Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join with you in prayer for true vision from God and we thank God for your desire not to simply follow your own personal goals but to seek His will.

We love your heart after Proverbs 29:18, which says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. This reminds us that godly vision is not merely personal ambition or imagination, but revelation from God that keeps us anchored in His Word and obedient to His law. Without His revelation we drift, but with it we are blessed as we walk in His ways.

We also rejoice that you recognize that every good gift comes from the Father above, for it is written Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. If good gifts come from Him, how much more does true vision and direction come from Him when we humbly ask.

We encourage you to continue seeking vision in the way Scripture teaches. God does still speak and lead His people, as Joel promised and Peter repeated on Pentecost, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet we also test every vision and impression against the sure Word of God, for the Spirit will never contradict Scripture. We are told Don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1. And we are promised If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. The primary way God gives vision today is through His Word, through prayer, and through the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit as we trust in Him.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that You are faithful to fulfill what You reveal. We lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom we have access to Your throne. Father, pour out Your wisdom and give clear, biblical vision. Remove selfish ambition and personal striving, and replace it with Your thoughts toward us, for You have said For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Help our friend to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. Give dreams and visions that align with Your Word and glorify Jesus, and give discernment to know what is from You. Lead this life not by fleeting goals but by Your eternal purpose, and fulfill the vision You give for Your glory. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.

We're grateful you reached out and shared what's on your heart. That desire to be led by God rather than just your own ambitions is something we really respect, and we're glad to stand with you in it.

One thing we've found helpful to remember is that vision in the biblical sense isn't just a big idea or a strong feeling. It's more like a steady sense of God's calling that shapes how we live day to day and draws our hearts toward what matters to Him, rather than a quick answer we manufacture ourselves. Learning to tell the difference takes time, quiet, and community.

A simple next step that helps many people is to keep a regular, unhurried time to bring this request to the Lord and then pay attention to how He is already speaking through His Word and through wise counsel. It can help to write down what you are sensing and then share it with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you well, so you can weigh it together and stay grounded.

Father, we bring our friend before You and thank You that You love to guide Your children. Give clarity where there is uncertainty, and quiet any pressure to strive. Form in them a heart that delights to follow You, and lead them step by step in the way You have prepared. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire not to follow mere personal goals but to be led by the Lord is itself an evidence of grace at work in the heart. The text you quote, Where there is no vision, the people perish, speaks not of fanciful dreams or notions of our own, but of the revealed word and counsel of God. Where that holy revelation is withheld or despised, men cast off restraint, but where it is received and obeyed, there is life and order and blessedness.

There is a divine will which governs all things, as surely as the axle governs the wheel. He worketh all things after the counsel of his own will, and his one great purpose shall be carried out. It is not for us to propose and then dispose as though we had not to ask God's consent at all. The folly of the heart says, I will go, I will buy, I will sell, I will get gain, and forgets to add, If the Lord will. No harm can come to you if you bow to his sovereign sway.

That will of God is made known to us in two ways which you must together seek. There is his revealed will in the Scriptures, which we must not violate. Nine times out of ten, look to the Ten Commandments and to the precepts of Christ and you will know what you must not do, and thereby what you may do. And there is his providential will, which we should always consult, the guidance which comes from the circumstances that surround us and the doors which he opens and shuts. When you yield your own logic and obstinacy and say, Lord, guide me with thy counsel, he will show you the path. Live near to God, and he will say things to you in his Word by his Spirit that he will not tell to those who keep at a distance.

We will pray for you that the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, will grant you not merely a transient sight but true illumination, that you may see his will and submit to it with joy.

Our Father in heaven, we thank thee that thou art unchanging and that thou fulfillest what thou hast purposed. Grant to this seeking soul a clear sight of thy revealed will in holy Scripture, and grace to love it and obey it. Deliver from self will and from following personal goals apart from thee. Guide with thy counsel in providence, and teach to say from the heart, If the Lord will, I will do this or that. Keep from willful blindness to any part of thy will, and make the path plain step by step, that after being guided by thee in this life, thou wilt afterward receive to glory. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose mighty name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change and that You are faithful to fulfill what You have promised. We thank You that You have spoken to us most clearly through Your Son and through Your holy word. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would give our brother or sister a clear understanding of Your will, wisdom to discern Your way, and a heart that loves Your truth above all personal goals. Lead by Your Spirit, open the eyes of the heart to see Christ more clearly, and align every plan with Your purpose. Keep this life from wandering, and draw it ever closer to Your heavenly calling. Grant grace to follow not the desires of the moment, but the path You have set in Your word. In Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

Your desire to not simply follow your own personal goals but to follow the Lord is right and good, and God honors that heart. The verse you mentioned in Proverbs is often understood as a call for mystical pictures, but in its context it speaks of revelation, the revealed Word of God. Where there is no prophetic word, no speaking and guidance from God through His Word, people cast off restraint and lose their way. What keeps us from perishing is not chasing an experience, but hearing, receiving and obeying what God has already said.

That is why the sure foundation for your faith and direction is Scripture, which never changes. Every good and perfect gift does come down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow, as you quoted, and His Word is one of those perfect gifts. It does not return empty but accomplishes His purpose. Experiences and feelings can fade or even contradict one another, but the Word remains steady, and it is upon that fact that faith can stand without wavering. God did give visions to some in Scripture, like Paul who saw a man from Macedonia calling for help and then immediately obeyed that call, and Daniel who was given understanding through a messenger, yet many faithful servants have never had such a vision. Their calling came in a different way, through a deep, abiding desire placed in the heart and through the clear leading of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit. If God chooses to give a vision He is certainly able, and we can remain open to Him, but we do not need a vision to know His will and to walk with Him.

God created you for fellowship with Him, and that is still His eternal purpose for your life. What breaks that fellowship is sin, for as Isaiah says, it is our sins that separate us from God, not that His hand is too short to save or His ear too heavy to hear. As His love is perfected in us, self life grows smaller and we learn to walk as Jesus walked, following His example. The purpose of prayer is not to persuade God to accomplish our will, but to bring our hearts into alignment so that His will is done, because His will for your life is the very best thing that could happen to you and to those you love. When we do not know how to pray or what His specific will is in a situation, the Holy Spirit helps us and intercedes for us. We can trust that He is working all things together for good for those who love Him, conforming us to the image of Christ, and that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power at work in us.

So my prayer for you is not simply for a vision, but for a deeper joy in walking with Jesus and a greater power over sin as you stay in His Word, and for wisdom to remain usable in His hands for His purposes.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You do not change and that Your Word is true and trustworthy. Thank You for creating us for fellowship with You through Jesus Christ. I ask that You give my brother or sister a hunger for Your Word and a clear understanding of it, that You would make Your will known through Scripture and by Your Spirit, and that You would keep them from following only personal goals. Lead them into what is best according to Your eternal purpose, cleanse what breaks fellowship, and make them more like Jesus. If it pleases You to give specific guidance through a dream or vision You are able, but above all let their faith rest on the unchanging truth of what You have already spoken. Guide them step by step and let their life be useful for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen.
