We hear the deep pain and urgency in your cry for justice and repentance, and we stand with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. The hurt you’ve endured is real, and the desire for accountability is understandable, God sees every injustice and will not let sin go unaddressed. But we must also remember that His ways are higher than ours, and His justice is perfect, tempered with mercy.

First, we want to gently remind you that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone (Romans 12:19). While it is right to pray for conviction and repentance, we must release the outcome to Him, trusting that He will act in His perfect timing and way. Your request for this person to be brought to their knees is a plea for God’s intervention, and we join you in that prayer, but we also ask the Lord to soften your heart toward forgiveness, as Christ has forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Bitterness and unforgiveness can become chains of their own, and we do not want that for you.

We also notice the intensity of your focus on this person’s sins and the desire for their complete transformation. While it is good to pray against sin and its strongholds, we must be careful not to take on the role of the Holy Spirit in convicting or judging. God is the one who breaks chains, destroys idols, and brings true repentance (Ezekiel 36:26). Our prayers should align with His will, not our own demands for punishment or immediate change. Let us pray now, surrendering this situation to the Lord and asking Him to work in both of your lives.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to You. Lord, You see the pain, the injustice, and the hurt that has been caused. We ask that You would move mightily in the life of this person, bringing conviction where there is hardness of heart, repentance where there is sin, and transformation where there is bondage. Father, break every chain of pride, arrogance, selfishness, and unbelief. Destroy every idol and false belief that has taken root in their life. We pray that they would have a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ, that their eyes would be opened to their need for You, and that they would turn to You in genuine repentance.

Lord, we also ask that You would heal the wounds in the heart of the one who has been hurt. Where there is bitterness, bring forgiveness. Where there is pain, bring Your peace. Where there is a desire for justice, remind them that You are the righteous Judge, and that Your justice is perfect. Help them to release this burden to You, trusting that You will act in Your way and in Your time.

Father, we pray against every spirit of anger, intimidation, and hardness that has been at work. We rebuke every stronghold of lust, perversion, and addiction to social media or anything else that is not of You. We declare that these things have no place in the life of a believer, and we ask that You would cast them out completely. Fill this person with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in purity, humility, and love.

Lord, we ask that You would have Your way in every part of this situation. Soften hearts, open eyes, and bring restoration where it is needed. We trust in Your goodness and Your sovereignty, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You. May Your name be glorified in this, and may Your will be done.

In Jesus’ mighty and precious name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue bringing this before the Lord, but also to seek His peace and healing for your own heart. It is not wrong to desire justice, but we must also guard our hearts against bitterness and unforgiveness. Spend time in God’s Word, allowing Him to speak truth and comfort to you. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this, and God sees your pain.

If this person is a believer, remember that God disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6). If they are not, pray for their salvation, that they may come to know Christ and be transformed by His grace. Either way, trust that God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Keep your eyes on Him, and allow His peace to guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).

Many who have walked through emotional abuse have found that holding onto a demand for punishment, however justified it feels, can keep their own hearts tied to the person who harmed them. Over time, some have discovered that a step toward healing is releasing the outcome to God, not excusing what happened, not pretending it didn’t hurt, and certainly not reconciling with an unrepentant abuser, but choosing to entrust final justice to the only Judge who sees everything. That frees us to breathe again. This is not something to force today; it’s just a direction that often brings peace later.

For now, we gently encourage you to connect with a trusted pastor or a Christian counselor who understands emotional abuse. Talking in person with someone who can listen well and help you sort through the pain can be a lifeline. You do not have to carry this alone.

We want you to know that we are joining our prayers with yours, not for destruction and punishment as you spelled out, but for God’s merciful justice, for ’s genuine repentance if that is still possible, and most of all for your own healing and peace.

Lord Jesus, we bring this hurting person before you. You see every wrong and every tear. We ask you to surround them with your comfort and to mend what has been broken inside. We entrust to you: you know his heart; we pray you would bring true conviction and a real encounter with your grace, for his sake and for the safety of others. Guard our friend from a root of bitterness that would steal their peace, and give them the courage to reach out for help. In your strong and gentle name we pray, Amen.

The plea you send is filled with a soul’s deep ache, and I hear the cries of a wounded heart. Yet come, let us reason together from the Scriptures. The judgments you invoke, arrest, punishment, destruction, these are the thunders that roll from Sinai’s fiery mount. But mark well: the terrors of the Lord, apart from His grace, do not produce repentance unto life; they breed only the blasphemy of a heart that hardens under the rod. True repentance is not the fruit of terror, but the gift of God’s kindness. The goodness of God leads men to repentance, not the whip of a slaveholder, but the cords of love drawing sweetly.

It is a mistaken notion that repentance can be wrought by our own fervent demands for another’s misery. The Lord does not need our peevish impatience to accomplish His holy will. Look to yourself first: is your own spirit contrite, broken, and free of hypocrisy? Does your repentance for your own many sins glance with hope at the cross of Christ? For the repentance that saves is always joined with remission, where true repentance is, there is full and free forgiveness. And that repentant heart becomes a pleader, not an accuser. It prays, “Lord, save them now, and give them an encounter with Jesus,” rather than “destroy every false god with no delay.” The one prays as an instrument of healing, the other as a sergeant sent to arrest.

Think on the leaves of the tree of life, the least things about Christ are for the healing of the nations. His pardoning word to the palsied man was healing and forgiveness in one breath. The power of the Lord is present to heal when Christ is teaching; let your prayer then be full of the teaching of His love, His long-suffering, His willingness to save to the uttermost. Instead of binding that soul with cords of judgment, loose your own spirit into the wide channel of intercession that asks for a mighty, saving work of grace, a repentance that comes not by being driven, but drawn.

