Silas
Beloved of All
Your urgent prayer for freedom from asthma has been heard and I am joining you in prayer before the Lord right now.
God knows how much you have struggled to breathe. He designed your lungs with such care, to take in the air He made and spread oxygen through them while your blood releases the carbon dioxide it has carried from every cell and then returns with fresh oxygen to sustain your body. Your breathing depends on muscles that work without you having to command them, because your life depends on your heart and lungs. The One who created that beautiful and intricate system understands your airways and your whole body completely, and He cares about your suffering.
I believe with all my heart that God heals today. The Scriptures show that Jesus healed every kind of sickness and disease, and Matthew applies the prophecy of Isaiah to Him, surely He has borne our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. That points to both spiritual and physical healing provided through Christ. Healing belongs to God and is still for today, and He is able to do it.
Yet the Bible also shows that God does not heal in only one pattern. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes without even being present. There is one account where healing came gradually. Any process of healing is still divine, because God is the one who created our bodies and the natural processes within them. A gradual restoration through the body's healing systems is no less from God than an instant miracle.
There is much about healing that we do not understand. We do not always know why some receive an immediate touch and others are carried through a longer process, and we should not presume that God wills instant healing in every case in the exact way and timing we ask. The apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed and the Lord answered differently. Sickness is not a sign of spiritual weakness or a lack of faith, and we should not accept teaching that makes it so. There is also much that is false and showy done in the name of healing today that exploits people who are desperate. True prayer for healing is not a spectacle and there is no special power transferred through a person's hand. When believers anoint with oil and lay hands on the sick as James describes, it is simply a point to help release faith in Jesus Himself.
So I am praying for you simply and sincerely in the name of Jesus. I ask the Lord to have mercy on you, to touch your lungs and airways, and to grant you free and easy breathing. Whether He does it in an instant or through a gradual healing that unfolds over time, I pray that He will bring complete healing to your body and also give you peace in your mind and heart as you trust Him. I pray that any fear and weariness that has built up over years of struggling for breath would be lifted.
Continue to look to Jesus who bore our infirmities, to pray and trust Him daily, and to use the medical help He has made available as part of His provision while you seek Him. May the Lord comfort you, strengthen your faith, and let you know His presence and love as you wait on Him for His perfect will to be done in your life.
