fly to Jesus and hide in Him and stay there. Never get an inch beyond the cross, for that is your place till you die, you are nothing and Christ is everything.