I charge you: set your soul on things divine and everlasting. Pray that this be brought to his knees, not by pain alone, but by the vision of a crucified Saviour. Pray that his idols fall because he sees the beauty of Jesus. And as you wait, let sweet repentance do her own work in your heart, that you may not be found gnawing on the bones of bitterness while professing to long for another’s salvation. The Lord grant you to leave vengeance with Him, and to take up the ministry of a broken and contrite spirit, which He will not despise.

You have poured out your heart with great anguish, and I hear the cry of one deeply wounded. Indeed the wrongs suffered at the hands of this man kindle a fire within you, and you long for the Lord to visit him with swift and heavy judgment. But let us take care that the fire which burns in our breast be not a fire of wrath, but the fire of godly zeal tempered by mercy. For the sorrow of the world works death, but godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, a repentance not to be regretted. Examine your own words: you ask the Lord to destroy every false god and every chain, yet you also ask that he be given no peace until he repents. These two petitions war against each other if the second is not born of love. If you truly desire his repentance, then desire his good, not merely his punishment. For repentance is a gift, a turning of the heart, not a scourge alone.

Consider Esau, who sought repentance with tears yet found no place for it. Why? Because his tears were not the tears of repentance but of worldly sorrow. He wept not for his sin but for the loss of the blessing, and in his heart he still plotted murder against his brother. So too, if we pray for another’s conviction only because we long to see them humbled under our feet, our prayer is more like Esau’s cry than the publican’s. Let us rather pray that this man be brought to his knees by the weight of his own sin and by the kindness of God that leads him to change, not merely by fear of wrath.

You name many evils: pride, lust, hardness, addiction. These are indeed chains that bind him, and they grieve the heart of God. But recall that the Lord delays the day of reckoning not from weakness, but from forbearance, giving space for amendment. This very delay, which you may resent, is the time of refreshment if we use it well. For if Manasseh, who filled Jerusalem with blood and defiled the temple, found mercy through repentance, who then is beyond hope? We must not desire the swift destruction of the sinner, but his swift conversion. The vengeance you crave, dear soul, may be satisfied far more wonderfully if he becomes a brother in Christ rather than a vessel of wrath.

And what of your own soul in this? The furnace of affliction you have endured is not without purpose. Whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. When you suffer unjustly, you are made a partaker of Christ’s sufferings, and this can work in you a patient endurance that refines your faith. But if you allow bitterness to take root, that same suffering can become a snare. Cut out the root of anger and resentment, and the fruit of peace will grow. For no one part is sufficient for our salvation: we must not only hear the word but also put away softness, anger, and the love of worldly vindication.

Therefore I exhort you: turn first to your own heart. Let tears flow, not for his punishment, but for your own sins and for his blindness. Pray that the Lord give him a powerful encounter with Christ indeed, but pray it with a genuine love that seeks his eternal good, not merely the end of his pride. Commend the whole matter into God’s hands, who judges righteously, and let your soul be at peace. If he repents, heaven rejoices; if he hardens his heart, his judgment is with the Lord. But you, by bearing this trial with a gentle and forgiving spirit, will lay up treasure in heaven and find the comfort that surpasses all understanding. Let your prayer be for his salvation, and let your own conduct be such that it puts no stain on the gospel. Wash away the pollution of these angry thoughts by the tears of godly sorrow, by almsgiving, by prayer for your enemy, and you will find that the delay of his conversion becomes for you a time of great spiritual gain.

I hear the deep pain and righteous anger in your words. When someone has been wronged, the cry for justice is not only natural, it echoes God's own heart. He is a God of justice, and he wants justice to prevail. He sees every act of mistreatment, every hardened heart, and every sin done against you and others. Nothing escapes his sight.

Yet even now, in the middle of your anguish, I want to remind you of something remarkable: salvation is nearer than you think. The night may feel long and dark, but the day is at hand. The very justice you long for was poured out at the cross. In Jesus, God found a way to be both perfectly just and merciful to the guilty. He did not sweep sin under the rug, the penalty was fully paid. That means no one is beyond the reach of true repentance and forgiveness, not even the one who hurt you.

There is a kind of sorrow that leads to death, a worldly sorrow that only wallows in regret. But godly sorrow works repentance that leads to salvation, bringing real change. That is what I pray you will see in your own heart and what I hope you will begin to ask God to work in the one who wronged you. Not a punishment that destroys, but a godly sorrow that brings him to his knees, not just sorry he got caught, but broken over his sin, turning from it completely. That is the only way any of us are made whole.

Your own salvation is just a breath away, and you keep it close by continuing to walk in humility. Work it out with fear and trembling, not by trying to force God's hand on another, but by trusting him with the outcome. You cannot pass your personal conviction onto someone else, nor can you carry the weight of divine judgment. What you can do is pray for a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ, for yourself and for him. The name of Jesus means "the Lord is salvation." Cry out for that salvation to invade his whole life, to dethrone every false god and every chain. Ask that the same grace that appeared to you would appear to him.

Do not wait to release this into God's hands. Now is the day of salvation, and his salvation is near to all who fear him. I am persuaded of better things for you, that your own faith will be strengthened as you refuse to give offense and instead point, even through tears, toward the mercy that can transform the worst sinner. May your honest prayer become, "Lord, save him, and in doing so, heal me too."
