We hear the deep pain and urgency in your cry and we stand with you before the Lord in Jesus name, asking for His justice, His mercy, and His healing to be made known.
We understand how deeply wounding it is to be treated badly when you were vulnerable and in need of care, and to know that others may have been hurt in the same way. The Lord sees what has been done and He does not overlook it, for He is a God of justice and righteousness. At the same time we must gently bring your prayer before the truth of Scripture, because part of what you are asking, that this man would have absolutely no peace or joy and would be punished and shamed, comes from a place of hurt that God wants to heal and redirect.
The Word tells us Beloved, don’t avenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. And Jesus calls us to a higher way when He says But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44, and again Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you Luke 6:28. We are also warned Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32.
This does not mean what happened does not matter or that wrong should be hidden. God does bring conviction through His Holy Spirit, for Jesus said He will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment John 16:8. And it is right to pray that wrongdoing be exposed so that others are protected and that justice be done through proper and lawful means, and to pray above all that this man would come to genuine repentance and salvation. The Lord has said As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live Ezekiel 33:11, and The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. So we do not pray for his destruction or for shaming for its own sake, but that God in His mercy would bring godly sorrow that leads to true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
We also pray for you, that the Lord would lift this heavy burden of anger and pain from your heart and heal you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We ask God to replace the desire for vengeance with His peace and to help you forgive as you have been forgiven, while still trusting Him to deal justly.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to You and by which we are saved. Lord, You see the hurt that has been caused and You know the truth about how this man has treated this dear one and many other patients. We ask that Your will be done. We ask that You convict his heart by Your Holy Spirit, that You open his eyes to the wrong he has done, and that You lead him to humbly fall to his knees in genuine repentance and to give his life fully and sincerely to Jesus Christ. If there is wrongdoing that needs to be exposed to protect others, we ask that You bring it to light in Your perfect and just way, not for our revenge but for righteousness and for the good of all. Lord, we release this man into Your hands for justice and for mercy, asking that You would save him rather than destroy him. And Father, we lift up the one who has been hurt, we ask that You heal every wound, comfort every painful memory, and fill this heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us and to trust You as our just Judge and Healer. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
