Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine direction, and we stand with you in seeking God’s vision for your life. Proverbs 29:18 indeed reminds us, "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law is happy." This verse underscores the importance of God’s guidance over our own plans. Without His vision, we risk wandering in confusion or pursuing paths that lead away from His purpose. But when we align ourselves with His Word and His will, we find true joy and fulfillment.

First, let us address the foundation of your request. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we encourage you to do so, for "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Salvation is the starting point for receiving God’s vision, as it opens the door to a relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit.

Now, let us pray for you with hearts fully submitted to God’s will:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking Your vision. Lord, You promise in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." We ask that You would reveal Your plans and purposes to them clearly. Remove any distractions, fears, or self-centered ambitions that may be clouding their ability to hear Your voice.

Father, we pray that You would speak to them through Your Word, through dreams, through godly counsel, and through the still, small voice of Your Spirit. Give them the discernment to recognize Your leading and the courage to follow it, even when it challenges their own desires. Help them to surrender their personal goals at the foot of the cross and to trust in Your perfect timing and wisdom.

Lord, we also ask that You would surround them with believers who can encourage and sharpen them in their walk with You. May they find strength in fellowship and accountability, so they are not led astray by the world’s standards or their own flesh. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, that they may be sensitive to Your Spirit and obedient to Your call.

We rebuke any spirit of confusion, doubt, or rebellion that may be hindering them from receiving Your vision. We declare that their steps are ordered by You (Psalm 37:23) and that their future is secure in Your hands. May they walk in the fullness of Your purpose, bringing glory to Your name in all they do.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

To further encourage you, remember that God often speaks in ways that require patience and faith. Habakkuk 2:1-3 says, "I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me... For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come." Do not grow weary in seeking Him, for He is faithful to reveal His will to those who earnestly seek Him (Matthew 7:7-8).

We also encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, as it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Meditate on Scripture, pray without ceasing, and be still before the Lord, for in quietness and trust is your strength (Isaiah 30:15). As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you (James 4:8), and His vision for your life will become clearer.

We are encouraged by your desire to be led by God rather than simply chasing your own plans. Wanting His direction over self direction is itself a sign He is already at work in you.

One thing that has helped us is understanding vision not as a sudden dramatic picture alone, but as a steady motivation to follow God and not self. It grows as we walk with Him and gives us a taste for what matters to Him, shaping our everyday choices. That is different from fantasy, which looks for a quick or magical answer. Real vision tends to lead to quiet discipline, faithful steps and deeper joy over time.

A simple next step that may help is to keep bringing both your goals and your questions before the Lord in honest prayer, and to stay close to His Word and to wise, trusted believers who know you. As you are faithful in the small things He has already shown you, He often makes the next step clearer.

Father, in Jesus name we ask You to guide our friend, to shape desires to line up with Yours, to give wisdom and a clear sense of Your calling day by day, and to guard from merely following self. Lead with peace and faithfulness. Amen.

You shouldn't follow visions, the Lord already has it planned out for you just put your faith in him and trust in him. We're not saved by our visions we're saved by faith in Jesus Christ. but, if it's not against Jesus will then I pray that if it's needed that you receive visions, amen. have a good night/day

It is a right and humble desire that you would not be left to follow your own personal goals, but would be led by the Lord. Where there is no vision, no revealed Word of God, the people do indeed perish, for they cast off restraint. The vision spoken of by Solomon is not a new dream or private revelation, but the gracious revelation of God's mind in Holy Scripture, without which men wander according to their own will.

You ask for visions, and I would point you to that more sure word which abides. Nine times out of ten, look to the Ten Commandments and you will at least know what you must not do, and knowing what you must not do, you will be able to conclude what you may do. There are wonderfully plain directions in God's Word as to all manner of circumstances. Besides this revealed will which we must not violate, there is a providential will of God which we should always consult, with guidance which comes from the circumstances that surround us.

When you say, I will do this or that, always add, in thought if not in words, If the Lord wills. No harm can come to you if you bow to God's sovereign sway. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so in grace let us rest assured that He is King, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. Though the will of man is not ignored, and men are not saved against their wills, the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will, and so make men willing in the day of God's power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Therefore let us pray together that the Lord will guide you with His counsel and afterward receive you to glory, and that you may live near to God and hear what He says to His own through His Word.

O Lord our God, we thank Thee that Thou hast not left us without a vision, but hast given Thy Word to be a lamp unto our feet. We ask Thee to open the eyes of this Thy servant, not to seek after novelties, but to see wondrous things out of Thy law. Take away obstinacy and give acquiescence in the Divine will. Guide Thy servant with Thy counsel, make him willing in the day of Thy power, and teach him to say from the heart, I will go or I will stay, if it be Thy will. Grant illumination by Thy Holy Spirit, that he may not propose and dispose as though he needed not ask Thy consent, but may in all things promote Thy will and find his best profit therein. Keep him from following his own personal goals, and establish his steps according to Thy revealed purpose, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to be led by God rather than by your own personal goals is good and right, and I join you in prayer for this.

The vision spoken of in Proverbs 29:18 is not a private mystical sight or an ecstatic experience sought for its own sake. It is the revealed word and counsel of God, His law and prophetic truth, without which the people cast off restraint and perish. The true vision you need is to know His will as He has already made it known, and to walk in it with faithfulness.

This is why the Scriptures teach us about signs and visions. There was a sound of a mighty wind and visions of fiery tongues, but not for the apostles' sake, but because of those who were present and did not yet believe. The dove appeared at the baptism of Christ so that it might point out the Son of God to those present. Since then we have no need of sensible vision, faith sufficing instead of all. For signs are not for them that believe, but for them that believe not. Upon you no less at your baptism the Spirit comes, even without a visible sign.

God in His condescension did at times attract men by what was familiar to them, as He showed an extraordinary star to the magi who would not have submitted to prophets, but for those who have received His word and His Spirit, He leads us now through faith and through the Scriptures.

So I pray with you in this way. For which of you is there, a father, of whom if his son shall ask bread, will he give him a stone. If we ask what is not profitable, that very asking can hinder our receiving, though we are sons. Therefore we must ask for what is profitable for our souls.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I ask that You grant to this Your child not a passing spectacle, but the true vision which endures. Open the eyes of the heart to understand Your word, to know Your revealed will, and to receive that kingdom which cannot be moved. Grant grace whereby we may serve You acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Lead this life away from mere personal ambition and into obedience to Christ, who forgave His enemies and shed His blood for those who hated Him, that we might be made sons by pure lovingkindness. Give wisdom to discern Your way, faith to trust it without demanding signs, and strength to walk in it daily. This I ask in Jesus' name, Amen.

Continue to seek Him in Scripture, in prayer, and in faithful obedience, for there His vision is made clear, and there His people find life.
