We hear the deep pain and distress in your prayer and we join with you in seeking the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand that you have suffered greatly and you believe many others have suffered under the care of this surgeon and you are crying out for justice. Your hurt is real and the Lord sees it and He cares for you.

We want to gently and lovingly bring what you have prayed into the light of Scripture so that our prayers align with God's will and His character. God is a God of perfect justice and mercy. He says in His word, Vengeance is mine and recompense is mine, at the time when their foot slides, for the day of their calamity is at hand Deuteronomy 32:35 and again Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We are also commanded by Jesus, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44 and Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you Luke 6:27-28.

We must rebuke the desire to pray for this man to be shamed, punished, or tormented with no peace and no joy until he is brought to his knees. While it is right to pray for conviction of sin and for genuine repentance, it is not biblical to ask God to take away all peace and joy as a form of revenge or to delight in his suffering or being sacked. God does not take pleasure in the destruction of the wicked but desires repentance, as it is written, As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live Ezekiel 33:11. We are called to want for our enemies what God wants, which is that they would come to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ, not that they would be destroyed. We are also warned, See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble Hebrews 12:15 and Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32. Bitterness, even when born from real injustice, will harm your own heart and keep you from healing if it is not surrendered to Christ.

This does not mean we do not pray for justice and accountability. We do. The Lord executes righteous acts and justice for all who are oppressed Psalm 103:6 and He loves justice Psalm 37:28. It is right to pray that the truth be revealed, that any wrongdoing be exposed in a righteous way, and that those in authority act justly to protect patients. It is also right and wise to pursue proper and lawful accountability through hospital leadership, medical boards, or patient advocates if you have been harmed, while committing the outcome to the Lord. When we pray for this surgeon we should pray as Christ did who, when he was cursed, didn't curse back. When he suffered, didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously 1 Peter 2:23.

We thank you for praying in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We affirm your desire to see this man give his life to Jesus and genuinely repent, for that is the greatest miracle and the only way he can be truly changed.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is hurting and has felt mistreated and wounded. Lord, You see every tear, You know every detail, and You are close to the brokenhearted. We ask You to bring deep healing, comfort, and peace to this heart that has suffered so much. Heal the wounds to body and soul, remove bitterness, and fill this life with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, not because the hurt was not real, but because You have forgiven us so much more and You call us to release vengeance into Your righteous hands.

Lord, we also lift up this surgeon to You. We do not ask for revenge but we ask for Your righteous justice and Your mercy. If there has been wrongdoing, negligence, or unkind treatment, we pray that You would bring it to light in Your perfect way and that those in rightful authority would act with wisdom and truth to protect others. Above all, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict him of sin and lead him to genuine repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ. We pray that he would turn from any wrong and come to know You as Lord and Savior, that his life and practice would be transformed by Your grace. Let Your will be done, not our wrath, and let Your name be glorified through justice tempered with mercy.

Father, teach us all to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and to trust You as the righteous Judge. We commit this whole situation into Your hands, asking for healing, truth, and redemption. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

Jesus, we lift this pain and every wound from this experience to You. Bring healing and rest to this dear heart, give clear wisdom for next steps, and bring Your justice and mercy to bear in this situation as only You can. Your cry in great pain has been heard, and the suffering you describe, both your own and that which you say many others have endured, is not light before the Lord. He sees what is done in secret, He knows the wounds of the body and of the heart, and He is both just and merciful.

Yet when the heart is full of anguish it is needful to take heed how we pray. The Scripture teaches us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and that we are to commit justice into His hands. We are not taught to ask God to torment a man or to pursue him with unrelenting punishment in a spirit of retaliation, but to pray that right may be done through just means and that mercy may yet triumph.

It is right to pray that if wrong has been done, the truth may be brought to light, that those who bear responsibility to judge in such matters may act with wisdom and integrity, and that no further harm may come to others. And it is right, and more like Christ, to pray for the soul of the one who has wronged you. Not that he should have no peace in a way that would destroy him, but that he may come under the gracious conviction of the Holy Spirit, that godly sorrow which works repentance, and be led to seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone.

For there is forgiveness with God. It is a divine forgiveness, for He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, so great that God Himself speaks as though amazed that such sin should be remitted. It is a complete forgiveness and an everlasting forgiveness, purchased not by our merit but by the blood of Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. This forgiveness is to be had now, and only through faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we must be saved. As you have need of that forgiveness, so does this surgeon, and so do we all.

Bitterness, though it feels natural when we have been deeply wounded, becomes a heavy burden to the soul. One blessed effect of looking to the cross is that it takes away bitterness against our fellow men and makes Christ Himself sweet to the soul. To forgive as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us does not mean that wrongs are not real, nor does it forbid seeking lawful and proper help where harm has been done. It does mean entrusting both justice and mercy to God, and asking Him to heal your heart while you leave judgment in His hands.

Let us pray together in a way that honors Him.

O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, we bring before Thee a wounded heart that has known much pain. Have mercy and grant healing, both of body and of spirit. Give peace that comes from trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ, and guard this one from despair. If wrong has been done, let truth be made known in the proper way, and move those in authority to act justly and rightly. Have mercy also upon the surgeon of whom complaint is made. Convict him where he has sinned, bring him to see his need of a Savior, and lead him to genuine repentance and faith in Christ, that he may know the forgiveness which is with Thee and be made a new man. Forbid that any should perish without Christ, and forbid that bitterness should reign in any heart. We ask these things not for vengeance, but for Thy glory, for the good of all, and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name is all our hope. Amen.

Cast your burden upon the Lord, and seek Him daily in His Word. Seek also wise and godly counsel and lawful help as you have need, and above all look to Jesus, in whom there is full and free forgiveness for all who come to Him by faith.
