Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join with you in thanking our Father that He does not change like shifting shadows and that every good and perfect gift truly does come from Him. We love your heart to seek not your own personal goals but the vision that comes from God, for we know Proverbs 29:18 tells us where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but one who keeps the law is blessed, and James 1:17 reminds us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

We want to encourage you that godly vision is more than personal ambition or even a dramatic experience, it is receiving and walking in what God has already revealed in His Word and by His Spirit. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path as Psalm 119:105 says, and when we trust in Yahweh with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledging Him, He will make our paths straight as Proverbs 3:5-6 promises. God does still speak and give visions and dreams according to His will, for it is written in Acts 2:17 it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Yet we are also taught to test the spirits whether they are of God as 1 John 4:1 says, because not every impression or vision is from Him, and any true vision will never contradict Scripture and will always point us to Jesus Christ and to holiness. The greatest vision we can pursue is to know Christ and to be conformed to His will, trusting Jeremiah 29:11 that He knows the thoughts He thinks toward us, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us hope and a future.

We pray together for you now. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this dear one who desires Your vision above their own plans. We ask in the mighty name of Jesus that You would grant clarity, wisdom and discernment, that You would speak in the way You choose, whether through Your written Word, through Your still small voice, through dreams or visions, all according to Your perfect will. Purify every motive and let no personal ambition remain, fill this heart with hunger for Your Word and obedience to it. Give testing of spirits and confirmation through Scripture and godly counsel, so that what is received is truly from You and bears fruit for Your glory. Fulfill what You have promised and lead step by step, for You are faithful to complete what You begin. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit and make Your path plain, that this life would not cast off restraint but would walk blessed in keeping Your law through Christ. We pray all this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We love your heart in this prayer. You want your life to be directed by God and not just by your own ambitions, and we hear how sincerely you want to stay close to Him.

One thing we have found helpful is to think of vision less as a dramatic image and more as a steady sense of God's calling that grows as we walk with Him. It gives us an appetite for what matters to Him and helps us make faithful choices day by day, which is different from just wishing for a quick, magic answer about the future. God's guidance often comes quietly through staying in His Word, through prayer, and through wise counsel from mature believers who know us, rather than only through an inner feeling we try to chase.

A simple next step that may help is to set aside a regular unhurried time to ask the Lord in prayer what faithfulness looks like today, and then talk through what you are sensing with a pastor or trusted believer who can help you weigh it.

Father, we bring our brother before you in Jesus name. Give him a clear heart to know and love your will, keep him from striving after his own plans, and lead him step by step in the way you have for him. Make his path steady and his trust deep in you. Amen.

There is a blessed wisdom in your desire not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord, for where there is no vision the people perish, and that vision is not a fancy of our own mind but a Word out of God's mouth. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth, apart from Divine Inspiration, must be as unsatisfying food as if men tried to live on stones.

Your prayer is that you may receive visions from God, and I would have you understand what this vision is. It is the revelation of His mind and will as it is given in Holy Scripture, and the counsel by which He guides His people. David said, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. On earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by God's counsel. There is no true glory for any man who takes his own course. The first way of guidance is to be guided by the general directions given in God's Word, and the next is by those great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. For the grace of God dethrones obstinacy and gives us in its place acquiescence in the Divine will, and by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance.

Be encouraged that you have asked according to the infallibility of God's purpose. The whole was written from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. You and I are only waves of His great sea, we wash up and seem to retire, but the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. It is the miracle of miracles that the creatures are free, absolutely free, and yet the divine purpose stands. So you may rest that what God reveals, He will fulfil, for with the Father of lights there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from above.

He who would have vision must be content to be God's pupil. As David said, O God, thou hast taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil. Being taken into the school of God, he was made to observe things, he had object lessons put before him and he learned to read God's work. So the Lord will teach you, not by flippant fancies, but by His Word and by His dealings, educating your faith and increasing your Divine graces.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou dost not change like shifting shadows, and that Thou fulfillest the visions Thou givest. We ask in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus that Thou wouldst grant to this Thy servant not the visions of a restless heart nor the mere pursuit of personal goals, but that true vision which is Thy revealed counsel. Open eyes to see Thy Word, give a heart to keep Thy law, for he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Guide with Thy counsel, teach as Thou hast taught Thy people from their youth, and make this life to be spent in declaring Thy wondrous works, until Thou shalt afterward receive to glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
