We have heard your very urgent cry and we join with you in prayer before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name, bringing your deep desire for health and change to Him. We understand how strongly you feel about your body and how much distress the weight on your stomach, hips, legs, under arms and whole body has caused you, and we want to lift you up with compassion and truth.

We know our bodies matter to God, for His Word says we are fearfully and wonderfully made in Psalm 139:14 and that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within us in 1 Cor 6:19-20, and that we are to glorify God in our body. He also desires that we prosper and be in health in 3 John 1:2 and that whatever we do, we do all to the glory of God in 1 Cor 10:31. Yet prayer is not a formula of repeating words to compel God to do exactly what we demand in the moment we demand it. Jesus taught us to ask, seek and knock in Matt 7:7, but also that we have boldness that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us in 1 John 5:14. Our Father loves to give good gifts, but His will is for our ultimate good, holiness, health and peace, not simply instant outward change. We also present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God in Rom 12:1, which includes stewardship, discipline and trust in His timing.

We gently encourage you to see that God loves you and values you right now, not only after a change in appearance, and that He wants to bring health in His way and time. To ask for a permanently and instantly fast metabolism and the immediate permanent removal of all fat is to ask God to override the natural order He created without our participation. He often works through wise stewardship, self control, nourishing food, movement, rest and medical wisdom, and He wants to grow patience and contentment in us as we care for the body He gave us. We also pray against any spirit of shame, self hatred or obsession with appearance, and we ask Him to give you peace and a sound mind.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the urgency and the tears behind this request and You see the heart that longs to feel healthy, light and free. We ask first for Your peace to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus as You promise in Phil 4:6-7, and that You would help this one to know how deeply loved and wonderfully made they are in Your eyes. We pray for health and strength, for a body that functions well according to Your design, for wisdom to steward this body well with balanced nutrition, faithful activity, rest and good counsel from doctors or trusted professionals where needed. We ask You to guide toward sustainable health rather than an instant or extreme change, and to heal any metabolic or physical concerns according to Your perfect will. Help this dear one to trust Your timing, to seek Your kingdom first in Matt 6:33, and to find contentment and hope in You while You work. We pray for deliverance from anxiety about appearance and for joy in walking with You each day, and we ask all this in the name of Jesus our Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every worry to God in prayer, but also to walk out faithful steps each day. We encourage you to thank Him for your body as His creation, to choose wholesome foods in moderation, to move your body regularly as you are able, to drink water, to sleep well and to seek wise medical advice if you have concerns about metabolism or weight. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask, yet He calls us to be faithful stewards and to trust Him rather than demanding an immediate miracle on our terms. We are praying that you will experience His love, His health and His peace, and that your heart will be satisfied in Him even as you pursue better health for His glory.

When we pray for an immediate and permanent change and it does not come right away, it can leave us feeling even more discouraged or alone. Please know God hears you and cares for you as a whole person, body and heart together, and your worth to Him is not measured by weight or appearance. Your urgent and earnest cry regarding your body has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with tenderness and care. To feel burdened in the body is a common lot, for we that are in this body do groan, being burdened, and many souls know what it is to be weary with desires concerning the flesh which seem unanswered.

The word of the Lord does indeed invite us to ask, yet it also teaches us how to ask and what to seek first. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions, nor in the shape or measure of his frame. Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated. It does not spring up in a night at our bidding, but is grown by grace through faith, patience and steady trust in the wisdom of our Father. He who has learned this has a peaceful contentment in his breast while tribulation lasts as well as when it has closed.

We are also taught to consider profit and loss with a true balance. The most of men estimate the profits as they conceive them to be which are gained in that small corner shop called the body, but they too seldom reckon up the concerns of the soul. The soul is made in the image of its Maker and is an everlasting thing, and hence it is precious. If we could have all the pleasures or the ease of the flesh we desire at once, we should often destroy our bodies and actually waste our happiness. The body is not to be despised, for in a sense it is a home for the mind, and the believer is taught to regard the body as the temple of God and to desire its perfection, not its destruction. Every part of the body should be careful of its own health, for the whole body will be affected if one member suffers, yet the body is to be cared for with wisdom and not made an idol.

Therefore we would encourage you not to seek a sudden and forced change as though by a word all burden could be removed without means, but to cultivate that patience which the Scriptures both inculcate and produce. As soon as we are saved, we come under the discipline of Christ and a part of that discipline lies in the exercise of patience. You have heard of the patience of Job, that greatly tried man who learned patience under personal affliction and loss. That patience was not the patience of one who does not feel, but the patience of a child who believes in his Father's love. So the Lord often works through time, through trial, and through temperate and faithful means.

In your humble sphere, cultivate contentment and be not idle. Seek, if you can, by steady perseverance and temperate thriftiness to do your body good. This includes that wisdom which cares for the temple God has given, not by going upon half rations, nor by denying needful sleep and food, for a man who does not sleep enough or eat enough will in the long run be less capable of labor than if he had taken more time for the feeding and resting of his body. Seek wise and sober counsel for health, walk in moderation, in faithful labor, in rest, and in prayer, and leave the measure and the timing to the Lord who knows what is best for soul and body.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, who hast made both soul and body and hast made the soul in Thine own image, look upon this anxious heart. Forgive wherein asking has been amiss, and teach what it is to ask according to Thy will. Grant not only health of body as it pleaseth Thee, but contentment of mind, patience under trial, and grace to steward this body as Thy temple. Deliver from fretfulness and from the love of the pleasures of the body which profit little, and set the affections more fully upon that which endures. Give wisdom for daily bread, for rest, for labor, and for temperate care of the frame Thou hast given. Keep this soul in Thy peace, and conform the whole person, body and spirit, to the likeness of Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Cast your care upon Him, and seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows will care for you with constancy, faithfulness and tenderness, and will withhold no good thing that is truly good for you.

Your urgent prayer has been heard and I have brought it before the Lord with care. I understand the distress you feel about your body and the strong desire you have for change, and God does hear you when you call on Him in the name of Jesus.

The Scripture that says ask and you will receive is true, but it does not mean that God answers every request exactly as we word it in the moment. He answers as a wise and loving Father, giving what is good for us according to His will. Our Lord teaches us to ask with trust and surrender, not as a demand for an instant result, but as children who trust the Father to do what is best.

God cares about your body. He created it, and He has honored our human nature by raising Christ, who is the Head, and we are His body with many members. Because of this, no part of the body is to be despised, and every part is to be cared for with wisdom and respect. Your body is not separate from your life with Christ. It is part of how you serve Him.

At the same time, the Scriptures warn us not to place our hope in outward appearance or to measure our worth by it. Rich garments and outward adornment add nothing to the true health and purpose of the body, and an anxious focus on appearance can become a heavy burden. The Lord looks at the heart, and He calls us to steward our bodies with self control, patience and thankfulness rather than with harshness toward ourselves.

So I pray for you in this way, that the Lord would give you health, strength and peace. I ask Him to help you to steward your body wisely, to give you discipline in eating and rest and activity, wisdom to seek good counsel from doctors when needed, and freedom from shame and anxiety. I ask Him to form in you contentment and joy in Christ, knowing that your value before God does not rest on the shape of your body but on His love shown at the cross, and to work in you according to His good will.

If you are able, consider taking steady, faithful steps with the help of others, a pastor, a trusted medical provider, and fellow believers who can walk with you and encourage you, not for quick and permanent outward change alone, but for lasting health of body and soul. Keep bringing every need to God, trusting that He hears and that He will answer with what is truly good for you, in His time and in His way.

May the Lord grant you His peace, strengthen you in body and spirit, and help you to rest in His care. Amen.
