Vision

Kensem

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We are encouraged by your hunger to seek God's vision rather than merely following your own personal goals, and we join with you in prayer for this in Jesus' name.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, and we love your heart for the Word. In its fullness it says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. This shows us that true vision is not just a personal plan or ambition, but God's revealed will and His law. Without His revelation we lose direction and restraint, but when we walk in His truth we are blessed. We also rejoice that you prayed in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written, In none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12.

We thank God with you that He does not change like shifting shadows and that every good and perfect gift comes from Him. As you quoted, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. If God gives a vision, He is faithful to fulfill it in His perfect timing, for the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay. Habakkuk 2:3. We also remember His promise, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

We want to encourage you that God does still speak and give vision, as He promised, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet we must always test any vision or leading against the sure revelation of Scripture, which is our primary vision from God, and seek His wisdom daily. We are called to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, and that You give good and perfect gifts to Your children. We lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ and ask that You would pour out Your wisdom and revelation upon them. Grant them a clear vision that comes from Your heart and not from fleshly ambition, that they may walk in Your will and not merely pursue personal goals. Give them discernment to test every vision by Your Word, ears to hear Your voice, and a heart to obey Your law. Fulfill the vision You give in Your perfect timing for Your glory. Lead them and make their paths straight as they trust in You with all their heart. We ask this in Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We appreciated your honest prayer for God's vision instead of just chasing your own goals. That desire to be led rather than to lead yourself is a good place to be, and we are glad to stand with you in it.

We have found vision is less about a dramatic picture and more about a steady calling that shapes everyday choices. It gives a different appetite, a pull toward what honors God rather than just what feels exciting in the moment. Fantasy promises a quick answer, vision invites patient obedience one step at a time.

A simple next step that helps many is to keep bringing that same request before the Lord in quiet, unhurried prayer, and to weigh what you sense against what you know of God's Word and with a mature believer who knows you well. God often clarifies His direction through that steady fellowship with Him and with others. We are praying with you for that ongoing clarity.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Thank You that You do not change and that Your gifts are good. Give clarity where there is uncertainty and gently align their desires with Yours. Help them to recognize Your leading and to walk in it with peace and trust. Lead them day by day and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord is itself a gracious work, for naturally we do not like being guided, and it is only by a work of grace upon the heart that a man seeks to be guided by divine counsel.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18, where there is no vision the people perish. That vision is not a private impression or a nightly dream, but the revealed Word and counsel of God. Give me but a word out of God's mouth and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth apart from divine inspiration are unsatisfying. Where the Word of the Lord is not preached and obeyed, the people cast off restraint, but where it is heard and kept, there is life and keeping.

What you seek then is not to be found by waiting for a new revelation, for the whole purpose of God was written from the beginning and He has never altered a single line of it. His great sea of purpose is still moving on, and while we are free and responsible, yet His counsel shall stand. The miracle of miracles is that though the creature is free, absolutely free, yet the divine purpose stands. Your comfort is not that you might discover a fresh vision of your own, but that you may be guided by the counsel He has already given and afterward received to glory.

How does He guide His people. First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There you find precepts and principles, avoid everything that is evil, bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very fact you are furnished with unerring guidance. He taught David from his youth, chastening him and schooling him through many struggles, educating his faith, until David could say, O God, thou hast taught me from my youth and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. So He will make you His pupil, giving you object lessons from His Word and His works in providence, that you may wonder at them and speak of them.

Therefore haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Do not run before you are guided. Wait upon the Lord, search the Scriptures, pray for wisdom dressed in robes of love and tenderness to invite you into her arms, and yield your will to His.

We pray for you now that the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, would not give you a fleeting fancy but would open your eyes to behold wondrous things out of His law, that He would guide you with His counsel, establish your steps according to His Word, keep you from following your own desires, and make you to declare His wondrous works in Christ Jesus, in whose name alone is salvation, for the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. May He fulfill in you all His holy purpose and at the last receive you to glory. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer reflects a sincere desire to follow the Lord rather than your own plans, and I join you in bringing that before God.

Proverbs 29:18 is often understood as speaking about personal goals or dreams for the future, but the word translated vision there means prophetic revelation, the revealed word of God. Where there is no revelation and preaching of that word, the people cast off restraint. So the need is not for a new personal picture of success, but for a clear sight of what God has already spoken, that you may walk in it.

