Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join with you in this desire for vision from the Lord and we thank God that you want to follow His leading rather than just your own personal goals, for that is a heart that seeks to honor Him.

We love the verse you shared and we want to gently bring clarity to it, for in the World English Bible Proverbs 29:18 says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. The vision spoken of there is not merely personal ambition or a picture of success, but the prophetic revelation of God and His Word. Without His revealed will and His law, people wander without direction, but when we keep His Word we are blessed. This reminds us that the truest vision we need is to know and obey what God has already revealed in Scripture, and then any specific vision He gives will always align with it.

We rejoice that you thanked the Father who does not change like shifting shadows, for as James 1:17 says Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. If God gives a vision, it is a good gift and He is faithful to fulfill what He initiates, for Habakkuk 2:3 tells us that the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and will not prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come.

We also hear your heart to receive visions from God, and Scripture does show that God still speaks and reveals His purposes, for Acts 2:17 says It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Yet we also counsel you with love to seek the Giver more than the gift, and to test every vision against the Word of God, for 1 John 4:1 tells us to test the spirits whether they are of God, and Psalm 119:105 reminds us Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. A true vision from God will never contradict Scripture, will exalt Jesus Christ, and will lead to holiness and obedience.

Your desire not to just follow personal goals is pleasing to the Lord, for Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Jeremiah 29:11 assures us For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. When we surrender our plans to Him, He shapes our desires and gives us His vision for our lives, which is far greater than anything we could imagine for ourselves.

So we pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You that You are the Father of lights who never changes. We thank You for this dear one who longs to see with Your eyes and walk in Your purposes. Lord, pour out Your wisdom and revelation upon them. If it is Your will, grant them visions and dreams that are clearly from Your Spirit, that confirm Your calling and direction for their life. Give them discernment to know what is from You and what is merely from their own heart, and help them to wait patiently for the appointed time of fulfillment. Let Your Word be the foundation of all they receive, and let Your Holy Spirit lead them step by step. We ask that You align their personal goals with Your perfect will, that they would acknowledge You in all their ways and trust You to make their paths straight. Fulfill the good work You have begun in them and let their life bear fruit for Your glory. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer, in diligent study of Scripture, and in quiet waiting before Him, for Psalm 32:8 says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Keep a journal of what you sense He is showing you and bring it before mature believers for prayer and counsel, so that what you receive is confirmed and kept in humility and truth.

We hear your desire to follow what God wants for you, not just your own plans, and we appreciate you sharing it so honestly.

That longing for vision is a good one. In our experience, the vision God gives is less about a sudden dramatic picture and more about a steady, growing clarity of His calling that draws us away from self direction and toward Him. It shapes our appetites and our choices over time, giving us a thirst for what honors Him rather than just what seems best to us in the moment. It is quieter and more sustaining than simply chasing an idea we hope will fix everything.

A simple next step that often helps is to keep bringing this before the Lord in His Word and in prayer, and to test what you sense with others who know you and love Him. As you read and pray, notice what He is highlighting about His character and His ways, write down what you feel He may be putting on your heart, and share it with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can help you weigh it with wisdom and Scripture.

Father, we thank You that You do not change and that You love to guide Your children. We ask You to give our friend a clear sense of Your will and a heart that wants what You want. Lead them step by step, guard them from merely following their own goals, and give them peace as they wait on You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to be led by the Lord and not by your own personal goals is itself an evidence of grace at work in your heart, for naturally we do not like being guided. It is well that you would seek the Lord's counsel rather than lean upon your own understanding.

You quote that weighty text, Where there is no vision, the people perish. That vision is not a fleeting dream of the night, but the revealed mind and will of God, His Word opened to the soul. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth apart from Divine Inspiration must be as unsatisfying food as if men tried to live on stones. What you need, and what I pray the Lord to give you, is not novelty, but light upon that sure Word which He has already given.

Remember how surely God's purpose stands. You and I are only waves of His great sea, we wash up and seem to retire, but the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written there from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. To be guided by Him is to be carried along by that blessed tide, not striving after your own course. There is no true glory for any man who takes his own course, but afterward He will receive to glory those whom He guides with His counsel.

How does He guide? First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, among the rest, avoid everything that is evil. And the grace of God dethrones obstinacy and gives us in its place acquiescence in the Divine will. Bowing with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste also is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, so wait upon the Lord in prayer and in searching the Scriptures.

This also belongs to your prayer, that you may truly receive the Holy Spirit. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? If when you believed you had not a life imparted by the Holy Spirit, your believing was a dead believing. Are you now receiving the Spirit? Are you living under His Divine influence? Are you filled with His power? Everything depends upon what we receive. We received Christ Jesus the Lord at the first, and now we must continue to live by receiving His fullness even now.

And be content to be as David was, God's pupil. O God, You have taught me from my youth, and until this time have I declared Your wondrous works. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil. Being taken into the School of God, he was made to observe things, he had object lessons put before him and he learned to read God's work. So take your place in that school, with open Bible, with humble prayer, with obedient heart, and He will teach you.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh down every good gift and every perfect gift, we thank You that You do fulfill the visions You give and that Your purpose shall stand. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who is the propitiation for our sins, that You would grant to this dear soul a clear sight of Your will. Open the eyes of understanding to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Fill with Your Holy Spirit, that there may be not a counterfeit faith but living faith, and make willing in the day of Your power to do the Divine bidding. Deliver from following personal goals and self chosen ways, and guide with Your counsel, that having been taught from youth and still taught each day, this life may declare Your wondrous works. Keep from haste and from willful blindness to any part of Your will, and lead step by step until You afterward receive to glory. We ask this not for merit in us, but for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose mighty and powerful name we pray, amen.
