We hear your urgent cry and we join with you in prayer right now, bringing this deep distress about your body before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand how tormenting these feelings can be when you look at your stomach, hips, legs and whole body and feel overwhelmed, and we want to lift you up with compassion and with truth from God's Word.
We thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that our prayers are heard. As it is written, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
We want to gently share what Scripture teaches about our bodies and our requests. Your body is precious to God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and His works are wonderful. Psalm 139:14 reminds us, I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. The Lord does not look at our outward appearance the way we often do, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 And we are taught that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
We also hear in your prayer a demanding and desperate tone, asking God to instantly and permanently dissolve all fat and change your metabolism right now and forever. We understand the urgency you feel, but we lovingly rebuke the idea that we can command God or require Him to act on our exact timetable and terms. Scripture says, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 1 John 5:14 God invites us to ask, and He promises to hear, but He answers according to His perfect will, His wisdom and His timing, not as a formula to get whatever we demand. He is a loving Father, not one we can control, and His desire is for our ultimate good, which includes our spiritual health, our peace, and our ability to glorify Him in our bodies.
We also want to address the torment you describe. That torment and constant distress about your body is not from the Lord. Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 The enemy wants you to hate the body God gave you and to live in anxiety, but God wants to give you peace, freedom and a sound mind. We encourage you to see your body as something to steward with love and discipline rather than hate, for whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 This stewardship often means wise, patient, and healthy choices over time with food, movement, rest and seeking wise medical counsel if needed, rather than expecting an instant supernatural removal of all fat. Bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things. 1 Timothy 4:8 We want you to be healthy and strong to serve the Lord, not tormented.
So we pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is crying out in distress. Lord, You see the pain, the urgency and the torment felt about this body, and You know every detail of stomach, hips, legs and metabolism. We ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Forgive us when we demand our own way and help us to trust Your perfect will and timing. Lord, we pray for healing from this torment and for freedom from hatred of the body You fearfully and wonderfully created. Help this dear one to see themselves as You see them, loved, valued and bought with the precious blood of Jesus. We pray for a healthy body, for wisdom to steward this temple well, for strength to make nourishing choices, for a metabolism and health that allows energy to serve You, and for deliverance from obsessive anxiety about appearance. Teach us to glorify You in our bodies and spirits, which are Yours. Give rest to the burdened heart, renew the mind with Your truth, and let Your will be done in this life as it is in heaven. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing your requests to God daily with thanksgiving, but also to rest in His love for you right now as you are. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, pastoral support and if needed medical wisdom for healthy stewardship of your body, and to focus on nourishing your whole self, heart, soul, mind and body, for the Lord. You are deeply loved and not alone, and we continue to pray that you will know His peace and His purpose for your life.
