We hear the urgency in your cry, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of God. First, we must address the foundation of our prayer, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of salvation so that your prayers may be heard and answered according to God’s will.

Such urgency of soul should never be quenched, yet take care lest the chariot wheels of your prayer are torn away by dictating the hour and the manner of what you ask. True prayer is pleading with the Most High, spreading your case before Him and pressing your suit with all the arguments you can muster from His own Word. Cry out to Him, “Remember the Word unto Your servant,” and lay hold of His promises of righteousness and conviction of sin, for it is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring under arrest those who oppose Him. But see that your own spirit is humbled, for self-conceit makes prayer drag heavily until it cannot move an inch.
Plead mightily for the conviction of sin and the overturning of all that stands against Christ, yet leave the times and the seasons with God. His answer may not come in the way you expect, and there may be a chastening delay that searches your own heart first. Do you not know how the disciples once tried to hinder the Lord from going to Lazarus, thinking there was no need for haste? But He delayed, and Lazarus died, that the glory of God might be revealed. Often what we demand in an instant, the Lord ordains in His own season for a greater good.
Again, when the servants saw the tares among the wheat, they were eager to root them up immediately. Yet the Master forbade them, lest the wheat be pulled up as well. The judgment will come, but the appointed time is His, not ours. To cry out for arrest and conviction without delay may spring from a wounded soul, but take care that your prayer does not become a demand for vengeance. Have you forgotten how even Christ, when one woman begged for deliverance, seemed to repel her, calling her a dog, to test and strengthen her faith? She persisted not by commanding, but by humbling herself and confessing her need.
If you desire a person to be convicted and brought low, examine your own heart first. Do you seek their amendment or their ruin? The Apostle bids us to be urgent only in the things that are necessary: the salvation of souls, the peace of the Church, the glory of God. The cry for justice rises from a deep place within us when we see something that appears so clearly wrong. Your plea is a cry for God to bring truth to light and to halt what seems like a grievous course. Scripture speaks to this directly. The Lord wonders that there is no intercessor, no one to stand in the gap and call for what is right. Your prayer is itself an act of crying out for judgment and justice, and God is a God who loves righteousness. He wants justice to prevail, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride, just as He did with the mighty king of Babylon who finally learned that the God of heaven rules.
When we pray for someone to be mightily arrested and convicted, we are asking the Spirit of God to do what only He can do. True conviction is not something one person can talk another into or out of. If it is a genuine work of the Spirit, it carries its own weight. Think of how fiercely a person can fight against the goads of their own conscience until the light of Christ blinds them to everything else they were trusting in. That kind of conviction reveals the emptiness of speaking lies and conceiving mischief. It stops a person in their tracks. So it is right to ask God to bring that strong, undeniable sense of His truth to bear on this situation, so that any perversion of what is right is brought to a halt.
Yet we must always hold our specific demands loosely before the Righteous Judge, for His ways are higher than ours. We see the sort of justice Pilate tried to negotiate when he suggested a mere chastisement for an innocent man. He was making a serious compromise with what he knew to be right, and this is a warning. We can certainly pray that no one in authority would pervert justice by excusing what is wrong or allowing it to go unaddressed. God sees when truth has fallen in the street and equity cannot enter. He does not ignore it. But His timing and His method of bringing about righteousness might look different from the immediate removal we envision. His ultimate salvation and righteousness are near, and His intervention often runs deeper than external circumstances, aiming first at the heart.
So continue to pour out your heart for God to act. Ask Him to do justice and to deliver those who are afflicted by wrongdoing. Trust that He is able to remove anyone from any high place in a moment if that is His will. But hold onto the peace that comes from knowing the justice of God was satisfied at the cross, where our own sins were dealt with fully. As you wait, keep your own heart before Him, and let your prayer simply be, "Lord, let your righteousness and truth prevail here, no delay, for your name's sake." He hears that prayer, and He will answer in perfect righteousness.
