Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join you in this beautiful and humble request for vision from the Lord, and we rejoice that you desire to follow His leading rather than just your own personal goals. That desire itself is a gift from God and shows a heart that wants to be surrendered to Him.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, which in the King James Version says Where there is no vision, the people perish. In the World English Bible it is rendered as Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. The vision or revelation spoken of there is not merely personal ambition or imagination, but the prophetic revelation of God's word and will. When we do not have God's word and direction, we wander without restraint. When we keep His law and follow His counsel, we are blessed. So your prayer is very biblical, to ask God for His revelation and direction so you do not walk in your own understanding.

We also thank you for giving thanks that our Father does not change like shifting shadows and for quoting Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. What a wonderful truth that every true vision and good direction comes down from Him, and He is faithful to fulfill what He initiates. We also rejoice that you prayed in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father. As it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.

We want to encourage you that God does still speak and guide His people, and He has promised in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17, and also Joel 2:28. Yet we also gently remind you that all visions and impressions must be tested against Scripture, for the enemy can also deceive. Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1. God's primary vision for us is revealed in His Word, and any true vision from Him will never contradict the Bible, but will align with it and point to Christ and holiness. We encourage you to seek vision not only as a supernatural experience, but as daily guidance through the Word, prayer, and the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord loves to give direction to those who trust Him. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. He promises I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow, and every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We thank You for our brother or sister who is hungry for Your will and not their own. Lord, we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon them and grant them clear vision and revelation according to Your perfect will. Open the eyes of their heart to see Your purposes, speak to them through Your Word, through prayer, and by Your Holy Spirit in a way that is unmistakably from You. Give them discernment to test every spirit and to hold fast to what is true and good, and give them courage to obey what You show them. Lead them away from merely pursuing personal goals and draw them into the center of Your calling for their life, that they may walk in the hope and future You have prepared. Make their path straight as they acknowledge You in all their ways, and fulfill the vision You give for Your glory. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.

We hear how much you want to follow God's leading and not just your own plans, and we are grateful for that humble desire.

Wanting vision is really wanting to know God's calling and to let it shape your daily choices. One thing that has helped us is learning the difference between a fleeting idea we get excited about and a steady sense of direction from God that grows over time. The first can feel like a quick answer, the second tends to draw us closer to Him and to what matters most to Him, and it holds up when tested in prayer, in Scripture, and with wise counsel.

A simple practice that often helps is setting aside unhurried time to seek Him and then noticing what persists. You might keep a small notebook for prayer, write down what you believe God is putting on your heart, and bring it to a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you well to talk and pray through it together. Staying faithful in the responsibilities already before you is often where that clarity becomes clearer.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus' name. Give wisdom, quiet confidence, and a clear sense of Your will step by step. Guard from simply chasing personal goals and draw this heart to love what You love. Lead in Your perfect way and give peace as You guide. Amen.

There is a godly wisdom in your desire not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord, and I rejoice to pray with you to that end.

You quote the ancient proverb, Where there is no vision, the people perish, and you do well to love that word. Yet understand what that vision is. It is not a fleeting dream of the night nor a fancy of our own heart, but the revealed counsel and Word of God. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth apart from Divine Inspiration are unsatisfying food. The true vision by which a soul does not perish is the sure revelation of God's will in Holy Scripture, applied to the heart by the Holy Spirit. Are you receiving His Divine influence, are you living under His power, are you receiving His fullness even now, for at bottom everything depends upon what we receive.

You have thanked the Father that He does not change like shifting shadows, and you have spoken truly. With the Father of lights there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from Him. So it is with God's purpose. The great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose, and what He purposes He fulfils. This is your comfort, that the visions He gives He will also fulfil, not because you are strong to hold them, but because He is faithful to perform them.

Would you be guided aright, then be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil, to bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very fact to be furnished with unerring guidance. David could say, Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. On earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by God's counsel, and there is no true glory for any man who takes his own course. Pray not only for a vision to see, but for a heart made willing in the day of God's power to do the Divine bidding.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou art the Father of lights with whom is no variableness, and that Thou fulfillest all Thy holy purpose. We bless Thee for Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, and by whose blood sinners are received and made Thy people. Grant to this dear soul not the visions of mere self desire, but the true vision of Thy revealed will. Open the eyes to behold wondrous things out of Thy law, and grant the gift of Thy Holy Spirit, that there may be a living faith and not a dead believing. Make willing to follow Thy counsel, keep from hasty and self willed courses, and guide with Thy counsel here, and afterward receive to glory. Let every good gift needed for life and godliness come down from above, and let Christ be all in all. In Jesus mighty and powerful name we ask it, amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
