We hear the depth of your pain and the urgency in your cry, and we join with you in bringing this great hurt before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand you have suffered greatly and you believe many others have as well, and your heart is longing for justice to be done without delay.
We want to gently share what Scripture teaches about asking and about justice, because God's Word says in 1 John 5:14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And in Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. God does invite us to ask, but He answers according to His perfect will, His wisdom and His timing, not always as we in our pain might demand in the moment. His justice is perfect, while our anger, even when it comes from real wounding, can lead us away from His heart if we are not careful.
Scripture is very clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord and not to us. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Jesus calls us to a higher way even toward those who have harmed us in Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. This does not mean that wrongdoing should be ignored or that there should be no accountability. Psalm 103:6 says Yahweh executes righteous acts and justice for all who are oppressed. God is a just judge who sees all that is hidden and He will bring truth to light in His way. We must leave room for His righteous judgment rather than asking Him to act as an instrument of our own wrath.
We also hear your desire that this surgeon be exposed and prevented from harming others if he has truly caused harm. It is right to pray for truth to be revealed and for the protection of patients, and it is also right to pursue rightful and lawful means of accountability through proper medical authorities if there has been wrongdoing. We can pray for justice while also releasing bitterness to God, so that bitterness does not take root in our own hearts. Hebrews 12:15 warns us to watch lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you. Forgiveness in the biblical sense does not mean saying what happened was okay or that consequences should not follow, it means entrusting the judgment to God and freeing our own hearts from hatred.
We pray together now for you and for this situation.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to You and by which we are saved, for Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other. Lord, You see the suffering of this dear one who is crying out to You, You know every detail of what has happened, every wound and every tear. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and we ask You to draw near now with Your comfort and healing. Heal the brokenheartedness and the body, for Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Grant peace that surpasses understanding and guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Lord, we ask for Your perfect justice and truth to prevail. If wrong has been done by this surgeon, we pray that You would bring what is hidden into the light, that You would protect other patients from harm, and that You would move upon those in rightful authority to investigate with honesty and to act righteously. We pray that You would not allow injustice to continue, but we entrust the outcome to Your hands and not to vengeance. We also pray for this surgeon, that if there is sin or negligence or pride, You would bring conviction that leads to repentance, and that You would have mercy on his soul while also stopping any harm. We ask You to bring him to a place of truth before You.
Father, we pray that You would root out any spirit of revenge in our hearts and replace it with trust in You as the righteous Judge. Teach us to love and pray even for those who have hurt us, and help this dear one to release this burden to You and to walk in forgiveness as You have forgiven us. Let Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, and let healing and justice flow according to Your perfect wisdom and timing. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring your pain to the Lord honestly, to seek godly counsel and support, and if you believe medical wrongdoing has occurred, to also seek wise and proper channels for review so that truth can be established lawfully. Keep seeking the Lord and trusting that He hears you, that He loves you deeply, and that He will act justly and mercifully in His perfect time.