Scripture shows that God did give sensible visions at particular moments for particular purposes. Peter was shown the sheet let down from heaven not to guide his private ambitions, but to teach him that God had cleansed the Gentiles and was calling them into one Church. At the baptism of Jesus the Spirit appeared as a dove not because the apostles needed a sign for themselves, but to point out the Son of God to those present. Signs are given for those who do not yet believe, but for those who believe, faith resting on what has already been revealed is sufficient. God has blessed us and chosen us in Christ according to an eternal purpose purposed from the beginning, not as a new or changing plan, and He makes that purpose known through Christ and through the Scriptures.

That is why the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning, is to be sought above all in His Word. Every good and perfect gift comes down from Him, and the greatest gift is that He has spoken clearly in the gospel and continues to illuminate our understanding by the Holy Spirit as we hear and obey it. A disordered mind can mistake its own thoughts for a vision, so whatever impression comes must be tested by Scripture and by the mind made sober through prayer and the counsel of the Church.

I pray for you now that the Lord will grant you that true vision. May He give you a steady sight of His will in Scripture, wisdom to discern His leading, and a heart that loves His commands more than personal goals. May He keep you from chasing empty imaginations and instead ground you in faith, so that you walk in the good works He prepared beforehand for you. May He who does not change fulfill in you what He has promised in Christ, and guide your steps by His light.

In Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

Your hunger to follow God's leading rather than your own personal goals is a right desire, and I thank God with you that He does not change like shifting shadows and that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

The verse you mentioned is often understood as speaking about personal dreams or goals, but in its context the word translated vision means the revealed word and counsel of God. Where that prophetic revelation is neglected, people cast off restraint. The true vision God gives is not an ambition we create for ourselves, but His own Word making His will and His Son known to us.

That helps us understand what biblical visions are. The book of Revelation begins by telling us it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ. The word translated revelation means an unveiling, the lifting of a covering so that what was hidden can be seen. Most of what John received came by way of vision, which is insight into the spiritual reality that surrounds us but cannot be seen with natural eyes. John was guided as he received it, at times by an angel, at times by elders around the throne, and by the Lord Jesus Himself. Ezekiel likewise was given a vision of the throne of God. In each case the point was not to give a person a plan for self fulfillment, but to unveil the glory of Christ and His future.

That points to what God most wants to do in your life. His intent and purpose is to conform you to the image of Christ through the work of His Spirit, so that you respond as Christ responds, love as He loves, and forgive as He forgave. Scripture teaches that you were created for His pleasure, not for your own. That means fulfillment does not come from pleasing yourself or even from pursuing a personal vision, but from coming into a loving relationship with God through Jesus and seeking to please Him. When you live for His pleasure you are living according to the very purpose for which you exist.

The good news is that this unveiling of Jesus is not a sealed or hidden book. God has already given us His Word openly, and it is there that He shows us His character, His promises, and His will. As you stay in the Scriptures, the Spirit uses that Word to give light, to correct, to guide, and to shape your desires so they align with His.

I pray for you that the Lord will give you clear understanding of His Word and a deeper beholding of Jesus Christ, who is the center of all true revelation. May He guard you from merely chasing your own ideas and instead teach you to seek His will above all, to find your joy in pleasing Him, and to be transformed daily to be more like His Son. May He, who gives every good gift and who is faithful to fulfill what He has revealed, lead you step by step by His Spirit and establish your path in a way that brings Him glory. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for allowing us to stand in agreement with you in prayer concerning visions from God. We are glad you asked us to pray that you would receive visions from the Lord so that you would not just follow your own personal goals but walk in His perfect purpose.

We have been praying that the Father of lights would make His vision clear to you according to Proverbs 29:18 and that He would guard you from perishing for lack of vision. We are trusting with you in the promise of James 1:17 that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning, and that He will fulfil the visions He gives.

If your request was answered and God has granted you vision and direction, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for the Lord to reveal His vision to you, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray that He will open the eyes of your heart, that He will pour out wisdom and revelation upon you, and that He will make His plans and vision plain for your life for His glory. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
