We join with you in bringing this desire for victory and success before the Lord, and we hear your heart to be blessed and to be the head and not the tail, above only and never beneath.
We want to gently share the biblical context of that beautiful promise, because God does desire to bless His children, but true victory and success are found in walking in obedience to Him and seeking His will above our own. The promise you are quoting comes from Deuteronomy 28:13 where the Lord says to Israel, if you listen diligently to Yahweh your God, you will be the head, and not the tail; and you will be above only, and you will not be beneath. This blessing was tied to faithfulness and obedience to His word. Likewise Joshua 1:8 tells us This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. And Proverbs 16:3 says Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.
Victory in Scripture is not always what the world calls success in every earthly endeavor, but it is the assurance that when we are in Christ we are already victorious over sin and death. Romans 8:37 says in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us, and 2 Corinthians 2:14 says thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph. When we seek first His Kingdom, He aligns our steps and our successes with His perfect purpose for us. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Psalm 37:4 also reminds us to delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart, when our desires are shaped by Him.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can receive every spiritual blessing. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. True and lasting victory begins with putting our faith in Jesus Christ, believing He died for our sins and rose again, and surrendering our lives to Him. It is in His name that our prayers are heard.
So we pray together for you now.

We ask that You grant victory and success today, tomorrow, and throughout this whole year, not according to worldly ambition, but according to Your perfect will and purpose. Lead this one in triumph in Christ and make this one more than a conqueror through Your love. Draw this one closer to Jesus, and if there has not yet been a full surrender to Him, open the heart to receive Him as Lord and Savior today. Your prayer for victory and success and blessing in everything is heard, and it reveals a heart that longs for the favor of God, which is a good longing when it is rightly understood.
Let us consider what the Scripture means when it speaks of blessing and victory and being the head and not the tail. No spiritual blessing comes to any man by chance. Every true blessing comes from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Apostle tells us that we are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. He has blessed us just where we needed blessing, where we were poorest in spiritual things. The double blessing of grace and peace is the root of all other blessing, for without grace to cleanse us from all our filthiness and from all our idols, and without a new heart and a new spirit within us, what would outward success profit us.
You quote the promise, to be the head and not the tail, to be above only and never beneath. That word was spoken to Israel with this condition, only if you carefully listen to the voice of the Lord your God. It was not a promise of worldly prosperity at our own bidding, but a covenant word that points us to obedience. The Lord says, I will cause you to walk in My statutes. There is the true success, when by His grace we walk in His ways. And if we would know the true path of success, we must wait upon the Lord and learn His way, for by waiting we may find out the true path of success.
So also concerning victory. The victory which God gives is not that we shall never know trial or never taste disappointment in earthly things. How glorious was that picture of Moses with uplifted hands upon the top of the hill giving victory to Joshua in the plains below. Those uplifted arms were worth ten thousand men to the hosts of Israel, for Joshua went forth with men of war, but the Lord, Jehovah Nissi, was the banner of the fight and the giver of the victory. Thus the Eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. You shall fight the fight till the victory comes, and even in the hour of extremity you shall triumph over death and enter into the presence of God. The victory of faith by which Abraham vanquished his foes was not only a victory on the battlefield, but a victory afterwards in a life separated unto God.
And what is the purpose of blessing. First you must get the blessing yourself, for until it can be said to you, I will bless you, it cannot be said, you shall be a blessing. When God has blessed any man, He makes that man to be a blessing to others. The Lord fills him that he may overflow with blessing for those around him. We can win hearts to Him through His mighty grace blessing our service. We can fight against evil. We can set up a standard for the truth of God. We can be willing to suffer in repute and every way else for His name's sake, and thus we are blessing God. For it should be our life to bless Him who gave us our life, to sit and keep on blessing God from the first word to the last, and then to go on blessing God till the last hour of life.
Therefore my prayer for you is not that you should have unbroken worldly prosperity in everything after your own will, for that would not be for your good, but that the Lord would command His blessing upon you in the way of holiness and usefulness. May He give you victory over sin, over temptation, over the world and the flesh, and make you victorious through Christ who loved you. May He give you success in that which most matters, that you should be a blessing wherever you may be and whatever you may do, in your home, in your labor, in your church, by your prayers and by your testimony to Christ. May He give you grace to listen carefully to His voice, to walk in His statutes with a new heart, and to know that whether He gives or withholds earthly increase, you are blessed indeed because you are in Christ.
May the Lord greatly bless you in the land where He has placed you, not merely for one year but with fruit that remains. May grace and peace be yours in full measure, and may you be kept so as to bless His name, today and tomorrow and all the days He appoints for you, until you triumph at last through Him who is our refuge and our victory.

Your longing to be victorious and blessed in everything this year is heard, and it is good to bring every desire before God. Yet Scripture teaches us to understand what true blessing and true victory are.
Under the old covenant, blessing was spoken of in earthly terms, the fruit of the body, going out and coming in, being the head and not the tail and being above only. But in Christ we have been given something greater, every spiritual blessing. You are made a child of God, forgiven, made righteous, made an heir with Christ, called to reign with Him and to be glorified with Him. There is nothing carnal in this blessing, and it surpasses all outward prosperity.
Christ Himself said, in the world you have tribulation, to lead us toward those spiritual things. Even Jacob who received the promise spent his days in servitude and danger and plots and fears, and said few and evil have my days been, while the fulfillment of the blessing was kept for what is to come and for his posterity. So we learn not to measure God's favor only by always being above and never beneath in this life.
True victory also is not what the world calls victory. Often to seem defeated while bearing wrong with self control and patience is the better victory, and it brings a crown that worldly success cannot give. Let us not seek victory everywhere in earthly terms, but seek the victory that remains for ever and ever in Christ.
Therefore we are called to give thanks in all things, not only when we are comfortable and successful. When we are in affliction and discouragement we still say, Lord I thank you, trusting that God does good to us both by enjoyment and by chastisement. Prosperity can lift the heart to pride, while affliction can draw us near to God and teach us His statutes.
So my prayer for you is not that every outward plan will succeed without trial, but that you will know the deeper success God delights to give. I pray that you will have victory over sin through Jesus Christ, that you will apply yourself to the toils that virtue requires and so attract His help, that you will stand firm and give thanks whether in abundance or in need, and that you will lay hold of the eternal blessings kept for those who love Him. May His grace guide you today and tomorrow and through all this year, and use whatever He allows, whether plenty or want, for your good and His glory. Amen.
